Abstract

This study seeks to strike a balance between school program execution and teacher motivation, specifically the government's program to comprehend and implement the independent curriculum. The Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture's independent teaching platform (PMM), which is implemented online, was also used to give teachers and schools with an awareness of the independent curriculum, which is a new curriculum in Indonesia. To collect research data, the study used a qualitative research approach, but for analysis, quantitative methods were used. As a result, the generated ordinal data is first converted into interval data for statistical inference analysis. Data sources are teachers who are not included in the driving teacher program. The investigation revealed various irregularities in the findings of the independent teaching platform (PMM) program. First, experienced and older teachers do better. However, it appears that this is not always relevant to the understanding and implementation of the independent curriculum. Second, teachers who are young in age and experienced are suspected of not performing well. However, it appears that they can also do adequately. Thus, the PMM program can be viewed as one that truly aids teachers in comprehending and implementing the independent curriculum.

Abstract

This study explores the role of community education in smart city development within the Indonesian context. The purpose is to understand urban residents' perceptions, attitudes, and barriers toward technology and smart city initiatives and evaluate the effectiveness of current community education programs. A cross-sectional research design was employed, involving surveys and interviews with residents from cities participating in Indonesia's 'Towards 100 Smart Cities' initiative. Thematic and statistical analyses were conducted to analyze the data collected. The findings reveal a mix of optimism and concerns among respondents regarding technology and smart city initiatives, highlighting the importance of addressing privacy, security, and inclusivity issues. While current community education programs effectively raise awareness about smart city concepts, gaps in accessibility and inclusivity persist, suggesting the need for targeted interventions. The study's novelty lies in its contextualized approach to understanding smart city development within Indonesia's diverse urban landscape. It provides practical insights for policymakers and urban planners, emphasizing the importance of community education in promoting inclusive and participatory smart city development. The study contributes to the growing literature on smart city development by offering valuable insights and recommendations for advancing sustainable and equitable urban development in Indonesia and beyond.

Abstract

The post-COVID-19 education transformation has accelerated the adoption of digital solutions, giving rise to the concept of digital citizenship as an essential dimension of responsible citizenship. Islamic Higher Education Institutions (PTKI) in Indonesia have undergone significant changes with the integration of technology in learning. Challenges of privacy, security, and responsible digital behavior need to be addressed holistically. Digital competencies, including data literacy, communication, digital content creation, and problem-solving, are key to shaping digital citizenship. In-depth research on the relationship between digital competencies and digital citizenship among PTKI students is necessary to formulate effective strategies in education. This study aims to analyze the relationship between digital competencies of Indonesian Islamic higher education students developed through the educational process and their capabilities in responsible digital citizenship. The study involves 200 PTKI students obtained through convenience sampling. Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) analysis technique is employed. The research highlights the crucial role of problem-solving, data literacy, communication, collaboration, digital content creation, and digital learning policy in shaping digital citizenship among PTKI students. Integrating these skills into the curriculum is vital for cultivating a meticulous, skilled, and responsible digital generation. Challenges of data privacy and security necessitate a holistic approach with clear digital learning policies. The study underscores the need for students and education stakeholders to adapt to digital competencies and citizenship. The DigComp digital competency framework serves as a crucial reference, while effective learning includes online module training, cybersecurity workshops, and ethical digital behavior campaigns. In conclusion, PTKI and the Ministry of Religious Affairs need to synergize to strengthen religious education in the digital era.

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping the personality and character of students. Knowledge management is a key component in education aimed at enhancing human resource quality. However, implementing knowledge management can be challenging in Indonesia. This study aims to analyze the knowledge management system at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta using the SECI model (Socialization, Externalization, Combination, and Internalization). This research adopts a qualitative approach with a field study methodology. Data were collected through documentation, interviews, and observations involving the principal, educators, vice principals, teachers, students, and the school's social media platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. To ensure data validity, qualitative descriptive analysis was applied. The findings indicate that SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta has implemented a knowledge management system within its curriculum, but it is not yet fully effective. The school employs two curricula: the Merdeka Curriculum and the K13 Curriculum, each tailored to the needs of the students. Key challenges include human resources, infrastructure, budget, and technology. Through the application of the SECI model, knowledge management has proven to be beneficial in generating new knowledge and improving the quality of education in the institution. This study concludes that optimizing knowledge management using the SECI model can enhance both the quality of education and the overall knowledge management system at SMP Muhammadiyah 1 Surakarta. This is achieved through the principal’s delegation of tasks and the provision of training to educators, aimed at enhancing their technological skills and teaching methodologies.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how teacher interpret and implement Ki Hajar Dewantara's educational democracy in contemporary classrooms. The research employs a qualitative method with a single case study design, where data were collected through open-ended interviews and observations of a teacher applying democratic principles in their classroom. The data were processed using thematic analysis with descriptive coding. The findings reveal four main themes: (1) Democratic Values in Education through Ki Hajar Dewantara’s Philosophy, (2) Educational Democracy within the Framework of the Trilogi Kepemimpinan, (3) Innovation in Democratic Education, and (4) The Challenges of Democracy in Contemporary Classrooms. The results show that the teacher interprets Dewantara’s democratic principles as responsible freedom for students to express their opinions and equal rights regardless of background. This is implemented through the Leadership Trilogy, positioning the teacher as a role model, replacing punishment with class agreements, and fostering a positive classroom environment. The teacher also applies democratic principles by incorporating local approaches, experiential learning, and integrating spiritual aspects to counter neoliberalism and neoconservatism in education. The challenges faced by the teacher in implementing educational democracy relate to the ever-changing kodrat alam and kodrat zaman of students, as well as differing views among the Tripusat Pendidikan. However, these challenges are addressed through reflection and self-improvement.
