Abstract

Car Free Day (CFD) events offer a practical venue for health promotion and early detection of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs). This community service program aimed to conduct blood pressure and random blood glucose screening while delivering brief NCD prevention education to the public at CFD Taman Rinjani, Selong. The activity was implemented on 30 November 2025 and involved 80 participants. The program included on-site measurements of blood pressure and random blood glucose, descriptive grouping of results by age and sex, and short counseling on NCD prevention and recommended follow-up. The findings indicated an age-related increase in mean systolic blood pressure, with the highest proportion of hypertension observed among older adults. Across younger and mid-adult groups, hypertension tended to be more frequent in men than in women. Elevated random blood glucose was uncommon overall but appeared mainly among women and was more noticeable in the older-age group. In summary, integrating screening and education in a public setting can help identify at-risk groups and encourage regular check-ups. Regularly scheduled CFD-based programs supported by selective referral pathways and strengthened lifestyle education may contribute to NCD risk reduction.

Abstract

Post-harvest corn residues in rural areas are often underutilized, creating environmental burdens while leaving economic potential untapped. This community service program aimed to strengthen the technical, managerial, and marketing capacities of the Pationgi Village community through a desapreneur model based on corn-waste valorization under the zero-waste principle. Key problems faced by partners included low utilization of corn residues, limited access to appropriate technology, and weak skills in processing and marketing value-added products. The program was implemented from September to November 2025 through socialization, intensive training, tool demonstrations, and structured mentoring for two partner groups: the Madeceng Farmers Group and the Makkiade Youth Organization. Three appropriate technologies were introduced and applied, namely PIPILLER, EXTRAFEED, and PIROLIN. The results showed that shelling capacity increased from 80–120 kg/day to 350–480 kg/day, while kernel damage decreased from 15–20% to <5%, accompanied by a reported 12–15% increase in selling value. Partners were also able to produce 150 kg of fermented feed per production session (monthly output ≥150 kg) and generate 10–15 kg of biochar and 3–5 liters of liquid smoke per ±3-hour pyrolysis cycle. Product diversification by the youth group resulted in 10 boxes of corn-silk tea, 20 corn-husk flower crafts, and 5 village-based handicrafts. Evaluation indicated highly positive responses, with all indicators falling within the “agree–strongly agree” categories, although improvement is still needed in tool-component literacy and product packaging. Overall, the program demonstrates that integrating appropriate technology with participatory mentoring can transform corn waste into value-added products and support sustainable rural economic opportunities

Abstract

Bullying remains a serious issue in elementary school environments as it negatively affects students’ social and emotional development. This community service program aimed to enhance students’ understanding and attitudes toward anti-bullying through interactive educational activities. The program was conducted at SDN 1 Kota Ternate on July 21, 2025, involving 35 fifth-grade students. The implementation stages included a pre-test, material delivery, interactive discussions, value reinforcement activities, and a post-test evaluation. The evaluation results indicated improvements across all assessed indicators. In recognizing forms of bullying, students in the high understanding category increased from 5 in the pre-test to 23 in the post-test, while the low category decreased from 20 to 4 students. Understanding of bullying impacts also improved, with the high category rising from 5 to 19 students. In terms of response and prevention skills, the high category increased from 4 to 19 students, accompanied by a reduction in the low category from 22 to 6 students. Similar progress was observed in empathy and social awareness, where the high category rose from 6 to 19 students. These findings indicate that participatory anti-bullying education effectively enhances students’ cognitive understanding and fosters positive social attitudes. The program demonstrates strong potential as a sustainable preventive strategy for creating a safe and child-friendly school environment.

Abstract

Cancer education is an essential effort to improve public awareness and understanding, particularly among women, regarding the early detection of breast and cervical cancer. This community service activity aimed to provide education on cancer awareness, the importance of early detection, and the adoption of healthy lifestyles among Muslimat NWDI in East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara. The activity was conducted through health education sessions combined with interactive discussions and an evaluation of participants’ understanding using a simple assessment instrument. The educational materials covered an introduction to breast and cervical cancer, breast self-examination (BSE), the importance of Pap smear screening, and lifestyle-related factors associated with cancer prevention. The results indicated that most participants demonstrated good to very good levels of understanding of the presented materials. Higher levels of understanding were observed among pre-elderly participants and those with a higher educational background. However, psychosocial barriers such as feelings of shame, fear, and cultural stigma related to reproductive health examinations were still identified. This socialization activity contributed positively to increasing participants’ awareness of the importance of early cancer detection. Nevertheless, continuous assistance and improved access to health services are needed to ensure the practical implementation of early detection behaviors within the community

Abstract

Digital education requires teachers to develop systematic textbooks while using technology responsibly. This paper reports a community service program on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into textbook writing for teachers at SMAN 1 Selong and MA Mu’alimat NWDI Pancor, conducted from August to September 2025. The program consisted of four stages: socialization, technical workshop, mentoring, and presentation–evaluation. Participants practiced using ChatGPT, Grammarly, Turnitin, Canva, and reference-management tools to support drafting and editing. The results show that 40 textbook drafts (at least three chapters each) were produced and can be further refined for classroom use. In addition, 70% of participants were able to independently operate at least three AI-based tools. These findings suggest that hands-on training combined with mentoring can strengthen teachers’ technical capacity and accelerate the textbook-writing process, supporting more relevant and innovative teaching materials in schools

Abstract

Inclusive education is a strategic approach to fulfilling the right to education for all children, including children with special needs (CSN), within regular school environments. This article discusses a training program designed to enhance teachers' competencies in understanding and fulfilling the role of Special Guidance Teachers (SGTs) in supporting CSN at SDN 4 Pancor and SDN 2 Labuhan Haji, East Lombok Regency. These two public elementary schools are in the early stages of implementing inclusive education. The training was conducted over seven sessions across eight months and covered materials on the concepts of inclusive education, student identification and assessment, the development of individual learning plans, and inclusive teaching strategies. The methods used included lectures, discussions, hands-on practice, and monitoring. Pretest results showed that teachers’ understanding of inclusive education averaged 54%, which increased to 91% in the posttest, indicating a significant improvement. Additionally, teachers' ability to develop simple learning plans and assessments improved from 48% to 88%. Participant satisfaction, measured through questionnaires, increased from 56% to 91%, indicating that the majority of teachers found the training highly relevant and beneficial for inclusive teaching practices. These findings demonstrate that the training program significantly improved teachers' understanding, skills, and readiness to implement inclusive education in primary schools

Abstract

Influenza is one of the acute respiratory infections that remains a public health concern due to its high transmissibility and potential to cause complications, particularly among vulnerable groups. In addition to seasonal influenza, the term “Super Flu” has become increasingly common in public discussions and social media, which may cause concern and misunderstanding regarding influenza. Meanwhile, Nipah virus infection is a zoonotic disease that can cause respiratory and neurological manifestations with a high fatality rate. This community service activity aimed to improve public knowledge of influenza, the term “Super Flu,” and Nipah virus infection, as well as their prevention. The activity was conducted in February 2026 at the Birrul Walidain NWDI Hall, Pancor, East Lombok Regency, involving 86 members of Muslimat NWDI, West Nusa Tenggara. Health education was delivered through lectures, interactive discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. Participants’ knowledge was assessed using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed an increase in knowledge following the activity. The proportion of participants with good knowledge increased from 21 participants (24.4%) in the pre-test to 68 participants (79.1%) in the post-test, while the proportion with poor knowledge decreased from 26 participants (30.3%) to 3 participants (3.5%). Improvements in knowledge were also observed across all age and educational groups. The activity suggests that direct and interactive health education can help participants better understand information about influenza, “Super Flu,” Nipah virus infection, and preventive measures. Similar educational activities can be conducted continuously with more structured evaluation to strengthen efforts to promote and prevent respiratory infectious diseases.

Abstract

Hypercholesterolemia is one of the risk factors for cardiovascular disease that needs to be controlled through the implementation of a healthy lifestyle and regular health screening. Limited public knowledge regarding risk factors, dietary patterns, genetic factors, and preventive measures for hypercholesterolemia highlights the need for community-based health education. This community service activity aimed to provide education on hypercholesterolemia and cardiovascular disease prevention to members of Nahdlatul Wathan Diniyah Islamiyah (NWDI) Muslimat in West Nusa Tenggara Province. The activity was conducted on February 22, 2026, at the North Lombok Regent’s Hall and involved 62 female participants aged 19–70 years. The activities employed interactive lectures, discussions, and question-and-answer sessions. Evaluation was conducted observationally by assessing participant participation, engagement in discussions, and responses to the educational materials. The results showed that participants attended the activity from beginning to end, actively asked questions and shared experiences, and provided positive responses to the materials presented. Participants’ questions mainly concerned dietary patterns, foods that should be limited or recommended, genetic factors, and the recommended frequency of cholesterol screening. Participants also considered the materials easy to understand, relevant, and useful for application in daily life. These findings indicate that community-based health education can serve as a relevant promotive approach for disseminating information on hypercholesterolemia and cardiovascular disease prevention. Further evaluation using quantitative instruments is needed to objectively measure changes in participants’ knowledge and health-related behaviors.

Abstract

Bullying in elementary schools can negatively affect students’ emotional, social, academic, and moral development and contribute to an unsafe school environment. This community service program aimed to improve students’ understanding of the forms, effects, and prevention of bullying while fostering empathy and the courage to respond to bullying incidents. The program was conducted at SD Alkhairat 02 Kota Ternate using a participatory-educational approach that combined interactive presentations, discussions, roleplay, and the creation of kindness campaign posters. The roleplay involved students taking the roles of perpetrators, victims, and bystanders to help them understand bullying situations and appropriate responses through the 3L approach (Lawan, Lari, Lapor—Resist, Leave, Report). Evaluation was conducted qualitatively through participatory observation during the activities, documentation of student posters, and observation of students’ responses and participation. The results showed that students began to distinguish between joking and bullying after participating in the roleplay activities. Students also demonstrated empathy toward victims and showed courage in helping their peers and reporting bullying incidents to teachers. They actively participated in creating and presenting kindness campaign posters. The activity concluded with a joint commitment declaration as “Pejuang Kebaikan” (Kindness Champions). These findings suggest that combining posters and roleplay can provide a relevant educational approach for introducing bullying prevention to elementary school students. Continued involvement of teachers, parents, and school policies is needed to support the consistent application of anti-bullying values.
