Abstract

Introduction: Anemia experienced by pregnant women will hurt the baby, namely the risk of premature birth, low birth weight, and an increased risk of perinatal death. This study aims to determine the relationship between family support and the behavior of pregnant women in efforts to prevent anemia. Methods: This study used analytical research with a cross-sectional approach, the population in this study was all pregnant women in Madiun. This study used purposive sampling techniques. The sample used in this study was 112 respondents. To find out the relationship between variables in this study, the Chi-Square statistical test was used with the result that if the p-value is 0.05, it means that there is a significant relationship between the two variables. Results: The results of the study using the Chi-Square correlation test showed that the Fischer Exact Test value was 0.001. Because the Chi-Square test value is 0.001 < 0.005, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between family support and the behavior of pregnant women in efforts to prevent anemia. Conclusions: Families are expected to always provide motivation, help, and accompany pregnant women so that pregnant women feel safe, comfortable, and calm.

Abstract

Introduction: Stroke is the number one cause of disability and the number three cause of death in the world. The burden caused by stroke is mainly caused by disability (a public health problem) which also creates a high cost burden for the sufferer, their family, society, and the government. Methods: The type of research in this research is a case study using quantitative descriptive design methods. This research was conducted in the working area of "‹"‹the Candi, Urang Agung, and Prambon Community Health Centers which are Community Health Centers in the Sidoarjo Regency Health Service Area. This research uses primary data and secondary data as sources of research data. Data samples were taken from 100 respondents at 9 Integrated Development Posts for Non-Communicable Diseases (IDP NCD) at the Prambon Health Center, Urangagung Health Center, and Candi Health Center, Sidoarjo Regency. Results: The research showed that the high-risk factors for stroke were hypertension in the high category at 41%, random blood sugar in the high category at 49%, cholesterol in the high category at 52%, and BMI in the high category at 40%. Conclusions: Based on the research results, the highest risk factors for stroke are cholesterol, random blood sugar, hypertension, and BMI which indicates obesity. The results of the analysis of stroke risk factors are still high, so it is necessary to optimize advocacy and integrated partnerships in stroke prevention and control through promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative activities in an integrated and sustainable manner.

Abstract

Introduction: The spread of infectious diseases occurs when disease-causing agents, such as bacteria, viruses, or germs move and infect from one person to another. Teenage is a phase that is very vulnerable to contracting infectious diseases because it is at a stage of physical development, emotional changes, and increased social relationships. One practical way to prevent infectious diseases is to kill disease-causing agents by washing hands. However, its use is often replaced with a more realistic hand sanitizer. For this reason, this research will compare the efficacy of hand sanitizers and hand washing specifically among teenage populations. Methods: This research is a literature study that uses secondary data from publications published in 2007-2024 and is relevant to the topic of discussion. Of the 16,800 articles according to keywords, 8 articles were found that met the criteria for further discussion. Results: The results of the eight journals selected according to the requirements showed that 3 journals stated that using hand sanitizer was more effective than washing hands. Meanwhile, 5 other journals stated that washing hands was more effective than hand sanitizer. Because, there are still remaining germs, bacteria, and viruses stuck to the hands. Moreover, hand sanitizers are not able to clean the deepest layers of the skin, and long-term use also makes the skin dry and irritated because hand sanitizers contain quite high amounts of alcohol. Conclusions: For this reason, teenagers are expected to prioritize washing their hands with soap and running water rather than using hand sanitizer.

Abstract

Introduction: A high Body Mass Index (BMI) is known to be associated with mortality and morbidity in the elderly. However, other studies also show the opposite results regarding high BMI as a protector against Activity Daily Living (ADL). Accurate quantification of the role of BMI in the incidence of disability in ADL. Given the increasing prevalence of overweight and obese individuals and the long life spans in the population. This study aims to determine the relationship between Body Mass Index and Daily Life Activities in population-based elderly people. Methods: The method used in this research is a cross-sectional observational study conducted on 167 respondents from rural areas in the Lamongan Regency, using a consecutive sampling approach. BMI scores and the Barthel Index were recorded among respondents. Data were analyzed using the Spearman Test with a significance level of p<0.05. Results: A total of 167 respondents came from rural areas in Lamongan Regency, dominated by 96 (57.5%) women and 71 (42.5%) men. The Spearman Test results found a weak and significant positive correlation between body weight and daily activities (r= 0.167; p<0.05). Apart from that, a significant weak positive correlation was also found between BMI and ADL (r= 0.157; p<0.05). Conclusions: The results of the study show that increasing the BMI value has a protective effect on ADL, so it can be concluded that higher body weight and BMI are associated with increasing Barthel ADL scores.
