Abstract

Anxiety among primigravida women is a serious concern that can affect maternal mental health, prolong labor, intensify pain, and trigger obstetric complications. Non-pharmacological interventions such as Smarter Hypnobirthing offer an integrative approach that combines relaxation techniques, positive affirmations, education, and family support. This study aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of Smarter Hypnobirthing in reducing anxiety levels among primigravida pregnant and postpartum women in Samarinda, Indonesia. A quasi-experimental design with a pre-post test and control group was employed. A total of 40 participants were equally assigned to the intervention group (n=20) and the control group (n=20). The intervention group received the Smarter Hypnobirthing program, while the control group received only basic midwifery counseling. Anxiety levels were measured before and after the intervention using standardized instruments. The intervention group demonstrated a significant reduction in anxiety scores (Δ = -8.15; p < 0.001), whereas the control group showed only a minor and non-significant decrease (Δ = -1.15; p = 0.082). Posttest comparisons between groups revealed a meaningful difference (14.20 vs. 20.75; p < 0.001). Smarter Hypnobirthing effectively reduces anxiety among primigravida pregnant and postpartum women. This approach has the potential to serve as an innovative, non-pharmacological intervention that promotes maternal well-being, aligning with the global agenda of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Abstract

Stunting is a chronic disorder caused by malnutrition that inhibits growth and development in toddlers. One factor influencing the success of exclusive breastfeeding is knowledge about how to optimize a child's growth and development, particularly during the toddler years, which requires preparation on the part of both mothers and health workers. This study aims to determine the relationship between mothers' knowledge and the incidence of stunting in children aged 2-5 years at the District Health Center. This study uses a descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. Data collection tools use a questionnaire on mothers' knowledge about stunting. The sample in this study consisted of 52 respondents. The sample was determined using the Slovin formula. The statistical test used was the chi-square test, which showed that 52 mothers had a basic education level, namely 9 (17.3%); 24 (46.2%) had a secondary education level; and 19 (36.5%) had a higher education level. The frequency distribution of knowledge among the 52 mothers showed that most had satisfactory knowledge about stunting, totaling 36 (69.2%), sufficient knowledge in 16 (30.8%), and insufficient knowledge in 0%. This shows that of the 52 toddlers with stunting, most were in the short category (21 or 40.4%) and normal category (31 or 59.6%). The data collection results show that out of 52 respondents, most children were in the normal category (31 or 59.6%), short category (21 or 40.4%), and very short category (0%). The results of the data analysis test on the relationship between mothers' knowledge and stunting in toddlers aged 2-5 years old at the district health center showed that mothers with good knowledge had 11 (14.1%) short toddlers and 25 (20.9%) normal toddlers, while mothers with adequate knowledge had 10 (6.9%) short toddlers and 6 (10.1%) normal toddlers. This study obtained a significant value of (P-value=0.030), with a sig value of (0.030)< 0.05, meaning that there is a significant correlation or relationship between the level of maternal knowledge and the incidence of stunting in toddlers aged 2-5 years at the District Health Center.

Abstract

Needlestick injuries are one of the most common occupational accidents among healthcare workers and carry the risk of transmitting bloodborne diseases such as HIV, HBV, and HCV. The reporting rate of these incidents remains low, influenced by various factors including individual characteristics such as education level and age. To determine the relationship between education level and age with compliance in reporting needlestick injury incidents among healthcare workers at Hospital X. This study used an observational analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 70 healthcare workers who had experienced or were at risk of experiencing needlestick injuries, selected based on inclusion criteria. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi-Square test with a significance level of p < 0.05. The majority of respondents held a bachelor's degree (57.1%) and were aged 20–29 years (61.4%). The highest reporting compliance was found in the bachelor's degree group (90%) and the 20–29 age group (81.4%). Chi-Square test results showed a significant relationship between education level and reporting compliance (p = 0.042) and between age and reporting compliance (p = 0.031). The main reason for not reporting was the perception of low infection risk (55.7%). Education level and age are significantly related to compliance in reporting needlestick injuries. Interventions to improve compliance should focus on continuous education, ease of reporting procedures, and strengthening the culture of occupational safety.

Abstract

This case study investigates the effectiveness of corset use as a non-pharmacological intervention in reducing pain among postpartum mothers following Cesarean Section (CS) in the Acacia Ward of Eka Hospital Bekasi. The patient initially experienced moderate-to-severe pain (scale 4–7), which progressively decreased to scale 2 within three days after corset application. In addition to the reduction in pain scores, the patient reported improved comfort, enhanced early mobilization, and decreased dependence on pharmacological analgesics. The corset provided compression and support to the incision area, stabilized abdominal muscles, reduced edema, and offered psychological reassurance, all contributing to decreased pain perception. These findings are consistent with existing literature highlighting the role of abdominal support devices as adjuvant therapy in post-CS pain management. This study suggests that corset use is a safe, practical, and effective intervention to complement pharmacological analgesia and improve patient recovery outcomes. Further research with larger samples and more rigorous study designs is recommended to strengthen the evidence base.

Abstract

This study targeted non-service BPJS patients for several reasons. First, it targeted BPJS patients based on the potential for service improvement. BPJS patients reported lower satisfaction than non-BPJS patients. This will provide valuable input for hospital management and other hospitals to improve overall service quality. Second, it targeted non-service patients because there has been no research examining the quality of healthcare services in this group. Service quality, consisting of tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, was overall considered very satisfying by patients. The results of the service importance assessment, consisting of tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy, were overall considered very important by patients. A comparison between reality and expectations yielded an average gap score across all assessment aspects, such as tangibles, responsiveness, reliability, empathy, and assurance.

Abstract

Nurses are the frontline of healthcare services and are highly vulnerable to work-related stress due to complex tasks and heavy responsibilities. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between work tenure and marital status with job stress among nurses in the inpatient ward of Hospital X in Kotamobagu. A quantitative study with a cross-sectional design and correlational analysis was conducted. The population consisted of 272 nurses, from which 73 respondents were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire covering three main variables: work tenure, marital status, and job stress. Univariate analysis was used to describe frequency distributions, and bivariate analysis using the Chi-Square test was applied to examine associations between independent and dependent variables. The findings showed that work tenure (p = 0.000) and marital status (p = 0.004) were significantly associated with nurses’ job stress. Nurses with longer work tenure (≥3 years) and those who were married were more likely to experience job stress. Emotional support, a healthy work environment, and adequate rest are essential to effectively manage job stress among nurses.
