Abstract

Obesity has emerged as one of the most significant global health concerns in recent decades, with its prevalence rising across different age groups and socioeconomic settings. Characterized by excessive accumulation of body fat, obesity disrupts metabolic regulation and substantially increases the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, liver disease, and various cancers. Recent evidence also highlights the rapid growth of obesity among children and adolescents, indicating long-term health consequences that may appear earlier in adulthood. This literature review examines the clinical aspects of obesity, including its definition, physiological mechanisms, and metabolic characteristics. It also explores the multifactorial risk factors associated with obesity, encompassing genetic predisposition, lifestyle patterns, socioeconomic conditions, and environmental influences. Furthermore, the review discusses the broad health impacts of obesity, ranging from metabolic and cardiovascular complications to psychological outcomes and intergenerational risks. The findings emphasize the need for comprehensive preventive and management strategies that integrate public health approaches, behavioral interventions, and supportive health policies to address the increasing burden of obesity at both individual and population levels.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and test the effect of bank health level using a risk approach (Risk-Based Bank Rating) consisting of liquidity risk, credit risk, good corporate governance (GCG), earnings, and capital on stock valuation as measured by price to book value (PBV) with macroeconomic factors such as inflation and interest rates as moderating variables and bank size and company growth as control variables in the banking sector listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange for the period 2015-2024. The population of this study consisted of 47 banking companies, with a purposive sampling technique obtained 38 companies as samples, while data analysis was carried out using Panel Data Regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) through Eviews 12 software. Interest rates negatively moderate or weaken the positive effect of capital adequacy on stock valuation, because investors consider that the capital owned by banks is vulnerable to pressure from macroeconomic factors. In this condition, investors will move funds to safer and more stable instruments, so that the valuation of banking stocks decreases. Therefore, in this study, interest rates negatively moderate (weaken) the positive influence of capital adequacy levels on stock valuations in the banking sector.

Abstract

The household toilet assistance program is one of the local government’s efforts to improve access to adequate sanitation in rural areas. In 2025, the Bengkalis Regency Government implemented a toilet assistance program in several villages, including Penebal Village. This study aims to evaluate the technical compliance of government-assisted toilets in Penebal Village with Indonesian National Standard (SNI) 2398:2017 and to formulate recommendations for septic tank redesign based on the applicable standard. The study employed a descriptive–evaluative method through field observations of the standardized toilet type constructed under the assistance program. Evaluation parameters included toilet floor and wall conditions, type of toilet fixture, air ventilation, septic tank dimensions and materials, gas ventilation system, wastewater infiltration system, and the distance between septic tanks and clean water sources. The observed conditions were then compared with the technical requirements stipulated in SNI 2398:2017 and related sanitation regulations. The results indicate that several components of the government-assisted toilets comply with the technical standards, such as the use of water-seal toilets, septic tank compartmentation, and watertight construction materials. However, non-compliance was identified in floor and wall impermeability, ventilation systems, septic tank dimensions, and the absence of standard-compliant wastewater infiltration systems. Based on these findings, improvements through a septic tank redesign in accordance with SNI 2398:2017 are recommended to ensure optimal and sustainable sanitation system performance.

Abstract

Strengthening creative digital literacy at the high school level is necessary so that students can design digital solutions relevant to user needs and possess basic UI/UX skills to build their portfolios and prepare for study and careers. This activity addressed these needs through a Figma workshop facilitated at Athirah Kajaolalido High School. The workshop used focus group discussions (FGDs) to map needs and design learning scenarios, followed by a two-day workshop. The first day consisted of design thinking and project design sessions. The second day focused on mentoring prototype creation in Figma. The activity resulted in 28 groups of 3–5 students each, producing ideas and prototypes on various themes (education, school services, productivity, the environment, and mental health). Pitching was assessed using eight indicators: problem analysis to solution, user flow, usability, visual aesthetics, design consistency, creativity, pitch structure, and engagement and delivery. The questionnaire results showed an average score of 4.46 for satisfaction with the material, usefulness of the material in helping solve problems, and ease of use of Figma, using a scale of 1–5. The Figma workshop effectively improved students' basic understanding of the digital solution design process and their ability to produce prototypes and present ideas. A follow-up program with longer practice sessions and material reinforcement is recommended to optimize prototype quality and pitching skills.

Abstract

The coastal waters of Parepare City exhibited pronounced water quality dynamics during the 2024–2025 period, as reflected by fluctuations in the spatially averaged Normalized Difference Chlorophyll Index (NDCI) values ranging from −0.07 to 0.21. This study aims to analyze the spatial and temporal variability of chlorophyll-a in the coastal waters of Parepare using Sentinel-2 imagery and to evaluate the relationship between NDCI and bio-optical parameter estimates derived from the Case-2 Regional CoastColour (C2RCC) algorithm. The analysis was conducted using Google Earth Engine for NDCI computation and extreme-condition selection, accompanied by data quality filtering based on water-body masking and cloud screening. Two extreme conditions were identified, namely the HIGHEST condition on 14 January 2024 (mean NDCI = 0.2126) and the LOWEST condition on 28 May 2025 (mean NDCI = −0.0719), which were subsequently analyzed using the C2RCC algorithm applied to Sentinel-2 Level-1C imagery through the SNAP software. The results indicate that the coastal waters of Parepare exhibit typical Case-2 water characteristics, in which spatial variability in chlorophyll-a is generally associated with changes in Total Suspended Matter (TSM) driven by terrestrial material inputs. Although NDCI is effective as a relative indicator of chlorophyll-a variability, the occurrence of anomalies in littoral zones caused by mixed pixels highlights the necessity of integrating spectral indices with C2RCC based bio-optical estimates for robust monitoring of optically complex coastal waters.

Abstract

Retrofitting is one method used to restore the capacity, ductility, and stiffness of reinforced concrete columns that have been damaged by lateral loads such as earthquakes. This study analyzes the crack patterns in reinforced concrete columns that have been retrofitted using wire mesh and self-compacting concrete (SCC) based on experimental data from three specimens: control column (KK), fully retrofitted column (KR-1), and column retrofitted in the plastic hinge region (KR-2). Loading was performed cyclically with displacement control following SNI 7834:2012. The results showed that retrofitting with wire mesh and SCC significantly modified the crack pattern, delayed the appearance of initial cracks, reduced the number of cracks, and limited crack propagation in the plastic hinge area. KR-1 and KR-2 showed more concentrated flexural crack patterns that were not as extensive as those in KK, and had better final deformation and post-elastic capacity. In conclusion, the installation of wire mesh and SCC, either fully or only at the plastic hinge, was effective in controlling crack patterns and improving column performance against lateral loads.

Abstract

Prescription assessment is a critical component of pharmaceutical services, ensuring patient safety, treatment effectiveness, and the appropriateness of drug therapy. This study analyzed the profile of compounded prescriptions for outpatients at the Pharmacy Installation of Pratama Regional Hospital, Nusantara Capital City, and evaluated their compliance with administrative, pharmaceutical, and clinical standards as outlined in the Indonesian Ministry of Health Regulation No. 72 of 2016 on Hospital Pharmaceutical Services. Using a descriptive, non-experimental retrospective approach, the findings revealed persistent inconsistencies across all aspects assessed. Between July and December 2024, administrative completeness was achieved only for patient name, prescription date, and physician’s address (100%), while pharmaceutical completeness for drug name, dosage form, and usage instructions also reached 100%; however, dosage and drug quantity remained inadequate. Clinically, dosage accuracy was 66.7%, with 21.5% overdoses, 5.5% exceeding the usual dose, and 6.3% underdosing. No duplication of drugs was identified, and no major drug interactions were observed, though moderate interactions occurred in certain combinations. These results underscore the need for strengthened supervision and prescriber education to improve adherence to pharmaceutical service standards, thereby enhancing patient safety and optimizing therapeutic outcomes.

Abstract

The Indonesian language plays a significant role in the country's cultural and national identity. Demonstrating pride in using Indonesian is one way to demonstrate respect for Indonesia's cultural heritage and linguistic diversity. It also reflects a sense of respect for national unity through language, which serves as a means of shared communication. Today, the millennial generation is increasingly familiar with social media and digital technology. This has impacted the evolution of the Indonesian language among young people, often incorporating slang and foreign language terms. The influence of foreign cultures through songs and films such as K-Pop and Korean dramas, as well as other foreign cultures, also contributes. This creates a stigma among them, where the use of foreign language in speech, such as saying "khamsahamida" (thank you) is more common than the actual expression "terima kasih" (thank you).

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a metabolic disorder characterized by elevated blood glucose levels due to absolute or relative insulin deficiency. The Sembung plant (Blumea balsamifera (L.) Dc) is a medicinal plant traditionally used to help lower blood glucose levels. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of sembung leaf fractions in reducing blood glucose levels in sucrose-induced mice. This research used a pre- and post-test control group design to compare blood glucose reduction between mice given a 4.2% concentration of Sembung leaf fractions and a positive control group treated with glibenclamide. The results showed that oral administration of Sembung leaf fractions at a 4.2% concentration reduced blood glucose levels at 120 minutes, with average results as follows: n-hexane fraction as 117.5 mg/dL, ethyl acetate fraction at 132.8 mg/dL, and water fraction at 113.5 mg/dL.The n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction, and water fraction of Sembung leaves were effective in reducing blood glucose levels in mice. Among them, the water fraction showed the greatest effect.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a multifactorial metabolic disease with a significant genetic contribution. Polygenic risk score (PRS) has been developed to integrate the cumulative effects of multiple genetic variants to improve T2DM risk prediction. This Systematic review aimed to evaluate the role of PRS in predicting T2DM incidence, disease progression, and related complications across different populations. This study was conducted in accordance with the PRISMA guidelines, with a literature search performed using the PubMed database and keywords related to PRS and T2DM. Included studies were observational in design and assessed the association between PRS and T2DM incidence or clinical outcomes. Three main studies with case-control, cross-sectional, and cohort designs were analyzed. The results demonstrated that PRS was significantly associated with increased T2DM risk, disease progression, and metabolic complications such as liver fibrosis, including in the context of organ transplantation. Integration of PRS with traditional clinical risk factors improved predictive performance. PRS has the potential to support precision-based T2DM risk stratification, although further cross-population validation is still required.
