Abstract

Technological advances in education are characterized by creation of varied learning media, for instance animation. Animation can be implemented in learning, especially for early childhood to develop children’s cognitive knowledge, such as recognizing numbers. This study aims to find out the effect of MarBel animation on the ability to recognize numbers in early childhood at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 14 Kindergarten. The researcher applied quasi-experiment with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample was 15 students of Grapes Class Kindergarten B at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 14 Kindergarten. Meanwhile, data collection was carried out through observation and documentation. The data analysis applied was statistics including normality tests and hypothesis tests. The results showed the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.001 <0.05 which indicates H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is an effect of MarBel animation on the ability to recognize numbers in early childhood at Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal 14 Kindergarten.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of beading activities on the fine motor skills of children aged 4–5 years at TK Labschool Unesa 1. The background of this research problem is the lack of stimulation in fine motor activities, causing children to experience difficulties in pinching small objects, controlling finger movements, and performing activities requiring hand–eye coordination. This study employed a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest–posttest design. The subjects were 31 children from Group A. Data were collected through observation using an assessment sheet covering children’s flexibility, finger strength, and accuracy, and analyzed using the paired sample t-test. The results showed a significant difference between the pretest and posttest scores after the children participated in beading activities. The average score before treatment (pretest) was 44%, and after treatment (posttest) was 71%, with a score difference of 27%, indicating the influence of beading activities. This influence was evident from improvements in children’s ability to pinch, insert beads, and coordinate their hands and eyes after participating in beading activities. This occurred because the researcher provided three treatments and followed beading stages appropriate to the children’s developmental age.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the artistic creativity of children aged 5–6 years through pop-up book media at RA Islamiyyah Gunung Melayu. The method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) employing the Kemmis and McTaggart model in two cycles. The research subjects were 23 children, consisting of 9 girls and 14 boys. Data were collected through observation and documentation, focusing on trying new ideas, involving others, and overcoming challenges. The results showed a significant increase: in the pre-cycle, only 25.5% of children were in the developing category, which increased to 75% in Cycle I and reached 93.75% in Cycle II in the very well-developed category. These findings indicate that pop-up book media is effective in stimulating children’s artistic creativity through enjoyable and interactive learning experiences.

Abstract

The incidence of sexual violence in Indonesia is increasing, primarily due to children's limited understanding of sexuality. To tackle this issue, sexuality education programs in Early Childhood Education (PAUD) are crucial. This study developed the SAMERA model (Slogan, Start, Material, Exploration, Recap, End) to integrate sexuality education for young children, based on Islamic values, as many Islamic PAUD institutions do not have such programs. The research aimed to create a valid and effective SAMERA model for children aged 5 to 6 years. Using a quantitative approach and the Dick and Carey instructional design model, the study involved 21 children from TK Aisyiyah 02 Surabaya. Results indicated that the SAMERA model is both feasible and effective in enhancing children's understanding of sexuality concepts from an Islamic perspective. Validation scores were high: 89.28% from content experts, 90.38% from media experts, and 92.02% from educators. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test showed significant improvement (p < 0.05), rejecting the null hypothesis. Furthermore, the N-Gain analysis revealed a moderate improvement in understanding, with an average score of 0.35 after implementing the SAMERA model.

Abstract

Different types of textures—such as rough, smooth, soft, or hard—can provide varying sensory stimulation for children. Texture influences the way children interact with objects around them, as well as their learning experiences and cognitive development. Based on this premise, this study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Galactic Spin media at Putra Harapan Wiyung Kindergarten. This research is based on R&D using the ADDIE model. The results indicate that the application of Galactic Spin media for texture indicators among children aged 5–6 years at Putra Harapan Wiyung Kindergarten was categorized as effective, as the significance values were less than 0.05, with details showing a significance value of 0.000 for class A1 and 0.001 for class A2.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of Project Based Learning (PBL) in improving the cognitive abilities of children aged 5–6 years at TK Roudhoh Serang-Banten. PBL was selected as a learning approach that emphasizes children’s direct experiences in carrying out projects, which is expected to stimulate their cognitive development. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. The results show that the implementation of PBL at TK Roudhoh was highly effective in enhancing children’s cognitive skills, particularly in critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. Teachers acted as facilitators, assisting children in selecting project themes, planning activities, and providing guidance during project implementation. In addition, collaboration among children in completing projects strengthened their social skills and sense of responsibility. Reflection at the end of the project also provided opportunities for children to understand and deepen the material they had learned. Overall, PBL was proven to have a positive impact on developing the cognitive abilities of children aged 5–6 years at TK Roudhoh Serang-Banten.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of flannel board media on the ability to recognize letters in syllables in children aged 4–5 years. This research employed a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental method and a one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects were 8 children in Group A at TK At-Taqwa Bojonegoro. Data collection techniques used observation sheets, and data analysis was carried out using the Mann-Whitney U test. The results showed that there was a significant effect of using flannel board media on the ability to recognize letters in syllables, as indicated by the significance value (Asymp. Sig. 2-tailed) of 0.001 < 0.05 based on the Mann-Whitney U test. Thus, it can be concluded that flannel board media is effective for use in language learning for early childhood.

Abstract

Gross motor development is a crucial aspect of early childhood growth. One method that can be used to improve gross motor skills is through dance activities, particularly the Dongklak Dance. This study aims to determine the effect of Dongklak Dance on the gross motor development of children aged 5–6 years. This research employed a quantitative method using a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 14 children aged 5–6 years, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through observation and gross motor skills tests, analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The Wilcoxon test produced a p-value < 0.05, showing improvements in balance, coordination, and agility after the Dongklak Dance treatment. In conclusion, the Dongklak Dance can be used as an effective method to enhance gross motor skills in early childhood.

Abstract

Limited learning media for geometry often hinders early childhood in understanding basic shapes such as triangles and squares. To address this issue, G-MAG (Geometry Imagination) media was developed to strengthen the recognition and classification skills of children aged 5–6 years. The research applied the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model, involving 15 children at TK Khadijah, Surabaya. Data were obtained through observation and questionnaires, while the effectiveness test used the Wilcoxon Match Pairs Test. The media, consisting of a 35 × 8 cm geometry tower, color dice, and shape dice, was validated by experts and judged highly feasible. Effectiveness results indicated a significant improvement (Asymp. Sig (2-tailed) = 0.001 < 0.05) between pretest and posttest scores. Children showed better abilities in recognizing and classifying geometric forms through repeated play-based activities. G-MAG provides an engaging, meaningful learning experience and has potential for broader application in early childhood education.
