Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between the perceptions of class VIII students at SMPN 13 Mataram regarding mathematics and their learning persistence, partially with learning outcomes, and the influence of both simultaneously on learning outcomes. The type of research used is ex-post facto research with a quantitative approach. The research instruments used were perception questionnaires, study persistence questionnaires, and tests on SPLDV material. The research sampling technique used simple random sampling, using 30 class VIII students at SMPN 13 Mataram as samples. Before taking samples, a homogeneity test was carried out on the population, it was found that the population was homogeneous. The results of this study show that there is a relationship between perceptions and learning outcomes, but with a relatively low correlation. Likewise, between persistence and learning outcomes, there is a relationship with a correlation that is classified as very low. The correlation test results are 0.253 and 0.162, respectively. However, simultaneously, perceptions and learning outcomes have a significant influence on learning outcomes. This is shown by Fcount (3.682) > Ftable (3.35). The regression equation obtained is Ŷ = 0.8 + 0.6X1 + 0.1X2.

Abstract

The rainbow connection number, denoted by rc(G), is the minimum number of colors required to color the edges of a graph G such that the graph is rainbow connected. A graph G is said to be rainbow connected if every pair of vertices in the graph has at least one rainbow path, a path in which each edge has a different color. Rainbow coloring has been extensively studied on various types of graphs and their modifications, including line graphs. The line graph L(G) of a graph is a graph whose vertex set is V(L(G)) = E(G), meaning each vertex in represents an edge of . Two vertices in L(G) are adjacent if and only if their corresponding edges in G share a common vertex. This study examines the rainbow coloring of the line graph of the ilalang graph (Sn,r) for n = 3 and r>= 3. Based on the research findings, the rainbow connection number of the line graph of the ilalang graph is given by the theorem rc(L(S3,r)) = r for r>= 3.

Abstract

Queues are commonly encountered in various activities or operations, particularly when available services cannot meet the existing demand. This study aims to analyze the queue system for teller services at Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Gorontalo Branch. The research adopts a quantitative approach, applying the queuing method using the Multiple Channel-Single Phase model. Data analysis was conducted using the "POM-QM for Windows" software. The results indicate that with three tellers, the system’s utility factor reaches 73%, indicating that the tellers are operating very busy. A simulation was then conducted by increasing the number of tellers to four, which resulted in a lower utility value of 55% and a service effectiveness of 37%. This system is still considered efficient, ensuring optimal service performance.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the Student Worksheet (LKPD) learning media in increasing the mathematics learning interest of ninth-grade students at SMPN 3 Lingsar in the 2024/2025 academic year. The research employed a pre-experimental method with a one-group pretest-posttest design. A total of 20 students were selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument was a learning interest questionnaire administered before and after learning activities using LKPD. Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and paired t-test. The results showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. The paired t-test result indicated a p-value of 6.94 × 10⁻¹⁰ (< 0.05) with a t-value of 11.315. This finding demonstrates a significant difference between students' learning interest scores before and after using LKPD. Therefore, it can be concluded that the LKPD learning media is effective in increasing students’ interest in learning mathematics. This finding is expected to serve as a reference for teachers in selecting appropriate learning media to improve students' learning interest in the classroom.

Abstract

Misconceptions in solving linear programming problems remain a challenge in mathematics education. Conceptual errors made by students can lead to misunderstandings and suboptimal learning outcomes. This study aims to identify students' misconceptions in solving linear programming problems based on the Newman method and analyze them from a gender perspective. The research method used is qualitative descriptive, with research subjects consisting of high school students who have studied linear programming. Data were collected through a diagnostic test based on the Newman method and in-depth interviews. The Newman method was used to analyze students' errors in five stages: reading, comprehension, transformation, process skills, and writing the final answer. The results showed that misconceptions most frequently occurred in the transformation and process skills stages. Male students tended to make errors in process skills, while female students made more mistakes in the comprehension and transformation stages. The conclusion of this study indicates that gender influences students' misconception patterns in solving linear programming problems. These findings are expected to serve as a reference for educators in designing more effective teaching strategies to reduce misconceptions and improve students' understanding of linear programming.

Abstract

This study aims to identify elementary school students' understanding of mathematical concepts based on Neil D. Fleming's learning style theory (VARK), which consists of four main categories: Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic. A descriptive qualitative approach was used in this research, with the subjects being sixth-grade students of SDN 14 Cakranegara. The research instruments included learning style questionnaires, mathematical concept comprehension tests, and interviews. Data analysis was conducted in three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the majority of students had a kinesthetic learning style, indicating a preference for learning through physical activities and hands-on practice. Students with a kinesthetic learning style demonstrated a better understanding of mathematical concepts when learning methods involved physical activities. Additionally, several students exhibited a combination of visual, auditory, and read/write learning styles, reflecting variations in how they understand and apply mathematical concepts. Based on these findings, the study recommends that teachers implement varied teaching methods tailored to students' learning styles to enhance their understanding of mathematical concepts.

Abstract

The problem of this study was the low creative thinking ability of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 8 Metro Timur. This study was conducted to determine the influence of the Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) approach based on miniature house media on students’ mathematical creative thinking skills. The method used in this study was a quasi-experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study was 58 students, and the sample, consisting of the same number of students, was determined using purposive sampling. The hypothesis test was conducted using a simple linear regression analysis, which resulted in an Fcalculated value of 164.361 with n = 29. At a significance level of α = 0.05, the Ftable value was 4.21. Since Fcalculated > Ftable (164.361 > 4.21), and the significance value was 0.000 < 0.05, it was concluded that there was a significant influence of the RME approach based on miniature house media on the mathematical creative thinking ability of fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 8 Metro Timur.

Abstract

This research develops mathematics questions based on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) specifically designed to enhance students' higher-order thinking abilities through the context of waste problems. The purpose of this research is to develop HOTS-based mathematics questions within the context of waste issues. This study employs the Research and Development method using the ADDIE model (Analyze, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation). The development stage involves nine validators, consisting of subject matter experts, question experts, and media experts. The implementation stage involves 38 students divided into two groups. Validity, reliability, distinguishing power, and difficulty level of the mathematics questions are tested by having students work on the developed HOTS questions. The assessment of the practicality of the mathematics questions based on HOTS is conducted through student response questionnaires. The validation results from the nine validators indicate criteria of "Very Worthy to Use." The content validity tests are considered valid and reliable, resulting in difficulty levels and distinction powers that meet the criteria. The practicality trial of the mathematics questions based on HOTS with the context of waste issues received "very strong" criteria among the students. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the HOTS-based mathematics questions with the context of the waste problem as many as 20 questions are valid, practical, and suitable for use, because they have met the five requirements or characteristics of good questions, namely validity, reliability, objectivity, practicability and economy.
