Abstract

This study aims to analyze the perceptions of Islamic Religious Local Content (Mulok) instructors regarding the role of the curriculum as an instrument for character building and combating juvenile delinquency in Jombang Regency, “Kota Santri.” Using a qualitative approach through in-depth interviews with four junior high school instructors, this study reveals their views, experiences, and obstacles in implementing the curriculum. The results show that the Islamic Religious Local Content curriculum is considered relevant as a moral foundation for students and effective in fostering religious behavior, discipline, and responsibility. However, counselors face challenges such as time constraints, differences in student understanding, and adaptation to the digital era. Nevertheless, this curriculum has a positive impact, with a decrease in negative behaviors such as bullying and an increase in cooperation between counselors and guidance counselors. Overall, adjustments to the material, methods, and environmental support are needed to make its implementation more effective and sustainable.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of education and training in enhancing the capacity of village government officials in Kotabaru Regency. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, supported by quantitative data from a survey of 200 village officials. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, documentation, and online questionnaires. The findings indicate that training plays a crucial role in improving the knowledge, skills, and work ethics of village officials, particularly in the areas of development planning and digital administration. The most urgent training needs identified include village potential analysis, the preparation of RPJMDes (Village Medium-Term Development Plans) and RKPDes (Village Government Work Plans), and the utilization of e-Government applications such as Siskeudes and SIPADES. The main obstacles to training implementation are long travel distances, limited funding, and training materials that are not fully relevant to field conditions. The study recommends that local governments design continuous, contextual, and needs-based training programs to promote effective and responsive village governance.

Abstract

The tradition of calculating weton in marriage is still upheld by the Javanese community in Sidodadi Village, Boliyohuto Subdistrict, Gorontalo Regency, passed down from generation to generation without significant changes in its implementation. This study aims to understand the existence and meaning of the weton tradition as a worldview in marriage, as well as the dynamics of its preservation across generations. The research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach, using in-depth interviews and participatory observation. The findings reveal that the older generation continues to strongly adhere to the weton tradition, as it is believed to bring blessings and household harmony. Meanwhile, the younger generation tends to be more flexible in its application, prioritizing emotional and financial readiness. The role of traditional leaders in preserving this tradition is highly significant, especially in providing proper understanding to the younger generation. The weton tradition serves not only as a spiritual guide but also as a symbol of Javanese identity in transmigrant areas. Despite differing perceptions among the youth, the tradition is maintained as a form of respect for ancestral values. The study concludes that the adaptation of the weton tradition within the context of modern life remains viable, provided that there is a compromise between traditional values and the practical needs of society.

Abstract

The feasibility study for land acquisition in Bungkukan Village, Kotabaru Regency, is a strategic project to support the development of an urban service center, as regulated by the  Kotabaru Regency Regional Regulation No. 6 of 2025. This research aims to assess the technical, legal, and social feasibility of the project using a socio-legal approach. The specific objectives include identifying the location, area, and status of the required land , evaluating its legal and social feasibility , and analyzing potential social impacts and land conflicts. Key findings indicate that while the project aligns with national spatial and development plans , there is significant potential for conflict due to unclear land ownership status and public concerns regarding compensation processes. The study concludes that it is necessary to conduct a thorough verification of land rights and formulate mitigation strategies that focus on transparent dialogue, fairness, and community participation. The results of this study are expected to serve as a basis for the Local Government to implement a just and sustainable land acquisition process.

Abstract

The industrialization of ethanol alcohol at the local community level creates a dilemma between economic growth and complex social-environmental externalities. This research analyzes the multidimensional impacts of the alcohol industry on social, environmental, and economic conditions in Kampung Sentul, Bekonang Village, Mojolaban District, Sukoharjo Regency. The research objectives are to identify community adaptation mechanisms, inter-stakeholder interest conflicts, environmental degradation from production waste, and local economic structural transformation. A qualitative method with case study design was implemented through in-depth interviews with 15 informants (craftsmen, workers, community leaders, village officials, environmental activists), participatory observation, and documentation analysis during June 2024-January 2025. Data analysis utilized the Miles-Huberman interactive model with Talcott Parsons' structural functionalism theoretical framework (AGIL). The research gap lies in the scarcity of studies holistically integrating social-environmental-economic impacts within the context of informal alcohol industries in Indonesia. The research novelty is the application of AGIL theory to understand social system equilibrium dynamics amid economic transformation based on controversial industries. Findings indicate that the alcohol industry creates structural tension between economic adaptation functions and dysfunctions in social integration and cultural value maintenance, necessitating policies balancing economic growth with social-environmental protection.

Abstract

Social inequality remains a persistent issue shaping the future of younger generations, particularly Generation Z, whose decisions to either pursue higher education or enter the workforce reflect broader cultural, social, and economic dynamics. This study aims to analyze Generation Z’s perceptions of social inequality in relation to their career and educational choices, emphasizing the influence of cultural values and family norms. Using a qualitative approach with thematic analysis, data were collected through interviews with six Generation Z participants aged 17‒28 who had recently decided between working and continuing their education. The findings reveal that Generation Z perceives the difference between working and studying not as a hierarchical gap but as a variation in life choices shaped by access to opportunity, cultural expectations, and individual values. Cultural norms and family influence remain significant but are increasingly balanced with ideals of independence and practicality. Generation Z demonstrates a reflective and adaptive understanding of social mobility, valuing both academic and experiential capital as pathways to success. The study concludes that social inequality among Generation Z is viewed more as unequal access rather than differences in social status. These insights provide implications for education policymakers and institutions to design culturally responsive and flexible programs that integrate work and study opportunities, fostering equality in access and recognition of diverse life choices

Abstract

The evolution of gender roles in modern families has become increasingly dynamic, including the phenomenon of fathers serving as primary caregivers. This study explores the factors driving this role shift, the challenges faced by fathers as primary caregivers, and societal responses to this change. Based on interviews with several fathers who have taken on the primary caregiving role, the study finds that economic factors, job flexibility, and changing perceptions of gender equality contribute to this decision. However, these fathers encounter challenges such as adapting to childcare responsibilities, social pressures, and time management. Societal views on this phenomenon vary, ranging from initial skepticism to gradual acceptance. This study highlights that gender roles in modern families are becoming more flexible and can be adjusted according to each family's needs and circumstances. With a broader understanding of gender role flexibility, society can better support fathers who take on the role of primary caregivers. The findings of this research are expected to provide valuable insights for families, academics, and policymakers in promoting gender equality within households.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the application of social and cultural adaptation in learning at SMP Negeri 12 Barru to create an inclusive and effective learning environment. The main problem raised is the challenge of students' social and cultural diversity that affects their understanding and participation in learning. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection through observation, interviews and document analysis to explore three main focuses: the use of inclusive language styles, the integration of local cultural elements in learning materials, and classroom management strategies. The results of the study indicate that the use of simple and relevant language facilitates adaptation between teachers and students in the learning process, especially those with a strong regional language background. The integration of local culture in learning not only strengthens students' connection with the material but also increases their sense of pride in their cultural identity. Heterogeneous classroom management strategies, involving students from various backgrounds, have been shown to increase tolerance and cooperation between students, although initially they often face challenges in the form of resistance to diversity and adjustments to learning methods. The main obstacles found were limited supporting resources and the balance between local culture-based materials and the national curriculum. This study provides recommendations for stronger teacher training and policy support in implementing diversity-based learning, so that it can serve as a model for other schools with similar characteristics.

Abstract

Short semester programs are one of the academic strategies widely implemented in higher education to accelerate study duration and provide opportunities for grade improvement. This study aims to explore the motivations and challenges experienced by students in attending short-semester courses in the Civic Education (PPKn) Study Program at Lambung Mangkurat University. A qualitative approach was employed using a phenomenological method. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with 30 students who participated in the short semester during the 2024/2025 academic year. The results indicate that the primary motivations of students include time efficiency, opportunities for grade improvement, and productive use of vacation periods. On the other hand, the challenges faced include dense course materials, limited study time, and minimal learning interaction. These findings highlight the importance of learning innovation and the development of an adaptive curriculum tailored to the characteristics of short-semester programs. This study recommends the formulation of appropriate teaching strategies and specific academic policies to support successful learning during short semesters.
