Abstract

The construction industry in developing countries is undergoing a pivotal transformation, driven by the integration of information and communication technology (ICT). This study investigates how ICT adoption influences the adaptability and innovation capabilities of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) within this sector. Employing a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative data from 50 construction SMEs across chosen regions in Indonesia, with qualitative insights from 15 in-depth interviews. Findings reveal that ICT significantly enhances both adaptability and innovation performance. Notably, adaptability serves as a key mediating factor, linking ICT usage to innovative outcomes. Technologies such as mobile-based project coordination tools, cloud platforms, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) were found to improve operational responsiveness and foster novel approaches in project execution and service delivery. However, the study also identifies critical contextual challenges—including limited infrastructure, cost barriers, and cultural resistance—that hinder widespread ICT integration. The research contributes to theory by extending the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework to include adaptability as a mediating construct. Practically, it offers policy and managerial recommendations for enabling digital transformation in resource-constrained construction environments. Ultimately, the study underscores the strategic potential of ICT to enhance resilience and competitiveness among construction SMEs, provided that adoption is contextually supported and strategically implemented.

Abstract

In the construction sector, the tender process in the procurement of goods and services is carried out to select and appoint companies that will perform the required work. Companies that feel capable may participate in tender offers, and the selected company will carry out the work in accordance with the agreed contract. The procurement of goods and services, also known as tendering, is a government procedure aimed at awarding projects to entrepreneurs. Government procurement is conducted through an e-procurement or electronic tender process, in accordance with Presidential Regulation No. 04 of 2015. This process is intended to minimize direct meetings between the organizing committee and service providers, thereby promoting fair competition. The electronic tender process includes steps such as the announcement of the tender, downloading of selection and qualification documents, clarification of tender documents, submission of bid documents (price, administrative, and technical), submission of qualification documents, evaluation of bids, evaluation of qualification documents and verification of qualifications, delivery of the minutes of tender results, determination of the winner, announcement of the winner, objection period for the tender result, and signing of the contract. This paper uses a literature review method by analyzing several articles, journals, books, and official circulars relevant to the author's objective, which is to understand the procurement process for goods and services in construction consultancy. From the results of the literature review, it is found that there are many steps required to achieve optimal outcomes in the tender process for goods and service providers. Due to various regulatory changes, it is important for providers to study applicable rules, such as the latest Presidential Regulation No. 1 of 2025 regarding budget efficiency in construction. Providers are thus required to prepare pricing that matches the project specifications being tendered, while also staying within existing efficiency limits. This paper is expected to assist small or newly established companies in participating in fair and healthy competition. It is important to consider the company’s capacity to participate in tenders, as well as compliance with current regulations, including proper calculation of the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).

Abstract

The use of nanosilica in porous asphalt mixtures has become a major concern in research to improve the performance of asphalt mixtures. Nanosilica has the potential to improve the mechanical and rheological properties of mixtures, increase resistance to permanent death, and improve permeability and structural stability. This study was carried out using a literature reflection method (literature review) of relevant previous research to understand the impact of nanosilica on porous asphalt mixtures. This research aims to determine the effectiveness of nanosilica in increasing mechanical resistance, damage, and resistance to extreme environmental conditions. The results of the literature review show that the addition of nanosilica at levels of 2% to 6% can increase resistance to decay and permanent freezing. In addition, nanosilica also contributes to increasing the complex shear modulus, reducing Cantabro loss, and improving the connectivity of air voids in porous asphalt mixtures. Thus, nanosilica can be a promising additive in porous asphalt mixtures to improve structural durability and long-term performance. Further studies are needed to determine the optimal formulation to achieve a balance between stability, interference, and permeability. Keywords: nanosilica, porous asphalt, mixture performance, mechanical resistance, permeability.

Abstract

Industrial waste is a resource for green concrete. One example is iron lathe waste, which is considered hazardous and toxic (B3). This form is spiral flakes. This has potential to pollute the environment, so it needs to be recycled by used as fiber in pavement concrete. This application was chosen because paving blok does not require high-quality concrete. The quality for types C and D is K175-K125 and can be made with manual mixing. It applied as pedestrian. Fiber concrete have better durability than normal concrete in withstanding impack loads. So it is expected to less cracking. Therefore, an impact drop weight experiment was conducted. The specimen was a cylinder. The diameter was 15 cm and the height was 6 cm. The fiber variety was 0%, 6%,9% dan 12% of the concrete mix design. Impact drop weight test will provide information abaout impacts resistance and absorbed energy. The results showed that concrete containing 12% iron lathe waste fiber had 239,05% better energy absorption performance than normal concrete.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship and compatibility between the Standard Penetration Test (SPT) N-value and soil classification based on the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS). The SPT is commonly used to determine in-situ soil density and consistency, while the USCS provides a comprehensive classification of soil types through grain size distribution and Atterberg Limits parameters. Data were collected from six different depth intervals, consisting of N-SPT values, grain size analysis (gravel, sand, silt, clay), and Atterberg Limits (LL, PL, IP). The results indicate that all soil samples are classified as high-plasticity clay (CH) according to the USCS, characterized by Liquid Limit (LL) values ranging from 70.45% to 86.83% and Plasticity Index (PI) values from 38.91 to 49.26. The N-SPT values range from 2 to 21, representing soil conditions from very soft to medium dense. Despite the variation in N-SPT values, the soil classification remained consistently within the CH group, dominated by fine-grained materials with high plasticity. These findings suggest that the N-SPT values describe relative soil strength but are not sufficiently sensitive to reflect variations in fine-grained soil characteristics, which are primarily controlled by plasticity and mineral composition. The study concludes that the direct correlation between N-SPT values and USCS classifications is not linear for high-plasticity cohesive soils. Therefore, the interpretation of soil conditions in CH-type soils requires an integrated approach that combines field testing (SPT) with laboratory analyses (grain size and Atterberg Limits). This highlights the importance of a comprehensive geotechnical evaluation to achieve a more accurate understanding of soil behavior. Keywords:N-SPT, USCS, Atterberg Limits, grain size analysis, CH soil, soil classification.
