Abstract

This study aims to analyze the factors that affect social entrepreneurial intentions in Purworejo Regency, particularly among university students. Social entrepreneurship is perceived as a potential solution to address economic inequality, unemployment, and poverty, issues worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic. Data shows that Purworejo Regency has high levels of poverty and unemployment, while the number of entrepreneurs is still low. This study used a quantitative approach with a survey method of 113 students from three universities. The research instrument used was a questionnaire designed based on the research framework, distributed online via Google Form, where respondents completed closed-ended questions using a rating scale. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics were utilized, followed by correlation and multiple regression analyses conducted using IBM SPSS 25 to examine the relationships among the identified variables. Validity and reliability tests were performed to ensure the quality of the questionnaire items before hypothesis testing. The results showed that four variables empathy (EMP), self-efficacy (SE), previous experience with social issues (PEE), and entrepreneurship education (EE) had a positive and significant effect on social entrepreneurial intention (SEI), while moral obligation (MO) and perceived social support (PSS) were rejected as predictors. Specifically, empathy and self-efficacy were identified as strong predictors with significance levels less than 0.001, while PEE and EE also demonstrated significant effects with p-values of 0.008 and 0.002, respectively. This study highlights the importance of developing entrepreneurship education and support for students to increase social entrepreneurship intention in Purworejo Regency.

Abstract

This research aims to identify the types of special needs that benefit from Data-Based Decision Making (DBDM), the stages of its implementation, and the challenges teachers face in executing DBDM effectively. This research used a qualitative approach, with a systematic literature review method using the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis), systematically analyzing relevant articles from the Sage Journal and Wiley Online database scopus indexed published between 2013-2023. A total of 54 articles were initially identified, and through a thorough screening process, 5 articles were included for in-depth review. The data analysis technique for this research used a content analysis approach. The implementation of Data-Based Decision Making (DBDM) supports special needs students facing academic (e.g., reading and writing difficulties) as well as emotional or behavioral challenges. While Curriculum-Based Measurement (CBM) and Mastery Measures with clear decision rules are often used for academic difficulties, DBDM for behavioral issues is more complex due to the diversity of behaviors and required tools. Teachers are encouraged to apply DBDM, provided they develop skills in assessment selection, data processing, and analysis to adjust interventions effectively. Successful DBDM requires strong support from various school stakeholders. The review highlights the need for specialized training for teachers to enhance their competence in applying DBDM for diverse special needs students.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the the altruistic-integrated Samawa local wisdom in Sumbawa’s Scout Movements as a model of character education. This research used a qualitative approach with a phenomenological method. The data was collected through interviews, observations, and documentary studies. The data analysis technique used the Miles and Huberman model with the following stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification. The findings indicate that the Samawa cultural values are inextricably linked to scout education. Samawa’s indigenous cultural values, which include kerik salamat (abundance of gratitude and faith), to and ila (knowledge and shame), concern for the nation and homeland, mutual values (togetherness), self-care, pamendi and penyadu (obedience to a code of conduct) are closely related to five altruistic characteristics, namely empathy, belief in a just world, social responsibility, internal locus of control, and low egocentrism. These findings indicate that Samawa’s indigenous wisdom, when combined with altruistic components, plays a significant role in learning, both in formal and non-formal education settings. Based on these findings, it can be concluded that various scouting activities, which were accompanied by the cultivation of the noble values of the Samawa culture, were effective in increasing students’knowledge about scouting. The results of the research analysis can serve as a guide for stakeholders interested in enhancing students’ character qualities in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Achievement Goals as a moderator in the relationship between upward social comparison and academic self-concept among college students. The research method used a correlational quantitative with a cross-sectional design. Using convenience sampling, a total of 111 freshmen participants were obtained from an online questionnaire. PROCESS Model, 14 Hayes tested moderating effects across mastery and performance goals with approach-avoidance dimensions. Results showed no overall moderating effect of mastery or performance goals. However, performance-avoidance goals intensified the negative impact of upward social comparison on academic self-concept at low to moderate levels, while performance-approach and mastery goals had no significant effects. These findings suggest that students with performance-avoidance goals are more vulnerable in competitive settings, underscoring the need for targeted support to enhance academic self-concept across goal orientations.
