Abstract

The existence of Chinese ethnicity in Banyuwangi is estimated since the 17th century, the existence of Chinese in Blambangan has certainly experienced an interesting dynamic process to be revealed, especially how the history of the existence and change of ethnic Chinese identity itself, from Aseng who incidentally is a foreigner to Osing who is a native of Banyuwangi . A certain society always presents stereotyped views. Likewise with Chinese identity in Banyuwangi. Referring to the view of cultural studies, identity is entirely a socio-cultural construction. No identity can emerge outside of cultural representation or acculturation. The dynamics of social change in the cultural dimension refers to cultural changes in society such as contact with other cultures which causes cultural diffusion and borrowing. This identity change phenomenon can be seen in the Chinese ethnic identity in Banyuwangi Regency. The history of the Chinese ethnic in Banyuwangi as a whole has experienced ups and downs caused by the conditions of Indonesian domestic and foreign socio-political culture, placing the Chinese ethnic in an uncertain position, and tending to become victims of Indonesia's social and political situation which is always turbulent. This then causes the ethnic Chinese to always be faced with difficult conditions that affect their existence as an ethnic group. As Chinese people in Banyuwangi, they generally admit to being confused about choosing whether to retain their distinctive Chinese (hereditary) characteristics, or have to completely abandon everything they received from their ancestors and completely merge into the majority society. This paper aims to discuss how the emergence of the history of ethnic Chinese in Banyuwangi Regency, formerly known as Blambangan, and how the dynamics of the development of social change for ethnic Chinese in Banyuwangi.

Abstract

This research is a study to analyze the protection of children in schools and the protection of teacher professionalism, especially to maintain a balance between protecting children's human rights in schools with the implementation of teacher professionalism which also needs to be protected in educating children. The specification or type of research in this study is descriptive in nature, using normative juridical research methods through several approaches: the statutory approach and the conceptual approach. The results showed that based on data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) in the first semester of January to July 2022, 12 cases were recorded, consisting of 3 cases occurring in schools in areas under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Culture with a percentage of 25%. Meanwhile, cases in the education unit under the auspices of the Indonesian Ministry of Religion were 9 cases or 75%. Based on education level, 2 (16.67%) cases of violence occurred at the Elementary School (SD) level. Middle school level was 1 (8.33%) case. Islamic boarding schools 5 (41.67%) cases. Madrasas are places of recitation/place of worship in 3 (25%) cases, and 1 (8.33%) place for music courses for kindergarten and elementary school aged children. The age range of the victims was between 5-17 years. Victims numbered 52 children with details of 16 (31%) boys and 36 (69%) girls. While the perpetrators totaled 15 people consisting of: 12 teachers (80%), 1 (6.67%) owner of the boarding school, 1 (6.67%) child of the owner of the boarding school, and 1 (6.67%) senior of the victim. On the other hand, violence against teachers is still common, for example, in August 2016 there was a beating of a father and son against a teacher at a well-known school in Makassar. This case felt very strange because according to the news, the child, who incidentally was a student of the battered teacher, also took the opportunity to throw punches at the time his father was "crazy" at school. In early February 2018, it was also reported that Achmad Budi Cahyanto, a teacher at SMAN 1 Torjun, Sampang, Madura, died after being beaten by a student named HZF. Therefore, the existence of Law no. 35 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law no. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection, is intended to prevent arbitrary actions against Indonesian children, as well as Law no. 14 of 2005 concerning Teachers and Lecturers,

Errors on the price tag with the price list on the payment counter machine often occur at the Indomaret Matang Glumpangdua Minimarket, where the price listed and when paying for the difference is due to inaccurate administration, with price changes that occur too often following instructions from PT. Indomarco Prismatama will hereby cause a price difference.

That this study was designed to determine high school students' metacognitive awareness about academic reading strategy. Thus, through the Reading Strategy Survey, Global students' metacognitive awareness, Problem Solving and the reading support strategies used in academic reading are investigated. The results show that the participants usually use academic reading strategies so they are often aware of these strategies. They mostly use and realize problem solving strategies but supporting strategies are least used in academic reading. This study uses a survey in data collection. To achieve the goal, 104 questionnaires were administered to all participants. Researchers use the average as a measure to determine the level of use category for each category of reading strategy. The survey questionnaire developed by Mokhtari and Sheorey (2002) is called Survey of Reading Strategies (SORS). The reading strategy here is based on the SORS questionnaire, namely global reading strategies, problem solving strategies, and supporting strategies. This study found that students' use of reading strategies was high with students' preference for problem solving strategies. Suggestions are made for English teachers who can help them to improve student learning better, such as for students to know about how to apply the reading strategies they use well, and also for future researchers who have similarities with this research.
