Jurnal Penelitian dan Pengukuran Psikoogi (JPPP) is an open access journal in psychology published by The Faculty of Psychology Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ). JPPP is a bi-annual peer reviewed journal that publishes original and meaningful contributions to the field of psychology in Indonesia. The journal aims for experimental, theoretical, measurement development and theoretical review articles in all areas of psychology. In particular, we expected to received article with advances statistical analysis in measurement, psychometric, and modelling study in psychology.

Abstract

More than two decades have passed, and the events of the May 1998 riots have left trauma and fear in the victims up until this day. One of the consequences is there is a shifting view and behavior between Chinese Indonesians and Pribumi (Indigenous) community. Based on previous research, it was found that forgiveness could increase individual prosocial tendencies and be able to cope with trauma, especially in cases of racial violence trauma. Therefore, this research was conducted to find out about the forgiveness of the direct victims of the May 1998 riots. This study used a phenomenological approach with thematic analysis, with data collection methods in the form of interviews with three participants who were victims of the May 1998 riots. The data obtained from the interviews were then processed using the thematic analysis method. From the results of the study, it was found that the three participants had the determination to forgive the perpetrators and not to blame the Indigenous ethnicity for the riots that occurred, even though there were still shifting in the feelings and behavior of the Chinese ethnic towards the PribumiIndonesians as a result of the May 1998 riots.

Abstract

This study aims to investigate the contributions of Strength-Based Parenting and Academic Self-Efficacy to the level of engagement among students at SD Mutiara Harapan Pangkalan Kerinci Riau. Strength-Based Parenting is an approach to parenting that focuses on developing a child's strengths and potential, while Academic Self-Efficacy refers to an individual's belief in his ability to face academic tasks. This study used a quantitative approach involving 102 students of SD Mutiara Harapan as the research participants. Data was obtained through a questionnaire that measured the level of Strength-Based Parenting, Academic Self-Efficacy, and student engagement. Data analysis was performed using regression techniques to examine the relationship between the variables studied. The results showed that Strength-Based Parenting and Academic Self-Efficacy significantly contributed to the level of engagement of SD Mutiara Harapan students. The higher the level of Strength-Based Parenting received by students and the higher the Academic Self-Efficacy that students have, the level of student engagement tends to increase. This research makes an important contribution to understanding the factors that influence engagement in elementary students, especially in the context of using the Strength-Based Parenting approach and developing Academic Self-Efficacy. The results of this study can provide practical guidance for parents and educators in strengthening student engagement through positive parenting approaches and building academic self-confidence.

Abstract

Environmentally-friendly behavior is widely studied in Indonesia. However during the last 5 years, there has not yet been a study focusing on testing the psychometric properties of such measure. The main purpose of this study is to adapt an instrument to measure environmentally-friendly behavior and to examine the reliability and validity of the Indonesian translation of the scale. The sample composed of 196 adults with age range 18-25 years old. The original version contained 10 items. The final version of the translated scale contained five items, which showed a reliability coefficients of 0.78. The reasons for the elimination of items in the translated version are discussed. Moreover, the results of the factor analysis confirmed the fit of the model measuring a single factor, namely environmentally-friendly behavior. Ultimately, it was determined that the Indonesian version of the Environmentally-Friendly Behavior is a reliable and valid scale.

Abstract

The Psychology Major at X University uses a lot of English references. Learning effectiveness is reduced for students with poor understanding of English. Understanding a language is related to long-term memory, the system responsible for storing various information for a long time. Mnemonic techniques can be used to organizing memory. This study aims to determine whether the mnemonic method can help students to improve long term memory in mastering English vocabulary. Participants are active students of the Psychology Major at X University, aged 18-22 years. The division of participants into the experimental and control group was carried out by random assignment. The instrument used a module containing 35 English vocabularies, the mnemonic was given to the experimental group module. Posttest in this study used 20 multiple choice questions. Each correct answer is given a score of 5 and wrong is 0. This study shows that there is no significant difference (t = 0.97, Sig. = 0.17) between the experimental group (mean = 69.18, SD = 7.07) with the control group (mean = 59.23, SD = 7.36). So, it can be concluded that the mnemonic technique does not make a significant difference in learning English vocabulary

Abstract

Students may indeed be seen as not committing acts of corruption at all with state funds, but the violations they commit are irresponsibility for what has been entrusted to them, especially in an academic context. If positioned equally, conditions like this have the potential to cause students to commit the same acts of corruption as public officials. Based on this problem, a special intervention or treatment is needed to improve student academic honesty, one of which is anti-corruption education training. This research aims to see how effective anti-corruption education training is in improving academic honesty in students. The research method used was an experiment with the target subjects being 22 active students of the Psychology Study Program Unjani Yogyakarta. The experimental design used in this research is One Group Pretest Posttest Design, where there is only 1 group of subjects, namely the experimental group. Based on the results of data analysis through the paired sample t test, a significance value of 0.000 was obtained (p < 0.05). This means that there is a very significant difference before and after the anti-corruption education training given to the training participants.

Abstract

The role of Intellectual Humility (IH) - an awareness of the limits of one's knowledge - is crucial in fostering meaningful social interactions and dialogues within pluralistic societies. Previous research found that people who need quick answers and avoid ambiguous situations or different opinions (known as individuals with high Need for Closure, or NFC) also have low IH. However, there are also studies that do not find a significant relationship between NFC and IH. Therefore, this study aimed to investigate to what extent NFC could predict IH and whether being dogmatic played a mediating role in the relationship of NFC and IH. We surveyed 232 individuals aged 17–70 years (mean age = 30.69, SD = 10.98, 55.6% female), administering the NFC, IH, and Dogmatism scales. Our mediation analysis, employing PROCESS Model 4, revealed that while NFC did not directly predict IH, it indirectly predicted IH through the full mediation of individual dogmatism. This finding underscores the critical role of dogmatism as a factor that can be targeted to enhance IH. Discussion of the findings of this research will emphasize the importance of a deeper understanding of factors that can reduce dogmatism in the future to improve IH and consequently, the quality of social discourse in pluralistic societies.

Abstract

Pada Era Society 5.0 yang dinamis dan penuh tantangan sekarang, psikologi memiliki peran krusial membantu masyarakat menavigasi kompleksitas modernitas. Dalam lanskap yang terus berubah dengan percepatan teknologi seperti kecerdasan buatan dan isu-isu sosial yang meliputi kemiskinan, kerusakan lingkungan, serta diskriminasi di tempat kerja, kehidupan manusia menjadi semakin kompleks dan menuntut solusi yang tidak hanya efektif tetapi juga responsif. Psikologi, sebagai ilmu yang mempelajari perilaku serta proses fisiologis dan mental yang mendasarinya, memiliki kapasitas untuk menerapkan pengetahuannya tentang dinamika manusia untuk mengatasi tantangan dan permasalahan yang dihadapi manusia (Weiten dkk., 2018). Dengan demikian, Psikologi tidak hanya bertujuan untuk memahami dan menganalisis interaksi manusia dengan lingkungan dan isu-isunya, tetapi juga memberikan intervensi yang tepat sebagai respons terhadap kompleksitas tersebut. Salah satu intervensi psikologi dalam menanggapi isu-isu sosial adalah intervensi perubahan perilaku. Perubahan perilaku dapat diaplikasikan dalam berbagai konteks. Misalnya, dalam konteks lingkungan, perubahan perilaku diterapkan dengan efektif mendorong penggunaan transportasi publik (Bamberg, 2006), mendorong praktik perilaku konservasi air atau penggunaan sumber daya air secara bijak (Datta dkk., 2015; Seyranian dkk., 2016), meningkatkan kebiasaan penggunaan kertas yang hemat (Egebark & Ekstrom, 2016), serta mengurangi penggunaan plastik (Rubens dkk., 2015). Dalam domain kesehatan, perubahan perilaku terwujud misalnya dalam meningkatkan jumlah kunjungan perempuan untuk melakukan pemeriksaan dini kesehatan payudara (Cohen & Azaiza, 2010) dan mendorong individu untuk lebih mengkonsumsi makanan sehat (Montagni dkk., 2020). Pada konteks kepatuhan membayar pajak, intervensi perubahan perilaku terbukti dapat meningkatkan ketaatan membayar pajak masyarakat di Guatemala (Kettle, 2016). Dalam konteks finansial, intervensi perubahan perilaku mendorong individu menabung secara lebih teratur sebagai persiapan masa pensiun (Garcia & Vila, 2020).

Abstract

Asesmen kompetensi SDM memiliki peran krusial dalam organisasi, khusunya pada PT X, sebuah BUMN di sektor transportasi Indonesia. PT X mengembangkan tes kompetensi kepemimpinan melalui Situational Judgement Test (SJT), diharapkan dapat secara objektif mengukur kompetensi dengan skenario pekerjaan realistis. Penelitian ini melibatkan 2.368 karyawan PT X dari kelompok jabatan level 1. Analisis butir dilakukan pada 48 aitem yang mengukur 7 kompetensi kepemimpinan pada level kompetensi 1, dengan tujuan meningkatkan mutu tes melalui perbaikan atau penghapusan butir yang tidak sesuai. Ditemukan bahwa sebanyak 15 aitem dijawab >50% responden, sedangkan 33 aitem dijawab benar oleh <50% responden. Meskipun sebagian besar aitem memiliki tingkat kesukaran yang baik (-2 ≥ b ≥ +2), beberapa aitem seperti DLE 1.3.3, DLE 1.2.2, dan DEX 1.2.2 yang memiliki tingkat kesukaran kurang baik. Pengukuran paling akurat ditemukan pada beberapa aitem, seperti SOR 1.2.1, SOR 1.3.1, SOR 1.1.1, dan SOR 1.1.2, sementara DEX 1.2.2 menunjukkan pengukuran yang kurang akurat. Evaluasi kecocokan (Infit & Outfit) pada seluruh aitem menunjukkan nilai yang sesuai (0,5 – 1,5) dengan kompetensi yang diukur, menegaskan keandalan tes. Wright Map menunjukkan kompetensi DEX mampu mengukur keseluruhan abilitas; kompetensi DLE mampu memotret abilitas responden rata-rata hingga tinggi; kompetensi Strategic Orientation (SOR), Developing Organizational Capabilities (DOC), dan Leading Change (LCH) memotret abilitas rata-rata; kompetensi Global Business Savvy (GBS) dan Managing Diversity (MDI) memotret abilitas pada tingkat rata-rata dan di bawah rata-rata. Penelitian ini menyimpulkan bahwa tes SJT ini memiliki kualitas butir yang baik dan dapat diandalkan untuk asesmen kompetensi PT X secara berkelanjuta.

Abstract

The development of information technology has brought various conveniences to everyday life, including easier access to online games. However, a negative impact that is often overlooked is online game addiction which can adversely affect a person's physical, mental and social health. The purpose of this study is to understand the influence of loneliness and self-control on online game addiction in gaming community members. This study used a correlational quantitative approach with 220 research subjects from the online gaming community. This study used the OGA scale from Lemmens (2009) to measure online game addiction variables, UCLA Loneliness Scale Version 3 from Russel (1996) to measure loneliness variables, and Self-Control Scale (SCS) from Tangney (2004) to measure self-control variables. The results showed that there is a significant influence between loneliness and self-control on online game addiction.
