Abstract

Reading proficiency is a crucial foundation for literacy among elementary school students. However, some students in lower grades still struggle to comprehend simple texts due to limited reading skills and low learning motivation. The "Complete the Sentence" instructional medium offers an alternative approach that actively engages students in reading comprehension. This study employed a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental, non-equivalent control group design. The sample consisted of 30 students in the experimental group and 23 students in the control group at UPTD SDN 16 Bireuen. Reading proficiency data were collected via an 18-item multiple-choice test, while learning motivation was measured using a 15-statement, four-point Likert scale questionnaire. Data analysis involved the Paired Samples t-Test, Mann-Whitney U test, One-Sample t-Test, and Multivariate Analysis of Variance (MANOVA). The results indicate that the "Complete the Sentence" medium had a significant impact on students' reading proficiency, evidenced by an increase in the mean score from 57.83 to 83.50 and an N-Gain score of 0.60 (moderate-to-high category). Student learning motivation also improved, reaching an average of 79.9% (high category). MANOVA results showed a Wilks' Lambda value of 0.247 and an ?² of 0.753. The "Complete the Sentence" medium effectively enhanced both reading proficiency and learning motivation among third-grade students at UPTD SDN 16 Bireuen—both individually and simultaneously—making it a viable instructional alternative to support literacy and motivation in elementary education.

Abstract

Poor study discipline among students remains a significant educational concern that may negatively affect academic achievement. This study aims to examine the effects of social media usage intensity, self-management, and peer environment on students’ study discipline. A quantitative approach using an ex post facto research design was employed. The participants were 150 students from State Senior High School No. 7 Kupang, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire with a four-point Likert scale and analysed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. The findings indicate that social media usage intensity has a significant negative effect on students’ study discipline, whereas self-management has a significant positive effect. In contrast, peer environment shows a significant negative effect on study discipline. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly influence students’ study discipline (F = 57.640, p < 0.001). The coefficient of determination (R² = 0.542) indicates that 54.2% of the variance in students’ study discipline is explained by social media usage intensity, self-management, and peer environment. In comparison, the remaining 45.8% is influenced by other factors outside the model. These findings support the application of Social Cognitive Theory by highlighting the interaction between personal and environmental factors in shaping students’ study discipline. The study suggests that strengthening self-management, promoting responsible social media use, and fostering supportive peer environments may help improve students’ study discipline.

Abstract

The transformation of 21st-century education demands instruction that is responsive to learners' diverse characteristics. The *Kurikulum Merdeka* (Independent Curriculum) encourages the implementation of diagnostic assessments and differentiated instruction to accommodate students' diverse learning needs. However, the implementation of these approaches in primary schools still faces various challenges and has not been carried out optimally or systematically, including in the Aceh region. This study aims to analyze the relationships among learning styles, learning motivation, and cognitive diagnostic assessment results in primary school students. This quantitative study, employing a correlational design, involved 30 fourth-grade students from UPTD SD Negeri 4 Simpang Mamplam, Bireuen Regency. Research instruments included the Visual, Auditory, and Kinesthetic (VAK) learning style questionnaire, a learning motivation questionnaire, and a cognitive diagnostic test. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the Kruskal–Wallis test, and Spearman correlation. The learning style profile showed a predominance of the Visual style (46.7%), followed by Auditory (30.0%) and Kinesthetic (23.3%). Students' learning motivation fell into the High and Very High categories, with an average achievement of 86.3% of the maximum score. There was a significant difference in learning motivation across learning style groups (H = 8.214; p = 0.016), with the Visual group exhibiting the highest motivation. Furthermore, significant positive correlations were found between learning style and learning motivation (r? = 0.706; p < 0.001), between cognitive diagnostic assessment and learning motivation (r? = 0.589; p = 0.001), and between learning style and diagnostic assessment results (r? = 0.418; p = 0.021). The diversity of learning styles and their link to learning motivation underscore the importance of conducting diagnostic assessments as a foundation for designing differentiated instruction that can optimally accommodate students' learning needs.

Abstract

Low teacher performance in preparing instructional materials and conducting innovative lessons is the primary issue at SMP Negeri 1 Baitussalam, Aceh Besar Regency; the average pre-cycle performance score was only 57.69 (classified as "poor"), a finding corroborated by low scores on the 2024 Teacher Competency Test. This study aimed to analyse the implementation of *Lesson Study*-based academic supervision in enhancing teacher performance across the aspects of lesson planning, implementation, and evaluation. Conducted from January to April 2026, this School Action Research involved five teachers—specialising in Science, Mathematics, and English—who had previously scored below the "good" category; the study employed the Kemmis and Taggart cyclical model integrated with the "plan-do-see" stages. Data were collected through observation and documentation and analysed using descriptive percentage techniques. The results demonstrated significant improvements across all aspects. The ability to prepare lesson plans or teaching modules rose from 57.69 to 72.71 in Cycle I and reached 88.13 in Cycle II. Instructional implementation skills improved from 72.50 to 89.11, while evaluation skills rose from 71.25 to 89.43; both metrics reached the "good" category. Notably, the greatest improvement occurred in the evaluation aspect, indicating that the collective reflection inherent in *Lesson Study* is effective in rectifying areas that were previously the weakest. The study concludes that *Lesson Study*-based academic supervision effectively enhances teacher performance and serves as a relevant model for continuous professional development.

Abstract

Education is a strategic instrument in nation-building that relies heavily on teacher quality. Teacher work motivation is a crucial factor in fostering high-quality learning, particularly during the implementation of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum). This study aims to analyse the direct and indirect effects of a school principal's transformational leadership on teacher work motivation, mediated by growth mindset and professional growth. A quantitative approach utilising path analysis was employed. The study population consisted of 271 public high school teachers in the downstream region of Kapuas Regency, with a sample of 162 respondents selected via simple random sampling. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire—validated for reliability and validity—and subsequently analysed using linear regression, path analysis, and the Sobel test. The results indicate that transformational leadership, growth mindset, professional growth, and teacher work motivation all fall within the high category. Transformational leadership exerts a positive and significant influence on work motivation, growth mindset, and professional growth. Furthermore, growth mindset and professional growth positively and significantly influence teacher work motivation and mediate the impact of transformational leadership on that motivation. Professional growth emerged as the factor contributing most significantly to teacher work motivation. These findings underscore that strengthening transformational leadership—supported by the continuous development of a growth mindset and professional growth—can serve as a vital strategy for enhancing teacher work motivation, especially in secondary schools located in non-urban areas.

Abstract

Teacher performance is a crucial factor in improving the quality of education. This study aims to examine the influence of the work environment, work discipline, and work motivation on teacher performance at State Islamic Elementary Schools (Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri/MIN) in Bireuen Regency. A quantitative approach employing a survey method was applied in this research. The population consisted of 143 teachers from six MIN schools in Bireuen Regency. A sample of 105 respondents was determined using the Slovin formula with a 5% margin of error. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS. Partially, the work environment had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (Sig. = 0.013). Work discipline also had a positive and significant effect (t = 6.258; Sig. = 0.000) and was identified as the most dominant variable. Likewise, work motivation had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (t = 5.176; Sig. = 0.000). Simultaneously, the three independent variables had a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (F = 45.648; Sig. = 0.000), with a coefficient of determination (R²) of 0.576, indicating that 57.6% of the variation in teacher performance was explained by the model, while the remaining 42.4% was influenced by other factors not examined in this study. The findings indicate that the work environment, work discipline, and work motivation play significant roles in enhancing the performance of MIN teachers in Bireuen Regency. Therefore, school administrators and policymakers should improve the quality of the work environment, strengthen work discipline, and enhance teachers' work motivation to support better teacher performance and improve the overall quality of education.

Abstract

Clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS) are a crucial aspect that needs to be instilled from an early age to foster positive daily habits. However, the cultivation of these habits among young children remains suboptimal, as evidenced by their limited ability to maintain personal and environmental hygiene. This situation is influenced by teaching methods that lack engagement and fail to fully involve children in active participation fully. This study aims to enhance the adoption of clean and healthy living habits among children through the implementation of the Role-Playing method. The study employs Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a mixed-methods approach, combining qualitative analysis of the learning process with quantitative descriptive analysis of the children's progress in these habits. The research was conducted over two cycles, comprising the stages of planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection. The subjects were 15 children aged 5–6 years at the Nurul Muslimin Early Childhood Education (PAUD) center. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and field notes, then analyzed descriptively based on observation results and the percentage of children's progress in each cycle. The results indicate that the Role-Playing method successfully improved the adoption of clean and healthy living habits over time. In the pre-cycle stage, the majority of children (61.11%) fell into the "Not Yet Developed" category. Following the intervention in Cycle I, the "Very Well Developed" category rose to 16.67%, and subsequently increased significantly to 88.89% in Cycle II. Thus, the Role-Playing method is effective in fostering clean and healthy living habits through learning that is active, interactive, enjoyable, contextual, and based on direct experience.

Abstract

Teacher performance is a primary determinant of instructional quality in madrasahs (Islamic senior high schools); however, its achievement is often influenced by various managerial and psychological factors that have not been fully confirmed in specific local contexts. This study aims to analyze the influence of the principal's academic supervision, teacher work motivation, and teacher work commitment on the performance of Madrasah Aliyah (MA) teachers in Central Aceh Regency, both partially and simultaneously. The study employs a quantitative approach using an explanatory survey method. The sample consists of 120 teachers from eight *Madrasah Aliyah* institutions (three state and five private schools), selected via proportional random sampling. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire—validated through factor analysis and proven reliable with Cronbach's Alpha values exceeding 0.60—and subsequently analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS 25.0 software. The results indicate that, when analyzed individually, teacher work motivation has a positive and significant effect on teacher performance (t = 2.052; Sig. = 0.046 < 0.05), whereas the principal's academic supervision (t = 0.399; Sig. = 0.379) and teacher work commitment (t = 0.505; Sig. = 0.168) do not have a significant partial effect. Simultaneously, the three independent variables significantly influence teacher performance (F = 8.234; Sig. = 0.000 < 0.05), contributing 38.1% to the variance (R² = 0.381), while factors outside the model explain the remaining 61.9%. These findings indicate that work motivation is the most dominant factor in driving teacher performance. In contrast, the effectiveness of academic supervision implementation and the strengthening of teacher work commitment require substantial improvement to yield a tangible impact on performance enhancement.

Abstract

Learning about adjusting entries in Vocational High Schools (SMK) requires the ability to identify accounts, calculate amounts, and construct accurate journal entries. A needs analysis revealed that students struggle to grasp adjustment procedures and require repeated practice accompanied by immediate feedback. Conventional teaching materials tend to render students passive and disengaged. Consequently, there is a need for interactive digital media that integrates content, practice exercises, and evaluation. A multimedia-based Electronic Student Worksheet (E-LKPD) integrated with the "Zep Quiz" digital quiz platform offers a unified learning experience; it provides immediate feedback and incorporates gamification elements to boost student engagement. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using the ADDIE model. The stages of Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation were carried out systematically to produce a valid product. Subject matter, media, and pedagogical experts conducted validation. Data were collected via validation sheets and response questionnaires, then analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. Validation results demonstrated a very high level of feasibility: 88.00% from subject matter experts, 84.00% from media experts, and 84.00% regarding pedagogical aspects, yielding an overall average of 85.33% (highly feasible). Student responses yielded an average score of 3.30 (highly feasible), with the ease of understanding the material and the engaging nature of the quizzes cited as key strengths. The multimedia-based E-LKPD utilizing Zep Quiz was deemed highly feasible and well-received, making it a viable, innovative learning medium to enhance student engagement and comprehension regarding adjusting entries.
