Abstract

Hypertension is a major global health issue that significantly contributes to morbidity and mortality. This study examines the relationship between knowledge and attitudes towards preventing hypertension recurrence among hypertensive patients in Indonesia. Utilizing a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 49 hypertensive patients through questionnaires assessing knowledge and attitudes. The results reveal a significant correlation between good knowledge and positive attitudes, with 65% of those with good knowledge exhibiting a positive attitude compared to 35% among those with poor knowledge. The odds ratio (OR=1.643, p=0.000) indicates that patients with better knowledge are significantly more likely to have a positive attitude towards hypertension prevention. These findings underscore the importance of educational interventions in improving health outcomes. Tailored educational programs that address psychological and nutritional aspects, as well as social support mechanisms, are recommended to enhance patient knowledge and foster positive health behaviors. This study highlights the need for continuous patient education and support to reduce the recurrence of hypertension. Public health strategies should focus on integrating comprehensive educational approaches to empower patients and improve adherence to hypertension management practices. The significant role of education in shaping health attitudes and behaviors emphasizes its critical place in public health initiatives aimed at combating hypertension.

Abstract

Most Producing Production Ability (MPPA), also known as Expected Production Ability (EPA) in dairy cattle, indicates the ability to produce milk that can be passed down to offspring. The objective of this study is to obtain the repeatability values of morning and evening milk production in the second and fourth lactations of Friesian Holstein (FH) dairy cows as a basis for estimating MPPA values, ranking, and the relationship of milk production in livestock. This case study uses a sample determined by purposive sampling technique, focusing on cows with recorded second and fourth lactations. The research was conducted at a local dairy farm in the Pujon area of Malang Regency. The sample consisted of 12 cows with the same day, month, and lactation period. Data were analyzed using variance analysis, correlation, and regression. The results showed that the repeatability value of morning milk production ranged from 0,63 to 0,99, categorized as high, while the repeatability of evening milk production ranged from 0,39 to 0,99, categorized as moderate to high. The MPPA values from the study ranged from 3.602 liters per cow to 10,811 liters per cow (morning milk production) and from 1,237 liters/cow to 5,024 liters/cow (evening milk production). The ranking of cattle based on MPPA morning milk production ranged from 1 to 7. The relationship between morning and evening milk production is represented by the equation Y = 0,6213, X = 1,7587 with a determination coefficient of 88,68%.

Abstract

Acne is a dysbiotic condition caused by Cutibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. Gribong (Archidendron clypearia (Jack) I.C. Nielson) has been empirically used as a treatment for facial problems by the people of Bangka Belitung. This study aims to test the potential of ethanol extract and fractions of gribong leaves against two bacteria that cause acne. This study is an experimental research conducted in four stages, namely phytochemical testing, antibacterial activity testing, minimum inhibitory concentration testing, and minimum bactericidal concentration testing and equivalence tests against clindamycin antibiotics as positive controls. The results of this study showed (1) Secondary metabolites contained in 96% ethanol extract, ethyl acetate fraction and n-butanol fraction are phenolics, flavonoids, tannins and saponins. Terpenoids were only found in the ethanol extract. The ethyl acetate fraction found no alkaloids and the n-hexane fraction contained only steroids. (2) The 96% ethanol extract, ethyl acetate fraction and n-butanol fraction had antibacterial activity. (3) The highest antibacterial activity was shown by the ethyl acetate fraction with KHM on C. acnes at 0.375% and on S. epidermidis at 1% and KBM for both bacteria at 2.5%. (4) The equivalence value of antibacterial activity of fractions to antibacterial antibiotic clindamycin is still relatively low but still has good antibacterial activity. In conclusion, the ethanol extract and its fractions have potential as anti-acne against C. acnes and S. epidermidis bacteria.
