Abstract

Indonesia has a fairly severe nutritional problem, which is marked by the many cases of stunting in children under five. This study aims to analyze social relations. Demographics and behavior of nutrition-aware families and the incidence of stunting in the working area of the Menawi Nursing Health Center, Yapen Islands District This is an observational study with a cross-sectional approach.The population is all families with 242 toddlers and a sample of 149 toddlers in the Menawi Nursing Health Center, Yapen Islands Regency, using purposive sampling and statistical tests using chi-square and logistic regression. The research results showed that occupation (p = 0.018), contact with other cultures (p = 0.001), exclusive breastfeeding (p = 0.001), consumption of diverse foods (p = 0.001), and family behavior aware of nutrition (p = 0.001) were variables related to stunting, while education (p = 0.394) and income (p = 0.646) were not related to stunting. In addition, the behavior of the family that is aware of nutrition has the most influence on the incidence of stunting, with a value of Exp (B) = 3.884. The conclusion obtained is that work, contact with other cultures, exclusive breastfeeding, consumption of a variety of foods, and family behavior that is aware of nutrition are factors that cause stunting. So that sustainable health interventions are needed in the form of family nutrition education.

Abstract

The mangrove plant (Hibiscus tiliaceus L.) is widely cultivated in tropical regions such as Indonesia because almost all parts of plant are believed to provide many benefits. Som of the benefits of the mangrove plant include laxative, treating earache, antibacterial, and antioxidant. The aim of the research is to analyze the content of phytochemical compounds contained in the mangrove plant and its antioxidant activity. This research uses a journal review method based on data collection carried out by inclusion and exclusion obtained from the google scholar, science direct, taylor and francis, garuda, and sage publication data search engine, including textbooks and scientific articles published above year of 2013. The result of the research is the phytochemical compounds found in mangrove plant are anthocyanin compounds, amides, coumarins, phenols, organic acids and flavonoid compounds that identified in the leaves, stems, and bark in mangrove plants uses several of solvents, there are methanol water, chloroform, and ethanol. The part of the plant that has antioxidant activity is the leaves which has strong antioxidant activity (IC50 = 86,5 µg/mL).

Abstract

Coronary heart disease is a cardiovascular disease caused by atherosclerosis. Hyperlipidemia is known as a risk factor for atherosclerosis. The Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni plant is a plant that is efficacious as a hypolipidemic. This study aims to determine the effect of microencapsulated preparations of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni leaf extract on triglyceride levels in male Wistar rats. One way to improve the formulation is by using the encapsulation process. The encapsulants used are inulin and chitosan. This research was conducted with the aim of making hyperlipidemic rats induced by alloxan at a dose of 150 mg/KgBW rats intraperitoneally. Hyperlipidemic rats were given microencapsulated Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni leaf extract at different dose levels (100, 300, 700, and 1000 mg/kg BW) for 8 weeks; control mice were fed a basal diet during this period. The results of the study concluded that microencapsulation of Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni leaf extract had the potential to reduce triglyceride levels in hyperlipidemic male Wistar rats.

Abstract

The Annual Parasite Index (API) of the Genyem Health Center in 2021 is 117 per 1,000 population. This figure is very high when you look at the government's malaria control target towards malaria elimination in 2030. Papua is free of malaria (API=1/1,000). This survey study was conducted to observe the level of damage to the long lasting insecticide net (LLIN) used by 162 malaria sufferers to prevent the incidence of malaria. Each respondent has been given a mosquito net in 2021 and then each one LLIN mosquito net. The results of the evaluation of the condition of the level of damage to the stage I LLIN mosquito nets showed that the mosquito nets used by malaria patients were mostly damaged at the level of damage to size 1 (r=<1 cm) as many as 18 mosquito nets (11.1%). The other levels of damage were each size 2 (r=1-3 cm) with 8 mosquito nets (4.9%), the size of the damage size 3 (r=4-5 cm) with 5 mosquito nets (3.1%), the size of the damage size 4 (r=>5 cm) 3 mosquito nets (1.9%), 8 mosquito nets that were not found or missing (4.9%). The results of in-depth interviews found that the damaged LLIN mosquito nets were caused by rat bites, attracted by nails, damaged during washing, burned by respondents due to itching (skin sensitivity effect), and were converted to kill fruit ants on rambutan trees, used to catch fish. Several LLIN mosquito nets were not found or were lost because the respondent gave LLIN mosquito nets to other family members who live elsewhere.The distribution of LLIN mosquito nets that are distributed to the community to prevent the bite of the Anopheles malaria mosquito needs to be done by providing counseling on how to use and care for LLIN mosquito nets.

Abstract

Experimental research in the field of hepatology on the development of traditional medicine into a potential pharmacological solution to protect the liver from cirrhosis. Accordingly, this study investigated the effect of ethanol extract of temu kunci rhizome on liver cirrhosis. The rats were divided into six groups, the normal control group was given nothing but pellets and sufficient water, the negative control group was given orally CMC-Na 0.5%, 200 mg acetylcysteine (dose converted to rat) was given to the positive control group, and the treatment group was given ethanol extract of temu kunci rhizome doses of 250, 500, 750 mg/kg BW, given daily for 10 days. Then on the 10th day after 1 hour of extract administration, induction was carried out with paracetamol 800 mg/kg BW orally; 16 hours after induction, rats were sacrificed, blood was taken for ALT and AST enzyme examination, then liver organs were taken for histopathological examination. The administration of ethanol extract of temu kunci rhizome can prevent liver damage by reducing ALT and AST enzyme levels in rat blood serum. The best dose in reducing ALT and AST enzymes was produced by giving 500 mg/kg BW of temu kunci rhizome ethanol extract every day for 10 days. At a dose of 500 mg/kg BW ethanol extract of temu kunci rhizome morphologically (evaluation with H&E staining) can also repair liver tissue damaged by paracetamol induction. The development of liver damage can be interpended by using ethanol extract of temu kunci rhizome, so that the status of liver morphology, structure and function of the liver can be maintained.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic diseases characterized by hyperglycemia. Plants that can reduce blood sugar levels in alloxan-induced mice are Rambai peel (Baccaurea motleyana). The safety of the use of plants as herbal medicine must be known so as not to cause unwanted harmful effects. In this study, the relative weight of organs and changes in organ appearance were observed macroscopically. The design in this study was a completely randomized design with 24 male mice divided into 6 treatments and 4 replications. The treatment consisted of a negative control (Aquadest), a positive control (glibenclamide), peel Rambai ethanol extract with graded doses of 200 mg/kg, 400 mg/kg, 800 mg/kg and 1600 mg/kg. , given orally. The results showed that the ethanol extract of Rambai peel had no significant effect on the relative weight of the heart, kidneys and spleen, but had a significant effect on the relative weight of the liver. The results of this study also showed that no color changes were seen in any of the mice organs. So, this study showed no visible macroscopic changes in the organs, so that administration of Rammbai ethanol extract gradually causes fewer toxic effects and is still considered safe in experimental animals.

Abstract

Avian influenza is a zoonotic disease transmitted from poultry to humans. The prevalence of AI disease in Indonesia is likely to be a global health threat because of the ease of mutation in each generation, which makes pathogenicity higher. However, detection efforts still use conventional methods, so a more sophisticated detection search is needed. This research aims to identify the DNA amplification process and the results of detecting avian influenza virus using real-time PCR. Qualitative research using samples from BBVet Denpasar in May 2022. The samples were analyzed using the real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT‒PCR) method, and the results obtained were analyzed descriptively. The results show that the RT‒PCR method is very effective for detecting the presence of AI quantitatively and molecularly. A graph that crosses the threshold on cycles lower than 40 indicates that a positive sample will show nominal Ct. No nominal Ct was detected in this study, and the graph did not cross the threshold, so the model tested negative for the AI virus. The DNA amplification process of the avian influenza virus begins with an amplification process of 40 cycles, with each cycle stage in the form of denaturation at 94 °C for 30 seconds, annealing at 64 °C for 60 seconds, and DNA synthesis at 76 °C for 30 seconds. One cycle is declared if the amplification process has passed these three stages.

Abstract

Porang leaves (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) have strong antioxidant activity with an IC50 97.054 µg/mL which often used in the development of cosmetics. Purpose of the research was to obtain a pharmaceutically stable formulation of porang leaf extract gel peel-off mask (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume). The research was laboratory experimental. Porang leaf extract peel-off masks were made in 4 formulas with variations in PVA concentrations of 7.5%, 10%, 12.5% and 15%. The peel-off masks obtained were tested for stability including organoleptic testing, homogeneity, syneresis test, adhesion test, spreadability test, dry time test, viscosity and flow properties. The conclusion from the results obtained that porang leaf extract can be formulated in a gel peel-off mask formula. The gel peel-off mask formula of porang leaf extract (Amorphophallus muelleri Blume) with pharmaceutical stability test is formula 3 with a concentration of 12.5% polyvinyl alcohol and formula 4 with a concentration of 15% polyvinyl alcohol. The gel peel-off mask formula is porang leaf extract that qualifies the pharmaceutical stability test.

Abstract

Hair loss occurs in many people, so it can reduce the cosmetic function and protect the body and head from the environment. Hair loss is a disorder in which the number of hairs is less or more than normal. Hair tonic includes cosmetic preparations that have a liquid form with the function of maintaining hair health, stimulating hair growth, and strengthening hair. Caffeine is a substance that can stimulate hair growth. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of a hair tonic preparation containing caffeine that can stimulate hair growth in guinea pigs. The results showed that hair tonic caffeine Formula 1 with a concentration of 0.001% with an average hair length of 18.294 mm had high effectiveness in stimulating hair growth compared to Formula 2 with a concentration of 0.005% with an average hair length of 16.610 mm.

Abstract

ASI (Air Susu Ibu) merupakan satu-satunya makanan yang terbaik untuk bayi yang bersifat alamiah. ASI mengandung berbagai zat gizi yang dibutuhkan dalam proses pertumbuhan dan perkembangan. Dalam 100 gram kacang hijau mengandung 124 mg kalsium dan 326 mg fosfor, bermanfaat untuk memperkuat kerangka tulang. Serta 19,7-24,2 % protein dan 5,9-7,8 % besi dapat menghasilkan ASI dalam jumlah yang maksimal. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimental, disebut juga dengan eksperimen semu. Quasi Eksperimental adalah jenis penilitian eksperimen yang memiliki perlakuan dampak, unit eksperimen, namun tidak menggunakan penugasan acak untuk menciptakan perbandingan dalam rangka menyimpulkan perubahan yang disebabkan oleh perlakuan. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh ibu nifas di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Keang Maros bulan 10 April s/d 06 Mei 2018. Kemudian sampel sebanyak 30 responden yang di ambil menggunakan tekhnik purposive sampling. Uji yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah uji Chi-Square dengan menggunakan nilai α = 0,05. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian pengaruh konsumsi sari kacang hijau terhadap kelancaran ASI pada ibu nifas maka didapatkan nilai ρ = 0,00 < α = 0,05 maka Ho ditolak sehingga terdapat pengaruh konsumsi sari kacang hijau terhadap kelancarann ASI pada ibu nifas di Wilayah Kerja Puskesmas Keang Maros tahun 2018. Saran kepada ibu nifas agar dapat mengkonsumsi makanan yang bergizi selama menyusui, karena dapat berpengaruh pada perkembangan anak. Kemudian kepada petugas, dengan adanya hasil penelitian tersebut, diharapkan bidan memberikan penyuluhan pada ibu post partum tentang manfaat mengkonsumsi sari kacang hijau yang dapat melancarkan ASI.
