Abstract

This study intends to examine the viability, practicability, and efficacy of the lift-the-flap book as a trigonometry learning tool for high school students. This study uses the ADDIE approach for research and development (R&D). In this study, the population consisted of X grade students from SMA Negeri 1 Kupang, and the sample consisted of 31 XC grade kids. Data collection approaches employing questionnaires and assessments. Analyses of data's validity, applicability, and efficacy are data analysis methodologies. The findings of research on mathematics learning media lift-the-flap books for high school trigonometric comparative materials. The findings of material expert testing were 91.7% with a very good category, while the results of media expert testing were 94.6% with a very valid category. Based on the findings of the teacher's reaction with an average percentage value of 92% in the very good category and the average student response of 87.74%, the media is deemed practical. After passing the learning outcome test with an average score of 87.1% based on extremely good criteria, the media is utilized effectively in the learning process. Therefore, it can be concluded that the produced lift-the-flap book learning media can be applied to the study of mathematics trigonometric comparison material.

Abstract

The world of education must be able to adjust to new typical conditions, such that some schools use online learning, blended learning, and face-to-face instruction. Currently, the transition period from pandemic to new normal is known as the period of adjusting government policies and the management capabilities of each school, so that in the transition of this condition in the world of education, it is necessary to change learning procedures, including the original learning media. Internet is a technological innovation that can be utilized to facilitate distance learning. The internet facilitates human communication, information access, and entertainment. YouTube, which is a social media network but also has advantages as a learning medium, is one of the most popular platforms. The objective of this research is to investigate and assess the current application of YouTube as a learning medium in the new normal era. The research technique employs a literature review of YouTube's implementation and usage as a learning medium in order to create an analysis of YouTube's implementation and use from the perspectives of educators and students at varying levels of education in order to facilitate learning.

Abstract

The paper discusses aspects of various activities to improve students’ vocabulary and skills, especially speaking habits. There is a need to encourage activities that help make learning English interesting. Songs are one of the activities that help students be active in class. The benefit of singing and reciting poetry is that the whole class can participate. Therefore, teachers can use these activities in the classroom to teach vocabulary. The goal is to help students understand new vocabulary and increase their awareness of using words in sentence structure and their grammatical patterns and combinations. The authors will also discuss how songs can reflect culture and increase students’ overall enjoyment of learning a second language. Using practical examples, we then use songs as language tasks. The goal is to explore how classic nursery rhymes can be adapted to a specific topic or part of the curriculum that a teacher wants to teach.

Abstract

This study aimed to discover students' perception of how English songs improve their listening skills. Also, this study wanted to investigate whether there is significant difference on students’ perception of how English songs improve their listening skills based on gender. The methods used in this research was descriptive and comparative. The instrument used in this study was a questionnaire adapted from Ngoc (2021). This research was conducted to the eleventh-grade students enrolled in the first semester of the 2022/2023 academic year at a private high school in North Minahasa. The results were: (1) the students agreed on the reasons and principles of using English songs in improving their listening skills; (2) they also agreed that English songs were a good learning resource to help them improve their listening skills (3); students also agreed that English songs play an important role in learning listening; (4) however, there was no significant difference on students' perception of how English songs improve their listening skills based on gender. Thus, this research recommended that (a) using English songs in class should be an option for teachers in teaching, especially in teaching English; (b) also, further research needs to be conducted to see other factors that can significantly affect students’ listening skills.

This research is motivated by the low mathematical communication skills of students at school which causes students to be less involved in learning or students are rarely given the opportunity to ask questions or express opinions so that students' mathematical communication skills have not been able to be conveyed. This study uses the Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Education (PMRI) approach to see the differences between PMRI learning and conventional learning models for increasing mathematical communication skills in terms of student gender. The type of experiment used in this research is Quasi Experiment Design using pretest and posttest. The population of this study were students of class VIII Al Sudais Indonesia Foundation. The sample used was 2 classes selected by cluster random sampling technique, namely 1 class as an experimental class with the PMRI approach and 1 class as a control class with conventional learning. The data collection technique used is a test. Analysis of the data used is the normalize gain test, two-way ANOVA test, t-test, and Kruskal-Wallis test. The findings of this study are: a) the mathematical communication ability of students between those who take mathematics learning with the PMRI approach is higher than students who take conventional learning, b) the mathematical communication ability of male and female students between those who take mathematics learning with the PMRI approach is not. there are differences with students who follow conventional learning, and c) there is no interaction between the learning approach and gender differences in increasing mathematical communication skills
