Abstract

Mathematical communication, which involves the ability to express and understand mathematical ideas, is very important in learning. However, many conventional learning methods are less effective in improving these abilities. This study combines gamification-based flash card innovation with the TAPPS model to maximize social and cognitive interactions in mathematics learning, which is expected to have a positive impact on student engagement and understanding. This study aims to explore the application of gamification-based flash cards with the Think Aloud Pair Problem Solving (TAPPS) model to improve junior high school students' mathematical communication skills. The research method used is classroom action research with several cycles that include (Planning, implementation, observation and reflection). Based on the research that has been conducted in 2 cycles with the application of the TAPPS model assisted by gamification-based flash cards, with an average of 84.8% in the first cycle and 94.1% in the second cycle. So there is an increase in students' mathematical communication skills. Therefore, gamification-based flash cards can be used as a medium to improve students' mathematical communication.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning (PBL) terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pra-eksperimen jenis one group pre-test post-test design. Sampel penelitian adalah seluruh siswa kelas IV berjumlah 45 orang. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes pre-test dan post-test, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji Wilcoxon karena data tidak berdistribusi normal. Hasil analisis menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan hasil belajar siswa setelah diterapkan model PBL, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 < 0,05. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Problem Based Learning berpengaruh positif terhadap hasil belajar matematika siswa, terutama dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep pecahan.

Abstract

Mathematics is often considered a difficult and boring subject. However, with the right approach, mathematics can foster logical dan systematic thinking in problem-solving. This study aims to investigate: 1) the effect of RME approach on mathematical procedural fluency and student learning motivation, 2) the effect of RME approach on mathematical procedural fluency, 3) the effect of RME approach on student learning motivation. The method used was quasi-experiment with post-test only control group design. Research instruments included a written a test to measure procedural fluency, and a questionnaire to assess learning motivation. Data analysis techniques in this study used multivariate and univariate analysis with R software. The results showed that: 1) there is a significant difference simultaneously with Hotelling's T² test with p-value 0.02256 < 0.05, 2) there is a significant difference in procedural fluency with t-Independent test shows p-value 0.01019 < 0.05, 3) there is a significant difference in procedural fluency with Mann-Whitney test shows p-value 0.1249 > 0.05. These findings indicate that cognitive aspects and affective aspects have an attachment in achieving effective learning. Therefore, the RME approach can be considered an alternative learning strategy that teachers can use to develop residual mathematical abilities more optimally.

Abstract

As part of the community environment, the school faces challenges in managing the growing amount of plastic waste. Through a project of making paving blocks from plastic waste, this study aims to help students learn geometry by integrating the concept of surface area of 3D shapes into real-life practice. Students took part in the project by designing and creating hexagonal prism-shaped paving blocks to cover the archery extracurricular area, which often gets muddy during rainy days. This study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative approach. Interviews with students and teachers, project process documentation, and observation of learning activities were all methods used to collect data. The results show that the Design Thinking approach supported students in understanding surface area in a more practical way, especially in calculating the dimensions and quantity of paving blocks needed. The project also encouraged students to be more aware of environmental issues.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the extent to which math anxiety affects mathematical exploration skills in students. This study uses a quantitative approach with the an ex post facto method and involves 52 students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments consist of an essay test to measure mathematical exploratiom skills and a questionnaire to measure math anxiety. The data obtained were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS 25 for Windows Software. The analysis results showed that there wa a significant influence between math anxiety and mathematical exploration ability, with a coefficient of determination of 0,080. This means that math anxiety contributes 8% to mathematical exploration ability, while the remaining 92% is influenced by other factors outside the variables studied.

Abstract

Adversity Quotient (AQ) has an effect on improving the ability to understand mathematical concepts. In addition, with the AQ possessed by students, their mathematical concept understanding will be good. This study aims to review the literature related to the ability to understand concepts reviewed from AQ. The research method used is Systematic Literature Review. Data collection was carried out by reviewing articles that have research topics on the ability to understand concepts and AQ. Data collection comes from journals indexed by Sinta, ERIC and Google Scholar for the last 5 years. The articles obtained were 50 articles from national and international journals. From the search, a filtering process was carried out so that 20 articles were obtained that met the criteria. Then, the data collection was analyzed as research findings using qualitative and quantitative analysis. Based on the results and discussion, it was found that students who have high AQ tend to be more effective in facing challenges in learning mathematics and are able to overcome difficulties, especially by understanding the concepts to be able to solve mathematical problems.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual berbantuan media manipulatif lebih tinggi dibandingkan metode pembelajaran konvensional. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuantitatif dengan jenis kuasi eksperimen. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah kelas VIII MTs Muhammadiyah 3 Al-Furqan yang berjumlah 190 orang. Sampel penelitian terdiri dari kelas VIII E sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII D sebagai kelas kontrol. Penelitian dilaksanakan 4 kali pembelajaran serta pretest dan posttest. Adapun teknik analisis data yang digunakan dalam penelitian yaitu menggunakan uji N-Gain, uji normalitas, dan uji Mann-Whitney. Hasil analisis deskriptif pada kelas eksperimen rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 13,30, rata-rata nilai posttest sebesar 84,10, dan rata-rata nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,82, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol, rata-rata nilai pretest sebesar 21,63, rata-rata nilai posttest sebesar 69, dan rata-rata nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,62. Analisis inferensial pada uji normalitas diperoleh nilai significance pada kelas eksperimen sebesar 0,019, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol sebesar 0,088. Karena salah satu nilai significance < 0,05, maka data tidak berdistribusi normal. Berdasarkan Uji Mann-Whitney diperoleh sig (one tailed) sebesar 0,0005 < 0,05. Dengan demikian H1 diterima artinya peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa yang menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual berbantuan media manipulatif lebih tinggi dibandingkan metode pembelajaran konvensional.

Abstract

This research analyzes raw material inventory control at PT. Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk AMP Medan Area, considering warehouse capacity limitations and demand fluctuations. The study employs the Economic Order Quantity (EOQ) and Period Order Quantity (POQ) models to determine optimal order quantity, ordering frequency, and total inventory costs. Results show that both models yield substantial cost efficiencies compared to the company’s current policy. The total inventory cost using the EOQ model is Rp630,499,314.50, while the POQ model results in Rp626,289,722.53. In contrast, the company’s current approach incurs a total cost of Rp1,648,260,123.80. Consequently, EOQ and POQ generate savings of Rp1,017,760,809.30 and Rp1,021,970,401.27 respectively. These findings indicate that both models offer effective and economical solutions for inventory control. Additionally, they help avoid overstock and stockouts while adapting to production demands and limited storage space, thus optimizing procurement strategies.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the previous learning process, which tended to be delivered uniformly without considering the varying ability levels of students. This approach resulted in low overall learning achievement at the class level. The objective of this study is to improve the mathematics learning outcomes of Grade VIII A students at SMPN 1 Mataram through the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach, which is a learning strategy based on students’ ability levels. This research employs a Classroom Action Research (CAR) design, consisting of two cycles. Each cycle includes the stages of planning, implementation, observation, evaluation, and reflection. Data were collected through observation and learning outcome tests. The results of the study are as follows: (1) In the first cycle, the students' classical mastery reached 72.5%, with an average score of 73. These results did not meet the minimum success criterion for classical mastery, which is set at 85%. (2) In the second cycle, there was a significant improvement in learning outcomes, with classical mastery reaching 87.5% and an average score of 90. This indicates that the implementation of the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach can improve students' learning outcomes

Abstract

Kurangnya inovasi dalam penggunaan model dan media dalam pembelajaran matematika mengakibatkan rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas IV SD 7 Gondosari. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektivitas model PMRI berbantuan Media BEBDA dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SD. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SD 7 Gondosari subjek penelitian kelas IV dengan jumlah 32 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan dasain one group pretest and posttest. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen wawancara, observasi, dan tes. Teknik analisis data menggunakan uji normalitas, uji paired sample t-test, dan uji n-gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model PMRI berbantuan medi BEBDA cukup efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas IV SD 7 Gondosari, hal tersebut ditunjukkan pada hasil uji paired sample t-test diperoleh nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 (Sig. 2-tailed < 0,05) dan nilai n-gain dengan rata-rata skor yang diperoleh sebesar 0,6073. Jika dikategorikan berdasarkan klasifikasi interpretasi n-gain nilai tersebut berada pada kategori sedang, karena berada pada rentan 0,3 ≥ n-gain ≤0,7. Sementara itu, rata-rata persentase N-Gain sebesar 60,73% juga termasuk dalam kategori cukup efektif, karena berada dalam rentang 56%–75%. Kesimpulan penelitian ini bahwa penggunaan model PMRI berbantuan media BEBDA cukup efektif digunakan dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa kelas IV SD 7 Gondosari.
