Abstract

This study is motivated by the low literacy skills and Civics (Civic Education) learning outcomes of elementary school students, which are caused by teacher-centered instruction and the limited optimal use of literacy-based strategies and digital media. The research gap arises from the lack of studies implementing strategies that integrate literacy with interactive media. This study aims to examine the effect of the RADEC (Read, Answer, Discuss, Explain, Create) strategy on the literacy skills and Civics learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at SDN Kepanjen 2. Employing a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental non-equivalent control group design, the study involved an experimental class applying the RADEC strategy and a control class using an expository strategy supported by Canva. The instruments consisted of expert-validated literacy and learning outcome tests. Data were collected through pretests and posttests and analyzed using an Independent Samples t-test and Tests of Between-Subjects Effects with SPSS 27. The results revealed a significant difference between the two groups, with Sig. 0.000 < 0.05 for literacy and t = 5.757 (p = 0.000) for learning outcomes. These findings confirm that the RADEC strategy supported by Canva is effective in improving literacy skills and Civics learning outcomes and is recommended as a 21st-century learning strategy.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of Adobe Animate application-based learning media in improving fifth-grade students’ understanding of science, particularly the topic of human organs, at SDN 1 Labuan Pandan in the 2024/2025 academic year. A quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest control group design was employed. Data were collected through tests, observations, and documentation, and analyzed using Two-Way ANOVA and N-Gain tests with SPSS. The results showed that Adobe Animate-based learning media significantly improved students’ understanding. The Two-Way ANOVA indicated significant effects of learning media, gender, and their interaction (F = 4.43; 13.41; and 19.70, respectively; F_table = 4.15; α = 0.05). The experimental class achieved a higher average post-test score (86.56) and N-Gain value (0.7, moderate–high) compared to the control class (51.56; N-Gain = 0.1, low). Normality and homogeneity assumptions were met, and the R² value of 0.705 indicated that 70.5% of the variance in students’ understanding was explained by the learning media, gender, and their interaction. These findings confirm that Adobe Animate-based learning media are effective in enhancing fifth-grade students’ understanding of science concepts

Abstract

This study examines the integration of local wisdom-based instructional materials in nonfiction reading comprehension for elementary school students using Barrett’s Taxonomy as a theoretical framework. A systematic literature review was conducted on 20 empirical studies published between 2021 and 2025 that explore culturally responsive teaching materials in reading instruction, focusing on their development, implementation, and effectiveness in enhancing comprehension skills. The findings indicate that local wisdom-based materials consistently improve students’ literal, inferential, and evaluative comprehension, while also strengthening cultural identity, motivation, and engagement by connecting learning content to students’ real-life cultural contexts. Barrett’s Taxonomy supports this process by providing a structured progression from basic understanding to higher-order critical thinking, making reading instruction more systematic and meaningful. However, most existing studies still emphasize narrative texts and show limited explicit application of Barrett’s Taxonomy in nonfiction contexts, indicating a significant research gap. Additionally, variations in implementation and limited contextual diversity suggest the need for broader investigation. In conclusion, the integration of local wisdom-based materials with Barrett’s Taxonomy is an effective approach to enhancing nonfiction reading comprehension in elementary education, as it combines cultural relevance with structured cognitive development. Nevertheless, further research is needed to expand its application across different text types, improve instructional design models, and examine its long-term impact on students’ comprehension abilities and cultural understanding.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the integration of computational thinking (CT) in developing teaching materials to enhance elementary students’ reading comprehension. Using a systematic literature review guided by PRISMA, 24 peer-reviewed articles published between 2020 and 2025 were analyzed, focusing on CT integration in reading instruction, the development of digital teaching materials and worksheets, and empirical evidence of effectiveness. The findings indicate that CT significantly improves reading comprehension through approaches such as story mapping, digital storytelling, gamification, and interactive worksheets, which support students in organizing ideas, identifying patterns, and constructing meaning from texts. The effectiveness is greater when CT is combined with narrative-centered learning, problem-based learning, and metacognitive strategies, as these approaches foster deeper engagement and critical thinking during the reading process. Additionally, CT-based interventions encourage active learning and promote students’ ability to interpret narrative texts more systematically. However, several limitations were identified, including small sample sizes, limited focus on interpretive comprehension, and context-specific implementations that may restrict generalizability. In conclusion, CT integration shows strong potential to improve elementary reading comprehension, but further comprehensive research is needed to explore long-term impacts, cross-cultural applicability, and the explicit integration of CT principles in literacy instruction, along with the development of standardized frameworks and teacher training programs to support effective and sustainable implementation.

Abstract

Elementary school learning often faces problems related to low attention, weak learning motivation, and limited active participation during classroom activities. These issues commonly arise from teacher-centered instruction and a lack of varied learning experiences. One approach considered to address these problems is gamification, which integrates game elements into learning activities to increase student engagement. This study aims to identify the forms of gamification used in elementary school learning and analyze implementation strategies based on previous empirical studies. The research employed a Systematic Literature Review method by reviewing eleven selected articles from the Scopus and Taylor & Francis Online databases, published between 2020 and 2025, written in English, and available in full-text format. Data analysis was conducted through narrative synthesis. The findings show that gamification is implemented through digital learning platforms, interactive physical tools, and narrative-based classroom activities. Common implementation strategies include designing learning tasks in progressive levels, providing rewards, giving instant feedback, and using stories or characters to contextualize learning materials. The study concludes that gamification has the potential to improve student motivation and participation when game elements are planned systematically and aligned with learning objectives

Abstract

Personalized teaching materials are an innovation in answering the diversity of student characteristics in higher education. However, its implementation still faces challenges. This study aims to analyse the trends and identify research gaps of personalized teaching materials usages. The method used is a critical literature review of articles from internationally reputable databases. The results of the study show two main findings: (1) there is a transformation in the use of personalized teaching materials in three phases such as: technical and standardization phase; the dynamic pedagogical and adaptive integration phase, and the artificial intelligence and holistic welfare phase; (2) There are four main research gaps such as: inconsistencies in measurement methodology, obstacles to contextual implementation, conceptual ambiguity of personal needs, and limited lecturer readiness. The most valuable finding from  review that the use of PTM where the implementation no longer lies in the "what" is learned but in the "how" the system is intelligently able to empathize with the cognitive and emotional state of learners to create a truly meaningful instructional experience. These are  theoretical contribution in clarifying the evolution of the concept of PTM as well as practical contributions to the development of adaptive learning designs in higher education.

Abstract

Educational developments in the 21st century demand the strengthening of higher-order thinking skills, particularly critical and creative thinking in mathematics education. The reality is that learning is still dominated by conventional approaches that focus on procedures, thereby failing to sufficiently develop students’ analytical skills. On the other hand, technological advancements open up opportunities for innovation through digital platform-supported e-worksheets. The Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model is relevant because it emphasizes the resolution of authentic problems that encourage deep thinking. This study aims to analyze and synthesize research findings related to the development of PBL-based mathematics worksheets supported by Liveworksheet in enhancing the critical and creative thinking of MTs students. The method used is a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) following the PRISMA procedure. Data were obtained from Google Scholar, DOAJ, ERIC, SINTA journals, and Scopus for the period 2020–2025, with 10 selected articles. The results of the study indicate that PBL is effective in enhancing critical thinking through analysis and problem-solving. The integration of Liveworksheet enhances interactivity and learning feedback. Research remains focused primarily on critical thinking, while the integration of critical and creative thinking remains limited. It can be concluded that PBL-based worksheets supported by Liveworksheet have the potential to effectively and adaptively enhance the critical and creative thinking skills of MTs students.
