Abstract

Kesamben Village, Ngajum District, Malang Regency faces serious problems in waste management that have an impact on the environment and public health. This community service program aims to introduce "Smart Trash Bin" technology as an innovative solution in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of waste management in the village. This technology uses automatic sensors that allow people to dispose of garbage without touching the trash can, making it more hygienic and comfortable. Early results show high enthusiasm from the public for this technology, which can be seen from active participation in socialization, training, and question and answer sessions. The application of this technology has also succeeded in improving environmental cleanliness and reducing health risks. However, some challenges such as high implementation costs and difficulties in technology adaptation still need to be overcome through adequate financial support and ongoing training. With collaboration between the government, local communities, and related parties, this program has great potential to become a model in the application of smart technology for sustainable waste management in other regions.

Abstract

The critical health of rural communities is due to the low understanding and awareness of the public about health checks on non-communicable diseases such as hypertension (high blood pressure) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM or High Blood Sugar). Based on preliminary studies and observations in Pulo Panjang Village, it shows that the high intensity of capture fisheries activities (livelihoods) in the community, has an indirect impact on the low level of public awareness of health checks, plus the limited time of medical personnel on duty at the Pulo Panjang Village Health Post (Poskesdes) which only ranges from 10.00 – 14.00 WIB (Monday – Friday). This community service aims to increase the level of public awareness of the importance of health checks (Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar) early so that the results of these examinations become a reference for the community to be able to implement a healthy lifestyle as an effort to prevent worse health impacts due to high blood pressure and blood sugar. The method of implementing community service "BAKTI Terdir" is carried out using 2 methods, namely counseling and early examination (Screening). The results of the KKM-PkM "BAKTI TERTITI" activity received very high appreciation from the community, shown by the enthusiasm of the participants who participated reached 120 participants and it is hoped that there will be additional programs for participants who are included in the category of further handling by providing obast for free.

Abstract

Stunting remains a major challenge in many rural areas of Indonesia, including in Pulo Panjang Village. This issue is not only about inhibited physical growth but also impacts the cognitive development of children, which can affect their future. Counseling on stunting is a crucial step in raising community awareness about the importance of early prevention. In this counseling, we focused on practical ways that families and communities can prevent stunting. The results of this program were very encouraging, with many participants showing an increased understanding of stunting and a commitment to changing their lifestyles. This effort demonstrates that with the right knowledge, communities can become more proactive in safeguarding the health of future generations. This counseling is expected to be the starting point for a larger change in Pulo Panjang village
