Abstract

Introduction: Daily activities at Port X generate domestic wastewater containing total coliform and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) levels exceeding the environmental quality standards. Elevated concentrations of these parameters pose a risk of waterbody pollution and can lead to gastrointestinal diseases in nearby communities. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the effect of calcium hypochlorite (kaporit) treatment on the reduction of total coliform and TSS in domestic wastewater at Port X, Batam City, in 2024. Method: A true experimental research method was employed, using a pretest-posttest control group design. Samples were treated with varying doses of calcium hypochlorite, followed by laboratory analysis to measure changes in coliform and TSS concentrations. Primary data were analyzed using paired t-tests with a significance level of p < 0.05. Result and Discussion: The results indicate that calcium hypochlorite treatment significantly reduces both total coliform counts and TSS levels. The most effective treatment was achieved with a dosage of 2 g/L of calcium hypochlorite combined with 4 hours of aeration, resulting in reduction efficiencies of 82.71% for total coliform and 85.16% for TSS. Conclusion: It can be concluded that calcium hypochlorite is effective in reducing pollutant loads in domestic wastewater, demonstrating its potential as an efficient and affordable solution for wastewater treatment in port areas.

Abstract

Introduction: Perineal rupture during childbirth is a common cause of postpartum hemorrhage, especially among primiparous women. Pushing position during the second stage of labor may influence the likelihood of perineal injury. Objective: This study aimed to determine the relationship between pushing positions and the incidence of perineal rupture among primiparous women. Method: This analytical observational study involved 32 primiparous mothers who gave birth at independent midwifery practices (PMB) in the Ujung Berung region during December 2024. Data were collected using observation checklists and analyzed using Chi-square tests. Result and Discussion: The findings showed that among mothers who used the semi-sitting position, 68.4% had an intact perineum, while 53.2% of those who used the lithotomy position experienced a first-degree perineal rupture. The statistical analysis revealed a significant relationship between pushing position and the incidence of perineal rupture (p = 0.013). Conclusions: Pushing position during labor is significantly associated with the incidence of perineal rupture in primiparous women. The semi-sitting position is associated with a lower risk of perineal injury compared to the lithotomy position. Promoting optimal birthing positions could reduce maternal trauma during delivery.

Abstract

The government has established a Smoke-Free Area through Law No. 36 of 2009 concerning Health regulating the Smoke-Free Area), which is clarified by PP No. 109 of 2012. However, the implementation of KTR has not been effective, this is indicated by the continued occurrence of violations such as smoking and selling cigarettes in prohibited areas without strict sanctions. The purpose of this study was to determine the implementation of KTR policy. The research method used was a qualitative type with a case study approach involving 12 informants from OPD in Merangin Regency. The results of this study are that the Implementation of KTR is still not optimal. Policy socialization is carried out through communication media, but there has been no special training. Supervision and eval_uation are not in accordance with Regional Regulation, there are no special human resources, facilities and funds are limited, and individual awareness is still low. OPD show commitment through appeals, but there are no incentives from the Health Office. The bureaucratic structure is not yet supportive due to the absence of SOPs and special organizational structures in each OPD. It is recommended that local governments conduct training, allocate special funds and prepare SOP and supervisory teams.

Abstract

Antenatal Care (ANC) constitutes a professional health service provided by healthcare workers such as obstetricians, general practitioners, midwives, and nurses, aimed at maintaining maternal and fetal health. Although the K1 coverage rate achieved an increase to 97.7% in 2022 compared to 2020, the K4 coverage rate showed a decline to 90.94% (Ministry of Health, 2022). Adequate knowledge among pregnant women regarding ANC is crucial for ensuring regular antenatal visits, ideally conducted at least six times throughout the pregnancy (Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, 2020). This study aims to examine the relationship between pregnant women’s knowledge and the frequency of ANC visits at the Majalaya Health Center. Employing a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design, data were collected from 53 pregnant women. The findings revealed that 41.5% of respondents had limited knowledge, and 58.5% reported irregular ANC visits. Statistical analysis using the Chi-Square test yielded a p-value of 0.001 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant association between knowledge levels and ANC visit regularity. These results emphasize the importance of enhancing educational interventions to improve ANC attendance among pregnant women
