Abstract

In the world of work that continues to develop, generation Z (1997-2012) and millennials (1981-1996) dominate the global workforce. Understanding their preferences for reward systems is key to increasing job satisfaction, employee retention and organizational performance. An effective reward system can influence motivation and productivity, however, the needs and expectations between these two generations can differ significantly. This study aims to explore and analyze the effectiveness of various reward systems applied to generation Z and millennials. The focus is on identifying reward preferences, measuring the impact of innovative versus traditional reward systems, and evaluating how personalizing rewards can increase motivation and performance. Using the PICOS (Population, Intervention, Comparison, Outcomes, Study design) framework, we conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) on research published in highly reputable journals. Data is collected from a variety of academic sources spanning both quantitative and qualitative studies, including surveys, experiments, and meta-analyses. Findings show that Generation Z and millennials have different reward preferences in the modern work environment. Generation Z values instant recognition and feedback, which is a result of their upbringing in a hyper-connected, technology-based environment. They prefer rewards that are quick and easy to access, such as digital recognition and praise on company social media. Millennials, while also appreciating feedback, place greater importance on formal recognition and long-term career development opportunities, such as upskilling and promotions. Generation Z values flexibility in work, including work-from-home options and flexible work schedules, to fit work into their personal lives. Millennials are focusing more on work-life balance policies that support their overall well-being, such as flexible leave and mental health policies. Both generations prioritize a balanced life experience where work does not dominate their personal lives. Technology-based reward systems may be more effective in increasing job satisfaction and employee retention for Generation Z compared to millennials. However, further research is needed to confirm this.

Abstract

The study aimed to investigate the impact of leaders coaching on teachers' performance and psychological capital, as well as to explore the mediating role of psychological capital in this relationship. Conducted in seven private junior high schools in Tangerang, the research utilized a simple random sampling method with a sample size of 59 teachers. The findings of the study revealed significant positive effects of leaders coaching on both teachers' performance and psychological capital. This suggests that when school leaders engage in coaching behaviors, it can lead to improvements in teacher performance and the development of psychological resources such as self-efficacy, hope, optimism, and resilience among teachers. Moreover, the study identified that the relationship between leaders coaching and teacher performance was significantly mediated by psychological capital. This implies that the influence of coaching on teacher performance is partially explained by the enhancement of psychological capital. By improving teachers' psychological resources through coaching, school leaders can indirectly contribute to enhancing teacher performance. Overall, the results of this study indicate that leaders coaching plays a crucial role in shaping teachers' performance and psychological well-being. By recognizing the mediating effect of psychological capital, the study suggests that investing in coaching initiatives can not only directly impact teacher performance but also indirectly influence performance through the development of psychological resources. This research contributes to preparing teachers to face the challenges of the education setting by enhancing their readiness and capabilities through effective coaching practices.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of Burhanuddin Az-Zarnuji's classical educational text, "Ta'limul Muta'allim," on student performance and ethical behavior within modern educational contexts. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive methodology, this research explores how the integration of Az-Zarnuji's principles influences academic achievement, student motivation, and moral conduct. Data were collected through interviews, surveys, and observations involving students and educators who have implemented the teachings of "Ta'limul Muta'allim" in their educational practices. The findings indicate significant improvements in various aspects of students' educational experiences. Academically, students demonstrated higher test scores and a deeper understanding of their subjects, attributed to the structured and disciplined study habits promoted by Az-Zarnuji. In terms of motivation, students reported increased enthusiasm and commitment to their studies, driven by the intrinsic value of knowledge emphasized in "Ta'limul Muta'allim." Moreover, there was a notable enhancement in students' ethical behavior, with a decline in instances of academic dishonesty and an increase in mutual respect among peers and towards teachers. Educators observed that the holistic approach of "Ta'limul Muta'allim" not only improved academic performance but also fostered a more respectful and ethically sound learning environment. The study underscores the relevance of integrating ethical and moral education into contemporary curricula, suggesting that the principles of "Ta'limul Muta'allim" can effectively address current educational challenges by promoting both intellectual and character development. This research contributes to the growing body of literature on the applicability of classical educational theories in modern settings and offers practical insights for educators and policymakers aiming to enhance the holistic development of students. Further research is recommended to explore the long-term impacts and broader applicability of Az-Zarnuji's teachings across different educational contexts.
