Abstract

This study aims to improve students' mathematics learning outcomes by implementing the Problem Based Learning model with a Culturally Responsive Teaching approach. The subjects of the study were 32 eighth-grade students from SMP Negeri 1 Labuhan Haji, Lombok Timur. The research used a classroom action research (CAR) method conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, action, observation, and reflection stages. The results showed a significant improvement in learning outcomes from the pre-cycle to cycle I and cycle II. In the pre-cycle, only 15.63% of students achieved mastery, with an average score of 52.96. After the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model with a Culturally Responsive Teaching approach in cycle I, the mastery percentage increased to 59.38% with an average score 67,97, and in cycle II, it reached 87.50% with an average score of 85.10. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model with a Culturally Responsive Teaching approach is effective in improving students' mathematics learning outcomes.

Abstract

The low learning achievement of students in class VIII UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Kupang in mathematics was the motivation for this research. The aim of this research is to ascertain whether learning style, learning interest, learning environment, and independent learning have a direct impact on mathematics learning achievement. Additionally, it seeks to ascertain whether learning style, learning interest, and learning environment have an indirect on mathematics learning achievement through independent learning. This type of research is quantitative research with survey method. This research was conducted at UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Kupang. The population in this research were all 8th grade students of UPTD SMP Negeri 5 Kupang in the 2023/2024 school year consisting of 10 classes. The sample taken was 2 classes consisting of 60 students using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques using questionnaires and documentation. The data analysis technique used is the classical assumption test and path analysis. The results of this research, namely (1) Learning style, learning interest, learning environment, and independent learning have a significant impact directly on mathematics learning achievement. (2) Learning style, learning interest, and learning environment have no significant indirect impact on mathematics learning achievement through independent learning.

Abstract

In the digital era, technology has permeated various aspects of life, including education. One popular implementation is the use of educational games such as Wordwall, which has been proven to enhance students' learning motivation. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Wordwall on students' learning motivation in Indonesia. The research employs content analysis methods on relevant literature collected from various academic sources. The results show that Wordwall increases students' intrinsic motivation from 60% to 85%, extrinsic motivation from 55% to 80%, and interest in lessons from 65% to 90%. This improvement aligns with Social Cognitive Theory and ARCS theory, emphasizing the importance of interactive media and material relevance in boosting learning motivation. These findings are consistent with previous research indicating that technology-based learning media effectively enhances students' learning motivation. Therefore, integrating Wordwall into the curriculum can create a more interactive and effective learning environment and improve the quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

During the learning of mathematics in SMA Negeri Benlutu, especially in class XI, teacher use WhatsApp group to send materials in .pdf format to students. Meanwhile, there is no sufficient learning media to support learning in the classroom. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to create interactive learning media, to help students understand valid, practical, and effective mathematical concepts about geometric transformation material in class XI MIPA SMA Negeri Benlutu. This research uses the research and development (R&D) method with the ADDIE development model consisting of five stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The instruments used are interviews, questionnaires, and concept understanding tests. The results showed that the ThransForMath application met the three criteria of learning media feasibility: valid, practical, and effective. Valid criteria were obtained from the average validity of three material and media experts, which reached 4,7, or in the "valid" category. Practical criteria are obtained from the average practicality of all students in small and large classes, which reached 4,74 and 4,83, respectively, or in the "practical" category. Effective criteria are obtained from the results of students' concept understanding tests in small and large class trials of 100% and 88%, respectively, or in the "effective" category.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the mathematical concepts contained in the verse Q.S Al-Baqarah: 261 and design a learning design that integrates the mathematical values of this verse. Verse 261 of Surah Al-Baqarah describes a metaphor that connects the value of charity with growth and abundant results, which can be linked to mathematical concepts such as percentages, rows, and series of numbers. This research employs an interdisciplinary approach to explore how junior high school students can transform their understanding of mathematical concepts from the Al-Qur'an into a relevant and enjoyable learning experience. This type of research is qualitative research with a development studies type design research approach. The proposed learning design integrates existing moral values and mathematical concepts using Constructivism and socio-cultural learning. It is hoped that through this integrated learning, students can develop a deeper understanding of mathematics, especially percentages, ranks, and series, as well as increase their awareness of the importance of charity and social contributions. This research contributes to the development of learning that combines religious values with mathematics learning

Abstract

Population growth refers to the change in the number of people in a given area over a specific period, driven by factors such as birth rates, death rates, and migration. With an area of 31.68 km², Selong Subdistrict has a population with an average growth rate of 1.88% per year. According to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Lombok, the population growth in Selong Subdistrict is expected to continue increasing over time. This study will project the population growth in Selong Subdistrict using exponential and logistic models to predict the population size of Selong Subdistrict in 2026. The research approach used is qualitative, employing descriptive qualitative methods. The data for this study consists of population figures from 2010 to 2022, sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of East Lombok. To assess the accuracy and validity of the research data, source triangulation was used, which involves verifying information from various data sources such as archives, documents, and interviews. The results of this study show that both the exponential growth model and the logistic growth model have a high level of accuracy in estimating the population, with MAPE interpretations below 10%, indicating that both models are very accurate. Keywords: Exponential Model; Logistic Model; MAPE Pertumbuhan penduduk mengacu pada perubahan jumlah penduduk di suatu wilayah tertentu selama periode waktu tertentu, yang dipengaruhi oleh faktor-faktor seperti angka kelahiran, angka kematian, dan migrasi. Dengan luas wilayah 31,68 km², Kecamatan Selong memiliki tingkat pertumbuhan penduduk rata-rata sebesar 1,88% per tahun. Berdasarkan data dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Lombok Timur, pertumbuhan penduduk di Kecamatan Selong diperkirakan akan terus meningkat seiring waktu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memproyeksikan pertumbuhan penduduk di Kecamatan Selong menggunakan model eksponensial dan logistik guna memprediksi jumlah penduduk Kecamatan Selong pada tahun 2026. Pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan adalah kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah data jumlah penduduk dari tahun 2010 hingga 2022 yang diperoleh dari Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS) Lombok Timur. Untuk menilai akurasi dan validitas data penelitian, digunakan triangulasi sumber, yaitu memverifikasi informasi dari berbagai sumber data seperti arsip, dokumen, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa baik model pertumbuhan eksponensial maupun model pertumbuhan logistik memiliki tingkat akurasi yang tinggi dalam memperkirakan jumlah penduduk, dengan interpretasi MAPE di bawah 10%, yang menunjukkan bahwa kedua model tersebut sangat akurat. Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' perceptions of the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology in solving mathematical problems and creating scientific papers. The study uses a descriptive quantitative method with data collection through questionnaires and semi-structured interviews. The subjects of the study consist of 58 active students from the University of Mataram who have experience using AI technology in completing their coursework assignments. The results of this study show that: 1) the majority of students (89.6%) feel that AI technology is easy to use, 2) 75,9% have confidence in the accuracy of this technology, 3) 94,9% experience increased efficiency in completing coursework assignments, and 4) based on interviews, concerns were found regarding the potential dependency on AI (29.3%) and ethical issues in its use (24.1%). This study emphasizes that AI can be an effective tool in education if used wisely. Therefore, policies are needed to support the ethical and responsible use of AI to ensure that students continue to develop critical thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between number sense and mathematical problem-solving abilities among mathematics education students. Number sense refers to an individual's ability to understand basic mathematical concepts intuitively, while problem-solving ability involves applying mathematical knowledge to solve complex problems. This research employs a quantitative approach with a correlational design. Data were collected through number sense tests and mathematical problem-solving tests administered to Mathematics Education students at a university. The results indicate a significant positive correlation between number sense and mathematical problem-solving ability. This suggests that students with good number sense tend to be more effective in solving mathematical problems. This research is expected to contribute to the development of mathematics education curricula by emphasizing number sense as a foundation for enhancing students' problem-solving skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze students' errors in solving mathematical problems on the topic of linear equations and inequalities in one variable for eighth-grade students at SMPN 17 Mataram. The research approach used is qualitative descriptive, with the research subjects consisting of 15 students. Data was collected through written tests to identify the types of errors that frequently occur and the factors that cause them. The analysis results show that there are three main types of errors: (1) conceptual errors, (2) procedural errors, and (3) calculation errors. This study recommends using the discovery learning approach to improve students' understanding of the basic concepts of equations and inequalities. In addition, repeated practice and remedial learning should be provided to address procedural and calculation errors. These findings are expected to provide input for teachers in designing more effective teaching strategies. Based on the error analysis conducted, the percentage of errors made by students is as follows: conceptual errors 34% with a "Low" error rate; (2) procedural errors 45% with a "Moderate" error rate; (3) calculation errors 21% with a "Low" error rate. It can be concluded that students' understanding of calculations in the topic of linear equations and inequalities in one variable is still considered low. Teachers need to pay attention to interactive learning media strategies and provide gradual problem-solving exercises to improve students' understanding.

Abstract

Basic education plays a crucial role in shaping a competent generation ready to compete in the global era. However, the quality of basic education in Indonesia still faces challenges, particularly in students' literacy and numeracy skills. The Kampus Mengajar Program, as part of the Merdeka Belajar-Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) policy, aims to address these issues by involving university students as teaching partners in elementary schools, especially in remote areas.This program contributes to improving elementary students' literacy and numeracy skills. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data was collected through literature reviews and documentation related to the program's implementation at the University of Mataram. The findings indicate that the Kampus Mengajar Program has successfully increased literacy skills by 35% and numeracy skills by 33%. Additionally, the integration of technology in learning further enhances the program’s effectiveness, aligning it with modern educational developments. It is hoped that this success can serve as a reference for policymakers to expand and optimize the Kampus Mengajar Program across Indonesia.
