Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the extent of the utilization of village fund allocation to develop small and medium industries in Kalukubula village, Sigi Biromaru Sub-District. Method/approach: This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out through observations, interviews, and documentation. The informants included village government officials and small-to medium-sized industry actors who received village fund support. This study applies Richard M. Steers' (1985) theory of Effectiveness, focusing on three indicators: goal achievement, adaptation, and integration. Results/findings: The results obtained by the author in this research show that the effective utilization of village funds enhances small and medium enterprises through support for business capital and equipment in Kalukubula Village, based on three indicators of effectiveness: achievement of goals, where support from village funds not only successfully increases community income but also creates business independence; adaptation by providing training facilities and offering assistance in infrastructure that meets the needs of entrepreneurs; and integration, where the Kalukubula Village Government has conducted socialization regarding the use of village funds. Conclusion: The allocation of village funds in Kalukubula Village has proven to be fairly effective in supporting the development of small and medium industries based on Steers' three organizational effectiveness indicators. Limitations: This research was limited by time and was only conducted in one village as a case study. Contribution: This study provides recommendations to the village government to maximize the use of village funds for the development of small and medium industries to improve the village economy.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the income and feasibility of the refill drinking water depot industry in Tambarana Village, Poso Pesisir Utara District. The objective is to assess business viability, both theoretically and economically. Methodology/approach: A quantitative descriptive approach was used to collect primary data from business owners through interviews and field observations. Financial analysis was performed using the revenue-cost (R/C) ratio to determine business feasibility. Results/findings: The results indicate that the total monthly income from the refill drinking water depot industry in Tambarana Village reaches Rp. 10,578,728 or an average of Rp. 2,115,745 per business unit. The R/C ratio obtained was 1.68, which implies that the business is feasible to operate, as the ratio exceeds 1. This means that the revenue earned is greater than the total costs incurred. Conclusion: Based on the R/C ratio, the industry is considered theoretically feasible. However, in practical economic terms, the income generated is only sufficient to meet the basic daily needs of the entrepreneurs and has not yet reached a level that allows for business development or its expansion. Limitations: This study focused solely on a single village and did not compare similar businesses in other regions, which may limit the generalizability of the findings. Contribution: This study provides insight into the financial viability of small-scale water refill businesses in rural areas and can serve as a reference for local governments or stakeholders aiming to support microenterprises through training, capital assistance, or marketing  strategies.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the influence of product quality, service quality, and store atmosphere on customer satisfaction, with purchase intention as a mediating variable at Season Coffee in Kasongan. This study is motivated by the increasing competition in the coffee shop industry, where customer satisfaction is shaped by the quality of products, service delivery, and store ambiance. Methodology/Approach: A quantitative approach with an associative method was used. Data were collected using questionnaires distributed to 100 active customers of Season Coffee. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) using Partial Least Squares (PLS) with SmartPLS 3.0 was used for data analysis. Results/Findings: The findings indicate that product quality, service quality, and store atmosphere each have a positive and significant effect on purchase intention. Moreover, purchase intention significantly influenced customer satisfaction and mediated the relationship between the three independent variables and customer satisfaction. Conclusions: The results suggest that enhancing product quality, improving service performance, and optimizing store ambiance can effectively increase customers’ purchase intentions, which, in turn, improves overall customer satisfaction. Therefore, coffee shop businesses should focus on these key elements to strengthen customer loyalty and competitive advantage. Limitations: This study is limited to a specific demographic in Kasongan and may not fully represent the broader customer base of the Seasons Coffee. Contribution: This study contributes to the development of consumer behavior models in Indonesia’s coffee shop industry and provides empirical support for the mediating role of purchase intention between service attributes and customer satisfaction.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to understand the impact of modern retail, particularly Alfamidi and Indomaret, on income levels and the sustainability of traditional retail businesses in Parigi District, Parigi Moutong Regency. It focuses on how traditional retailers are affected and how they respond to competition. Methodology/approach: This research uses a descriptive qualitative approach and is conducted in the Parigi District. Data were collected through purposive sampling using observations, in-depth interviews with traditional business owners, and documentation. The data were analyzed using thematic techniques, such as data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. Results/findings: The findings reveal that the emergence of modern minimarkets has intensified competition, resulting in a decline in customers and income for traditional retailers. Consumer shopping preferences have shifted due to competitive prices, wider product selection, and better facilities offered by minimarkets. Nevertheless, some traditional retailers have started to adapt by innovating their product offerings and improving their service qualit. Conclusion: The presence of minimarkets in the Parigi District presents both challenges and opportunities. While many traditional businesses experience reduced income, others attempt to survive by adjusting to market demands through innovation and differentiation. Limitations: This study did not include quantitative measurements of income decline or behavior change, limiting the precision of its economic impact analysis. Contribution: This research provides important insights for local policymakers to design fair competition strategies and support traditional micro and small businesses to ensure a balanced and sustainable retail ecosyste.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze guest review sentiments of Fourteen Roses Boutique Hotel Kuta on the Booking.com platform, to identify aspects of hotel services that require improvement and can inform strategies to increase room occupancy rates. Methodology/approach: A quantitative approach is used, with data collected via web scraping from Booking.com. The review texts undergo preprocessing for cleaning and structuring, followed by sentiment classification using the Naïve Bayes algorithm and TF-IDF for feature extraction. Python is used for analysis, and the results are visualized using word clouds and sentiment distribution charts. Results/findings: The analysis reveals that 49.0% of the reviews express positive sentiment, highlighting appreciation for staff service, room comfort, facilities, and hotel location. Meanwhile, 21.0% show negative sentiment, mainly concerning breakfast quality, noise at night, and bathroom conditions. Additionally, 14.3% of the reviews are neutral, often using terms like “standard,” “ok,” or “normal,” indicating weakly held opinions. Despite data imbalance, the Naïve Bayes model achieved an accuracy of 78%. Conclutions: Overall guest perceptions are positive, but negative and neutral feedback still requires attention. The sentiment analysis results and word cloud visualizations serve as useful references for identifying areas needing service improvements to enhance occupancy rates. Limitations: The study focuses solely on Booking.com data. Future research should incorporate multiple platforms and explore more advanced classification techniques to better handle data imbalance. Contribution: This study provides insights into guest sentiment that can help hotel management design more targeted strategies to remain competitive in the hospitality industry.

Abstract

Purpose: Competition in Bali’s hospitality industry is intensifying due to the growing number of star-rated hotels and available room capacity. This trend is driven by globalization, digital advancements, and changing consumer demands for service quality. This study aims to analyze domestic tourists’ preferences through sentiment analysis of online reviews to help optimize room occupancy rates. Methodology/approach: Using a text mining approach with the Naïve Bayes algorithm, this study analyzes 429 Tripadvisor reviews of The St. Regis Bali Resort. Data was collected via web scraping using Python, covering reviews from the past five years to reflect current guest preferences. Results/findings: The results show that 80.19% of the reviews express positive sentiment, indicating high satisfaction with service quality, staff professionalism, room comfort, and a strong brand image. The Naïve Bayes classifier achieved an accuracy of 83.72%, performing well in identifying positive sentiment, though less effective for neutral and negative reviews due to class imbalance. Conclusion: Sentiment analysis using Naïve Bayes effectively captures positive guest sentiment, though further refinement is needed for neutral and negative classifications. These insights support more precise service improvements and marketing strategies to boost loyalty and occupancy. Limitations: This study is limited to Tripadvisor reviews of a single luxury hotel in Bali, which may affect the generalizability of the findings. Contribution: The study highlights the strategic value of guest reviews in informing hotel decision-making, helping to tailor services and promotions to meet domestic tourists’ preferences more effectively.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aimed to analyze guest sentiment from reviews on Booking.com to identify insights that may help reduce room reservation cancellations. Methodology/approach: A quantitative approach was used, with data collected through web scraping using Python from customer reviews on the Booking. com website. A total of 433 reviews were analyzed using the Naïve Bayes classification method for sentiment analysis. Results/findings: The analysis revealed that 362 reviews (83.6%) contained positive sentiments, indicating high guest satisfaction, particularly with staff service, room quality, and facilities such as the pool and breakfast. Meanwhile, 71 reviews (16.4%) expressed negative sentiments, mainly focusing on room quality and overall hotel experience. The Naïve Bayes model achieved a classification accuracy of 91%, with a high F1-score of 95% for positive sentiments but only 31% for negative sentiments, highlighting data imbalance. Based on these findings, hotel management is advised to pay more attention to key aspects such as “staff,” “room,” “pool,” and “breakfast” to enhance guest satisfaction and minimize reservation cancellations. Conclusion: Most reviews reflected positive sentiments, indicating a high level of satisfaction. However, negative reviews, although fewer, must be further evaluated to improve service quality, especially given the classification model’s lower performance on negative sentiments. Limitations: This study is limited to Booking.com reviews for The Westin Resort & Spa Ubud, based on 433 entries. Contribution: This study provides a sentiment analysis approach to help hotel management better understand customer feedback and develop strategies to reduce cancellation rates.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of employer branding in improving employee retention at PT XYZ, a multinational nickel mining company in Indonesia. It also seeks to identify practical strategies to address persistent turnover challenges in the extractive industry. Methodology/approach: The research uses a qualitative approach through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with five employees from both managerial and operational levels. Thematic analysis was conducted manually on the FGD transcripts. The analysis is supported by a literature review integrating Social Exchange Theory, Resource-Based View (RBV), and Psychological Contract Theory to frame the findings. Results/findings: The study identifies five core employer branding practices that significantly influence retention: (1) competitive compensation and risk allowances, (2) flexible work arrangements (e.g., Work from Home), (3) competency development programs, (4) transformational leadership, and (5) ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) integration. Major challenges include unclear compensation structures, heavy workloads, and lack of transparency in career development pathways. Conclusions: Employer branding strategies tailored to local culture and industry needs significantly enhance employee retention at PT XYZ. Although the study is specific to Indonesia’s nickel mining sector, the findings offer transferable insights for HRM practices in other extractive industries within developing economies. Limitations: The findings are context-specific and derived from a small sample. The qualitative design limits the ability to establish statistical relationships between variables. Contribution: This study contributes to HRM theory by proposing an integrated employer branding model and provides mining companies with actionable strategies to align global HR practices with local expectations, especially in resource-driven sectors.

Abstract

Purpose: This study provides recent empirical evidence on the effect of capital structure debt level, liquidity, and solvency on the profitability of Indonesian technology companies during 2019-2023. Methodology/approach: A quantitative case study was conducted using panel data from financial reports of IT and online service companies listed on the IDX (2019–2023). Financial ratios (DAR, CR, DER, ROA) were analyzed using EViews 12 with purposive sampling and panel data regression. Results: The study found no significant simultaneous effect of DAR, CR, and DER on ROE. Partially, liquidity had a significant positive effect, solvency has a significant impact, though it indicated a potential positive relationship if managed properly. The finding indicate that although debt level, liquidity, and solvency do not have a simultaneous significant impact on profitability, liquidity and solvency individually play a key role in influencing financial performance. This highlights the importance of maintaining strong liquidity and managing solvency effectively in the technology sector. Conclusion: Partially, only the Current Ratio (CR) has a significant positive effect on ROA, while DAR and DER are not significant. However, simultaneously the three variables have a significant effect with a contribution of 16.53%, emphasizing the importance of liquidity management in improving the profitability of technology companies. Limitations: The study is limited by sample size, lack of moderating variables, exclusion of other influencing factors, and a single method quantitative approach. Contribution: The study serves as a reference for company management in financial planning, for investors in conducting analysis, and for academics as a basis for future research exploring new variables, periods, sectors, or methods.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the influence of Discount Live Streaming and Bundling Products on Impulse Buying through Positive Emotion as an intervening variable among TikTok Shop users in Indonesia. Methodology/approach: This was a causal research design. The collected data were analyzed using the SEM-PLS method through the SmartPLS4 application, with a total of 280 respondents. Results: Discount live streaming has a positive and significant effect on positive emotions. Product bundling also has a positive and significant effect on positive emotions. Both discount live streaming and product bundling have a direct effect on impulse buying; however, this effect becomes stronger when mediated by positive emotions. Conclusions: All hypotheses proposed in this study were accepted, indicating that positive emotions play an important role in strengthening the influence of discount live streaming and product bundling on impulse buying. Limitations: This study was limited to respondents aged 17–40 years and predominantly from the Kalimantan region. It did not consider other variables, such as urgency perception, social proof, or trust. Contributions: This study develops and tests a conceptual model that integrates digital sales promotion factors (discounts and bundling) with psychological aspects (positive emotions) to explain impulsive buying behavior.
