Abstract

Skin disorders have been identified as significant health problems in the marine environment. Occupational skin diseases that usually arise are dermatitis problems that cause contact irritants or allergies. Fishermen are people capturing fish in the sea, and they are at risk of getting skin diseases, namely dermatitis, which is an environmentally-based skin disease. The study purpose is to determine and analyse factors associated with irritant contact dermatitis among fishermen at Oeba Fish Market, Kupang City. This research used analytical methods with a cross-sectional design. The population was 120 fishermen working at Oeba Fish Market. A total of 92 fishermen was selected as sample using simple random sampling. Data were analysed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi−Square test. The results showed that personal hygiene, personal protective equipment usage and period of work with irritant contact dermatitis where the p-value<α (0.05). There was no relationship found between duration of contact and irritant contact dermatitis where the p-value>α (0.05). Fishermen should use complete personal protective equipment during the work process, especially gloves, work clothes and work shoes to prevent direct contact and also pay attention to personal hygiene while working.

Abstract

Satisfaction is a form of one's feelings after experiencing service quality that has met expectations. Health services, especially family planning, is expected to meet the needs of acceptors. However, there are complaints from acceptors related to the service of injectable contraceptive received. These complaints are related to the comfortability of the waiting room, the condition of the family planning room that is still not neatly arranged, and the lack of family planning equipment. The measurement of acceptor satisfaction needs to be carried out regularly, accurately and continuously through a satisfaction survey. This study aims to determine the level of acceptor satisfaction with Depo-Medroxyprogesterone Acetate (DMPA) injection family planning at Baumata Health Center, Kupang Regency. The study was a survey with a quantitative approach. This study had a population of 74 people. A sample of 43 people were selected using proportional random sampling technique. The data were analyzed using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) method. The results showed that acceptors were satisfied for the tangible dimension (88.4%), and very satisfied for the dimension of reliability (95.5%), responsiveness (95.3%), assurance (94.5%) and empathy (96.5%). The health center needs to improve the service quality of injectable contraceptives by ensuring the availability of related devices, timeliness in the service provision, and complete preparation of the injectable birth control equipment.

Abstract

Work stress is a stressful feeling or a sense of pressure experienced by employees related to their work. Naibonat Regional General Hospital is a referral health service center in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province. Nurses at the Hospital work for 12 hours/day or 72 hours/week which put them at risk of work-related stress. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age, gender, workload, and years of service with the work stress of nurses. This study was an analytic study with a cross-sectional design. The research was conducted at the Emergency Unit of Naibonat Hospital. Data were collected from September-October 2020. The study population was all nurses, 24 people, working at the Department. All populations are sampled. Hypothesis testing used chi-square with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed that workload (p = 0.000) and work period were associated with stress. Age (p=0.069) and gender (p=1,000) were unassociated with the stress. The Emergency Department of the Hospital needs to pay more attention to the workload of nurses. The workload should be adjusted to the ability and work duties of nurses to avoid failure or mistakes in treating patients and to prevent nurses from having excessive workloads.

Abstract

HIV-AIDS is a dangerous disease in society. In Indonesia, people living with HIV-AIDS are still considered a disgrace, so that stigma appears in society which makes people living with HIV feel pessimistic in living their lives, mentally and psychologically being depressed by the stigma. The purpose of this study was to determine the knowledge, attitudes, and actions of PLWHA on the stigma of HIV-AIDS in Kupang City in 2019. The research design used in this study was descriptive qualitative. The research was conducted by in-depth interviews with 6 informants using interview guidelines. The results showed that the informants had good knowledge about stigma because the informants had understood correctly that the bad treatment from family, neighbors, and health workers that the informants had received in their daily life was a stigma. Informants try to accept the stigma from neighbors and health workers positively because they are supported by the closest people and choose to continue taking treatment at health facilities for the survival of PLWHA. People living with HIV-AIDS continue to take ARVs and carry out activities like society in general. The hope of PLWHA related to stigma in this study is to reduce stigma and increase knowledge about HIV/AIDS and increase awareness of the health team and the community about the importance of caring for people with HIV-AIDS.

The study population was divided into two groups, the case population was mothers with cases of perinatal death totaling 38 people and the control population was mothers who had live births totaling 1,118 people. The sample consisted of 114 people grouped with 1:2 ratio of 38 cases and 76 controls. The sample was selected using simple random sampling. The results showed that there was an effect of hemoglobin level (p-value=0.000) and upper arm circumference (p-value=0.000) with perinatal mortality. Pregnant women need to increase their knowledge about balanced nutrition by accessing information from health media and consulting health workers at the nearest health facility.
