Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe students' mathematical critical thinking abilities as seen from their learning interest. The approach used is a qualitative approach with descriptive research type. This research was conducted in February 2024 at SMP Negeri 13 Tanjungpinang. The research subjects consisted of 1 student from each learning interest category so that the number of subjects was 5 students. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires, tests and interviews. The instruments needed in this research are researchers and are supported by learning interest questionnaires, mathematical critical thinking ability tests and interview guidelines. The data will be analyzed using data collection and conclusion stages in accordance with the Miles and Huberman analysis technique. The data obtained shows that mathematical critical thinking skills with a very high learning interest category are able to fulfill 4 indicators of mathematical critical thinking. then the mathematical critical thinking ability with the high learning interest category is able to fulfill the 4 categories of mathematical critical thinking but is still not complete and precise. Furthermore, critical thinking skills in the moderate learning interest category were only able to fulfill 2 categories while the other 2 categories were not fulfilled. Mathematical critical thinking ability in the learning interest category is only able to fulfill 1 indicator out of 4 indicators of critical thinking ability. And mathematical critical thinking abilities in the very low learning interest category only fulfill 1 of the 4 indicators of mathematical critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

The use of learning media is still limited, making students tend to be more passive during the learning process. At SMA Negeri 1 Suwawa, the learning process predominantly uses textbooks, whiteboards, LKPD, and sometimes PowerPoint. These limitations make it difficult for students to understand the material, including mathematics lessons on the material of the System of Linear Equations of Three Variables (SPLTV) which requires image visualization. With the existing problems, research was conducted by utilizing technology which aims to develop mathematics learning media using the Sparkol VideoScribe application on SPLTV material which was carried out involving 20 class X students at SMA Negeri 1 Suwawa in June. This type of research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method using the four-D development model, namely Define, Design, Develop and Disseminate. Data analysis was carried out based on expert assessments, teachers, and student responses using a Likert scale. The development assessment was carried out based on the results of three media validators as well as learning materials and obtained validation results of 77% for media and 82% for materials with criteria worth using. The results of teacher and student responses obtained an average total percentage of 98% and 85% respectively which indicates that the media used meets practical criteria. For further research, it can develop learning media that attract more students' attention in learning activities and increase the activeness of students in learning activities, especially math lessons on SPLTV material.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the active learning learning model using the MIKiR method in improving collaboration skills and to find out how much students' collaboration skills have increased in mathematics learning in class VII of SMP Negeri 1 Bintan. The method used in this research is a quasi-experiment type experiment. The research instruments used were a collaboration skills questionnaire and observation sheet. The collaboration skills questionnaire contained aspects of commitment, respect for others, deliberation and participation.  Data collection techniques with the experimental class which will receive treatment using active learning learning with the MIKiR method and the control class which will use conventional learning. The data analysis technique uses a non-parametric statistical test, namely the Wilcoxon test. Next, to test the increase, an n-gain test was carried out. The results of this research show that active learning using the MIKiR method is effective in improving students' collaboration skills with a greater average N-gain value for the experimental class, namely 0.48 and an average N-gain for the control class, namely 0.11.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' mathematical problem-solving abilities through the implementation of the AIR learning model with the RME approach on the topic of flat sided geometric material in Grade VIII at SMP Negeri 45 Batam. This research is a quasi-experimental type of research, with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample was selected using probability sampling with a cluster random sampling method, so that two sample classes were obtained, VIII C as the experimental class and VIII F as the control class. The test instrument in the form of essay questions to measure students' mathematical problem solving abilities on flat-sided geometric material was used to collect research data. The research results showed that the average improvement in mathematical problem-solving abilities for the experimental class was 0.42, while for the control class it was 0.31. From the Independent t-test of N-Gain, the Sig. value was 0.044, it can be concluded that the average mathematical problem solving ability of students through the application of the AIR learning model with the RME approach is higher than the average mathematical problem solving ability of students using conventional learning models.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan LKPD dengan Pendekatan PMRI Pada Materi Persamaan Lingkaran Kelas XI SMKN 1 Lubuklinggau sesuai dengan kurikulum 2013 yang Valid, praktis dan memiliki efek potensial. Metode penelitian pengembangan ini menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis-Design-Develop-Implement-Evaluate). Penelitian dilakukan di SMKN 1 Lubuklinggau dengan populasi dan sampel penelitian adalah peserta didik kelas XI dengan jumlah 36. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan wawancara, angket dan tes. Hasil dari analisis data melalui kevalidan ahli bahasa dengan nilai 0,92 dengan kategori sangat valid, ahli media dengan nilai 0,87 dengan kategori sangat valid dan ahli materi dengan nilai 0,8 dengan kategori valid. Analisis kepraktisan guru mendapat nilai 91,6% sedangkan analisis kepraktisan peserta didik mendapat nilai 98,6% dengan kategori sangat praktis dan memiliki efek potensial 91,6% dengan kategori sangat baik. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa LKPD Dengan Pendektan PMRI Pada Materi Persamaan Lingkaran Kelas XI SMKN 1 Lubuklinggau telah memenuhi kriteri Valid, Praktis dan memiliki efek potensial.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate whether students' mathematical problem solving skills can improve when using the problem-based learning (PBL) model with the help of Geogebra software on circle equation material. The research method uses quasi-experiment or quasi-experiment which in its implementation uses two research subjects, namely the experimental group class and the control group class. The research population was class XI students of SMK N 7 Semarang. The samples used were 2 classes, namely class XI KGS 1 (experimental group) and class XI TME 1 (control group). The data collection method was carried out using test instruments and non-test instruments. Pretest and posttest assessments were used to collect data. Based on the findings of the Mann Whitney and Wilcoxon tests which display a sig value of 0.000 < 0.05 when using SPSS. If Ha is accepted and Ho is rejected. So the results of the Wilcoxon test and Mann Whitney test can be concluded that the PBL teaching approach has an impact on several students of SMK N 7 Semarang class XI in their mathematical problem solving abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze students' statistical reasoning processes in group data presentation material in terms of students' self-confidence. This research is a type of research, namely descriptive qualitative. Because this research will describe students' statistical reasoning processes in group data presentation material in terms of students' self-confidence. The subjects of this research were 29 students of class XII MIPA 4 SMA Negeri 4 Tanjungpinang who were then narrowed down to 2 students representing each self-confidence categori, namely high self-confidence, medium self-confidence, and low self-confidence. The results of this research were that there were 5 students who had high self-confidence, 20 students who had moderate self-confidence, and 4 students who had low self-confidence. Students who have high self-confidence and moderate self-confidence meet all indicators of statistical reasoning, while students who have low self-confidence do not meet all indicators of statistical reasoning.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the improvement of student’s mathematics learning outcomes by implementhing the Guided Discovery Learning learning model on trigonometric material in grade X of SMKS (Vocational High School) Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Randangan, academic year 2023/2024. The data in this study was collected through teacher activity observation sheet, student activity observation sheet (given to 20 student), and learning outcome test. The research indicators were: the results of observation of teacher activities in managing learning activities reached at least 75%, the result of observation of student activities in receiving learning activities reached the “Active” criterion with a minimum of 75%, the result of the assessment of mathematics learning outcomes were at least 75%, and all students reached the minimum completeness criterion (75). Based on the analysis, applying the Guided Discovery Learning learning model to trigonometric material could improve students’ mathematics learning outcomes in two cycles after learning improvements were made from cycles I to II. this was marked by the escalation result of 1) observation of teacher activities in managing learning (cycle I 55,98%, and cycle II 97,06%), 2) observation of student activities during the learning process (cycle I 40%, and cycle II 93,3%), and 3) yhe average of student mathematics learning outcome (12 student or 60% in cycle I, and 18 student or 90% students completed in cycle II).

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of Discovery Learning model assisted by HOTS-based LKPD on students' critical thinking skills. The type of research used is Quasi Experiment Design. The research was conducted at SMP Negeri 7 Lubuklinggau with the research population was class VIII. The research sample was class VIII.5 as the experimental class and class VIII.6 as the control class. The sampling technique used Probability Sampling with Cluester Random Sample. Data analysis includes normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis testing. In this study, Chi Kuadrat was used to test the normality of data, F (Fisher) test for data homogeneity test, and pseudo t-test for hypothesis testing. The results of testing the hypothesis of the final ability of students show that  , namely 3.977>1.701 then Ho is rejected which means that the average score of critical thinking skills of experimental class students is greater than the control class (. So it can be concluded that there is an effect of the Discovery Learning model assisted by HOTS-based LKPD on students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

Understanding the concept of whole number operations, especially addition and subtraction, is an important basis in mathematics that must be mastered by students. However, many students still experience difficulties in understanding the material, especially in more complex operations. This study aims to analyze students' concept understanding ability on whole number operation material by applying the demonstration method. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, involving 26 students of class VII.A at Srijaya Negara Junior High School Palembang as research subjects. Data was collected through written tests consisting of five description questions and interviews to explore students' understanding more deeply. The results showed that 47.62% of students scored in the high category, 14.28% in the medium category, and 38.09% in the low category, with an average score of 59.05 which indicates understanding in the medium category. The application of the demonstration method, in which students actively participated by walking on the marked tiles, proved to increase students' enthusiasm and provide a more memorable learning experience. Nonetheless, the proportion of students in the low category indicates the need for more attention in the learning process. This study concludes that the demonstration method is effective in improving concept understanding, but needs to be balanced with additional approaches to support students who have difficulty in understanding integer operation material.
