Abstract

Proper pressure gauge management is crucial in maintaining tire performance and extending tire lifespan, as incorrect tire pressure—especially underinflation—can significantly shorten service life and lead to tire blowouts. In industrial and mining operations, where tire replacement costs are high, effective monitoring of tire pressure using well-maintained gauges becomes an essential aspect of preventive maintenance. This study aims to evaluate and implement an effective pressure gauge management system to ensure accurate tire pressure monitoring and reduce equipment damage due to improper maintenance. The method used in this study involved direct observation and data collection on gauge usage, routine calibration schedules, and the cleaning process of gauges across several operational units. Regular calibration and proper cleaning techniques were introduced to improve tool reliability and minimize the risk of inaccurate readings caused by dust accumulation. The results showed that after the implementation of systematic gauge management, the company achieved cost savings of approximately IDR 30,120,000, representing a significant 15% improvement in maintenance efficiency through reduced tool replacement and scrap rates. The implications of this research highlight that structured gauge management programs not only enhance safety and operational reliability but also provide a sustainable model for industrial maintenance systems, particularly in sectors with high equipment utilization such as mining, transportation, and heavy manufacturing.

Abstract

The transition of nomenclature and procedures from Building Permits (IMB) to Building Approvals (PBG) requires an adequate level of public understanding for policies to run effectively. In Aceh Besar Regency, the alleged low understanding has implications for permit compliance and potential legal and safety problems. This study aims to identify the level of understanding of the people of Aceh Besar Regency towards PBG. This study uses a quantitative method through the distribution of questionnaires of 100 building owners who do not have PBG, using proportionate stratified random sampling and purposive sampling techniques. The instrument used 7 indicators of comprehension measured using the Guttman scale and analyzed descriptively quantitatively. The results showed that the majority of respondents were not aware of changes in nomenclature, the obligation to manage PBG, the management mechanism through the Building Management Information System (SIMBG), the function of PBG, how to manage, where to manage, and the validity period with a mean variable level of understanding of 0.187 (category: not knowing). The practical implications of this study are that the findings show the urgent need for targeted socialization, simplification of public communication, and technical assistance programs for building owners to increase their understanding and compliance with PBG.

Abstract

This research investigates the integration of English language instruction into Nigerian vocational artisan training programs to enhance communicative competence, professional performance, and economic inclusion among tradespeople. Grounded in English for Specific Purposes (ESP) theory and workplace literacy frameworks, the study employed a mixed-methods research design, combining structured surveys with semi-structured interviews. A total of 63 artisans across five trades—carpentry, tailoring, welding, automotive repair, and electrical installation—participated in the study conducted in Kogi State, Nigeria. Quantitative findings revealed critically low English proficiency levels, with only 12.4% of respondents demonstrating high proficiency in reading technical documents and 10.0% in writing estimates and invoices. Communication-related challenges occurred frequently in workplace contexts, with misunderstanding client requests (M = 3.31) and inability to interpret safety instructions (M = 3.25) emerging as the most prevalent issues. Qualitative data identified specific trade-based English needs, including reading technical manuals, writing job quotations, using digital marketing platforms, and understanding safety regulations. Based on these findings, the study proposes a Trade-Specific English Curriculum (TSEC) framework designed to integrate task-based language instruction with authentic workplace demands through five interconnected components: Needs Analysis, Task-Based Modules, Authentic Materials, Collaborative Learning, and Performance-Based Assessment. The study concludes that language integration within vocational programs represents both a pedagogical and economic imperative, with implications for workforce competitiveness, occupational safety, and formal economic participation. The proposed framework offers a replicable model for vocational education reform aligned with Nigeria’s sustainable development objectives.

Abstract

Notaries, as public officials authorized to draft authentic deeds, hold an important position within the Indonesian legal system. However, in practice, notaries often encounter legal issues arising from the execution of their duties, whether in criminal, civil, or professional ethical contexts. This paper aims to analyze the regulation of legal protection for notaries in performing official duties to ensure legal certainty and justice and to propose normative reconstruction ideas aligned with the principles of legal certainty and justice. The research method employed is a normative approach, utilizing analyses of laws and regulations, legal doctrines, and case studies. The findings indicate that the Regulation of Legal Protection for Notaries in Performing Official Duties to Ensure Legal Certainty and Justice under Law Number 2 of 2014, amending Law Number 30 of 2004 concerning the Notary Position, remains partial and fails to provide comprehensive protection. Policy reconstruction is therefore necessary by strengthening legal protection norms that encompass aspects of office accountability, equitable supervision mechanisms, and limitations on law enforcement intervention. Consequently, enhanced legal protection for notaries will better guarantee legal certainty and justice for all parties and the wider community.

Abstract

Chronic Limb Threatening Ischemia (CLTI) represents the most severe stage of peripheral arterial disease, often compounded by comorbid type 2 diabetes mellitus (DMT2), which exacerbates wound healing impairment and increases amputation risk. The Wound, Ischemia, and foot Infection (WIFI) score offers a structured approach to assess limb severity and guide clinical decision-making. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the clinical significance of the WIFI score in predicting disease progression and major amputation risk among CLTI patients with DMT2 Methods: A retrospective cohort analysis was conducted on patients diagnosed with CLTI and DMT2. Clinical outcomes—including mortality and major amputation—were correlated with WIFI staging using Cox regression analysis. Results: Higher initial WIFI scores were significantly associated with increased rates of major amputation (41.7%) and mortality (29.2%) in the high-risk group, compared to 0% in the low-risk group. Patients who underwent angioplasty showed a mean reduction of 2.8 points in WIFI score, correlating with improved outcomes. Cox regression revealed that each 1-point increase in WIFI score was associated with a 1.9-fold increase in amputation risk and a 2.1-fold increase in mortality. Conclusion: The WIFI score is a clinically meaningful tool for predicting outcomes and guiding management in CLTI patients with DMT2. Its integration into routine vascular assessment enhances risk stratification, supports revascularization decisions, and may reduce unnecessary amputations—especially in resource-limited settings.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the countries that has ratified the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), which serves as the main international instrument regulating trade in endangered animals and plants. As a consequence of this ratification, Indonesia is legally obligated to harmonize its domestic legal framework—currently embodied in Law Number 32 of 2024 concerning Amendments to Law Number 5 of 1990 on the Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and Their Ecosystems—with the principles of animal protection outlined under CITES. This article examines the implementation of CITES in Indonesia, particularly in the context of protected wildlife trafficking cases. It aims to identify the challenges faced in law enforcement and to propose policy recommendations that could strengthen national efforts in biodiversity protection. The research employs literature review, regulatory analysis, and case study methods to provide a comprehensive understanding of how CITES obligations are operationalized within Indonesia’s legal and institutional framework. Findings reveal that, despite the existence of an adequate legal foundation, operational barriers, weak inter-agency coordination, limited forensic capacity, and socio-economic pressures have undermined the overall effectiveness of CITES implementation. Therefore, this study recommends enhancing law enforcement capacity, regulatory harmonization, international collaboration, and public education campaigns to achieve more effective biodiversity conservation outcomes.

Abstract

The enactment of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code (National Criminal Code) affects the duties and functions of the Prosecutor's Office as a law enforcer, which has tended to be formalistic and procedural, thus encouraging this institution to place more emphasis on fulfilling the principles of justice, the effectiveness of law enforcement, and the protection of victims' rights, while strengthening its strategic role in the prevention and prosecution of criminal acts in accordance with the new norms in the Criminal Code. However, the recognition of the National Criminal Code regarding the existence of living law in society other than written law creates tension between legal certainty and substantive justice (social justice). Prosecutors face a dilemma when an act that is recognized as criminal under customary law is not written in the law, thus creating legal uncertainty in the practice of prosecution. The result of this study is the principle of formal legality Article 1 paragraph (1) of the National Criminal Code which is linear with the view of the school of legalism emphasizes that every act can only be punished based on written law, ensuring legal certainty and protection of human rights. The enactment of Article 2 of the National Criminal Code, the principle of legality has expanded its meaning, which in its regulation recognizes the laws that live in society (living law) and social values, customary norms, and substantive justice in the sense of the principle of material legality. The real implementation can be seen in the innovation of the Bali High Prosecutor's Office through Bale Kertha Adhyaksa Jaga Desa and Umah Restorative Justice, which integrates positive law and customary law of Tri Hita Karana. The Prosecutor's Office now plays an adaptive, humanist, and fair role, guarding social harmony as well as legal certainty.

Abstract

The Sultan Hasanuddin Training Ship of PIP Makassar was selected as the research object for this study. The study aims to analyze the stability of the ship by focusing on calculating the metacentric height (GM) value based on the moment of static stability, incorporating both manual methods and computer applications that generate GM values as indicators of seaworthiness according to the Intact Stability Code. The research method used in this study is a case study that involves descriptive, numerical, and comparative analysis of various ship parameters, including the length, width, and inside the ship, as well as other measurements required in the stability calculation. The GM calculation is carried out using the static stability moment approach and compared with the results of recording the ship's rolling period. The results show that the GM value generated from the calculation of the existing static stability moments, if deducted from the total value of the Virtual Loss of GM due to the inertia moment in the slack tanks, will produce an effective GM worth that is used as the basis for the ship stability benchmark. This research could contribute significantly to improving safety protocols and design standards in maritime operations. The benefits of this research include providing theoretical information for lecturers and cadets of PIP and commercial shipping officers, enriching teaching materials on ship construction and stability, and promoting a safety culture by offering practical information to estimate ship stability conditions before more detailed calculations are made.
