Abstract

Batik is a combination of art and technology. Batik has various types and motifs that vary depending on the region. In Indramayu itself there are several types of batik, one of which is batik with the Sidomukti motif. Ethnomathematics is a science that studies the relationship between mathematics and culture. Through this knowledge, various mathematical aspects can be studied that can be found in Sidomukti batik motifs. The aim of this research is to find out the Sidomukti batik motif pattern when linked to the Pythagorean theorem and can be used as an example to convey material proving the Pythagorean Theorem in schools. The research used is qualitative descriptive research with the research object being batik cloth with sidomukti motifs. Mathematically, the sidomukti motif can be approximated by flat rectangular and triangular shapes. From the research, the results showed that there is a mathematical aspect, namely the proof of the Pythagorean Theorem in the Indramayu cultural element, namely the sidomukti batik motif.

Abstract

Critical thinking is very important in education, especially in learning mathematics, because it is expected that students can not only solve problems, but also be able to understand and explain the thought processes underlying their solutions. One of the factors that can affect students' critical thinking ability is self-efficacy, which is a person's belief in their own ability to achieve goals. The purpose of this study is to describe students' mathematical critical thinking ability in terms of self-efficacy. This research used descriptive qualitative method. Based on the results of the self-efficacy questionnaire, researchers divided the subjects into low, medium, and high categories. Furthermore, researchers used interviews and critical thinking ability tests to collect information. To analyze the data, the researcher reduced, presented, and drew conclusions. In this study, the critical thinking process includes identifying problems/information, developing solution strategies, evaluating processes and results, and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that students with high self-efficacy show better critical thinking skills compared to students with moderate and low self-efficacy. Students with high self-efficacy are not only able to identify problems well, but also develop appropriate solution strategies and evaluate results logically. Students with moderate self-efficacy have limited abilities and tend to lack confidence, although they can identify important information.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the learning outcomes of tenth-grade students in mathematics subjects under the Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar by reviewing student learning activities on exponential material at SMA Negeri 2 Gorontalo. The method used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with the research sample being class X-11, where class distribution at SMA Negeri 2 Gorontalo is done evenly without regard to students' academic abilities. In this study, the instruments used for data collection include a questionnaire on student learning activities and tests on student learning outcomes in exponential material. The learning activities measured include visual activities, oral activities, writing activities, mental activities, and emotional activities, which are then identified into three categories of learning activity: high, medium, and low. For the learning outcome tests, four criteria are identified: emerging, adequate, proficient, and skilled, which are the completion criteria for learning objectives used in the independent learning curriculum. The results show that students with high learning activity consist of 5 students or 21%, with an average learning outcome of 49.5% classified as adequate; students with medium learning activity consist of 14 or 58%, with an average learning outcome of 42.58% also classified as adequate; and students with low learning activity consist of 5 students or 21%, with an average learning outcome of 45.42% classified as adequate. Based on the average positive responses regarding the learning activities of class X-11 students, four out of five indicators show low learning activity levels. This reflects that the average mathematics learning outcomes under the independent curriculum for exponential material are only at the adequate level, specifically at 44.6042%, indicating a need for improvement in several areas of exponential material. Thus, it is concluded that student learning activity plays a crucial role in mathematics learning outcomes under the independent curriculum, which is designed to create active student learning experiences.

Abstract

This study compares the performance of Random Forest and XGBoost algorithms in classifying recipients of Non-Cash Food Assistance (BPNT) in West Java Province. The data used is from the 2023 National Socio-Economic Survey (SUSENAS) comprising 25,890 households, with 23.6% BPNT recipients and 76.4% non-recipients. The study includes data exploration, preprocessing, handling class imbalance, baseline modeling, and hyperparameter tuning using Grid Search. The results indicate that undersampling effectively increases the recall of Random Forest to 80.01% and XGBoost to 74.04%, albeit at the expense of accuracy. The most influential variables in classification include the head of household's employment status, flooring material of the house, and type of land/building ownership proof. These findings support the utilization of data-driven algorithms to enhance the accuracy and fairness of BPNT distribution.

Abstract

The tourism sector plays an important role in increasing employment absorption, promoting equitable business opportunities, and contributing to foreign exchange earings. In 2023, optimism in Indonesia's tourism sector grew, with the number of domestic tourist trips reaching 825.80 million, an increase of 12.37 percent compared to 2022. The Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Indonesia, known for its cultural, historical, and natural richness. The growth of tourist visits in DIY not only increases direct income from tourism activities but also positively impacts other economic sectors such as culinary, handicrafts, transportation, and services. This study aims to analyze the role of the tourism sector in DIY in driving and contributing to the regional economy using the Input-Output table. Backward and forward linkage analysis is used to identify key sectors in the economy. The results show that the air transportation sector has the highest spread value among other tourism sectors, while the food and beverage provision sub-sector contributes the most to the total Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at Current Market Prices in DIY. Simulations of a 1000 billion rupiah investment in each tourism sub-sector show that the air transportation sub-sector provides the largest total impact, while the food and beverage provision sub-sector makes a significant contribution to economic output. Employment projections indicate that the transportation and warehousing sector can create approximately 37,183 new jobs, while the accommodation and food and beverage sector can generate around 3,523 new jobs. Equal investment in each sub-sector is estimated to increase economic growth by 4.25% and reduce the number of unemployment people by 1.832%.

Abstract

This study clusters Indonesian provinces based on the indicators of adequate housing using the K-Means method. The four key indicators analyzed are access to clean water (X1), sanitation (X2), floor area per capita (X3), and building resilience (X4). The K-Means algorithm is applied to group the provinces based on their proximity to centroids calculated from each province's data. The clustering results in four groups with distinct characteristics, each requiring data-driven interventions to improve housing quality. Additionally, feature importance techniques are used to identify the factors most influential in the clustering process. The analysis reveals that building resilience (X4) and floor area per capita (X3) are the most important indicators in the clustering, while access to clean water (X1) is more homogeneous across provinces. Based on these findings, policy recommendations focus on improving building resilience in provinces with lower X4 scores, as well as enhancing access to clean water and sanitation in areas with challenges in X1 and X2. This K-Means and feature importance-based approach can be used to formulate more effective and sustainable policies to achieve the SDGs in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study analyzes the role of digital learning media in enhancing the effectiveness of mathematics learning using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method on 17 articles that meet the inclusion criteria: (1) published between 2018 and 2024, (2) containing empirical data on mathematics learning, and (3) discussing the use of digital media. Based on the selected and reviewed analysis, four types of digital learning media were identified: web-based media, applications and software, augmented reality (AR), and artificial intelligence (AI). Each type of media has its own characteristics and advantages that support the understanding of mathematical concepts in a more interactive and engaging way. The characteristics of effective learning media include interactivity, ease of access, visual appeal, and the ability to enhance students' interest and understanding. However, challenges such as infrastructure limitations, lack of teacher skills, and dependence on stable internet access hinder optimal implementation. Data analysis was conducted qualitatively and descriptively to identify factors that support and hinder the use of these media in mathematics education. In conclusion, digital learning media hold great potential to improve the quality of learning, provided they are supported by teacher training and adequate infrastructure development.
