Abstract

This research aims to determine and analyze the improvement in problem solving abilities of class This classroom action research was carried out in 2 cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, action implementation, observation and reflection stages. The data obtained in this research include the results of observations of student activity during the learning process and giving test questions at the end of each cycle as well as the results of student reflection at the end of each lesson, the teacher's ability to manage learning taken from the teacher's observation sheet. The indicator of success in this research is that students are considered to have completed learning if they achieve a score of ? 65%, while a class is considered to have completed learning if there are 85% of students in the class who achieve an absorption capacity of ? 65%. The research results in cycle 1 showed that the percentage of student learning completeness was 75% so that the class had not finished learning and the percentage of student activity was 66.7%, while the research results in cycle 2 showed that the percentage of student learning completeness was 92.5% so the class had been completed learning and the percentage of student activity is 87.50%. From this research, it can be concluded that implementing a contextual learning approach can improve the accounting problem solving abilities of class.

Abstract

Parental method is a well-organized method used by parents in carrying the burden of responsibility for their children's future seen by instilling healthy beliefs, practicing worship, teaching children the good and bad, getting children used to learning, and give punishment. Parents, consisting of fathers and mothers, have a great responsibility in raising their children, especially in instilling religious values. This research was motivated by the existence of parents who experienced problems in instilling religious values in their children in Bulak Monga Hamlet, Sikakap District, Mentawai Islands Regency. The aim of this research is to describe: Parents' methods of instilling religious values in children. This research was conducted using quantitative descriptive methods. The research population was 30 parents (fathers and mothers) as a sample of the entire population using total sampling techniques. The instrument used is a questionnaire. Meanwhile, for data analysis, interval scores are used. The results of this research reveal that: Parents' methods of instilling religious values in children are in the quite good category, namely 40.0%. Based on the research results, it is recommended that parents increase their knowledge and be aware of their responsibilities in developing religious values in children.

Abstract

The poor daily scores of pupils resulting from their struggles with mathematical problem solving served as the impetus for this study. Finding out how difficult it is for students to solve narrative issues using comparison material is the goal of this study, which also aims to offer alternate options. This study was carried by utilizing a qualitative descriptive technique at UPTD SMP Negeri 4 Kisaran school. Purposive sampling procedures were used in this study, which included 31 participants from the entire population of class VII students at UPTD SMP Negeri 4 Kisaran, or up to 210 persons. The research was condcted during the odd semester of the 2022–2023 academic year. The study's data came from test findings. There are five essay-style test questions in this course that are all about comparative materials. Selecting and using the appropriate formula to solve arithmetic problems is the most common sort of difficulty that students have when working on comparison material narrative questions (53%). Based on the data processing findings, it was determined that class VII UPTD SMP Negeri 4 Kisaran students' level of difficulty in completing narrative problems met the "High" criterion with 48% of the total.

Abstract

This research aimed to identify the types of word formation processes used in four BBC News online articles on the issue of the invasion of Russia-Ukraine and to find out how those word formation processes occurred in each of the articles. This study employs the qualitative descriptive method, and the data is analyzed and classified in accordance with George Yule's (2020) theory. The researcher discovered 250 data on the word formation process in the articles. Borrowing with 0,8% of 2 data, compounding with 25,2% of 63 data, clipping with 0,8% of 2 data, conversion with 3,2% of 8 data, derivation with 68,8% of 172 data, and multiple processes with 1,2% of 3 data. Derivation is the most common type of word formation process found in the articles, while borrowing and clipping are the least common. From the seven types of word formation processes, coinage is the only one that is not found in articles

Abstract

Motivation to learn is important so that students can undergo the learning process well. So, it is necessary to implement good learning media to help increase student learning motivation. The learning media applied in this research is the Geogebra application because of its suitability for geometric transformation material. This research was carried out to increase the learning motivation of class IX students through the application of geogebra learning media at SMP Negeri 1 Kisaran. Researchers collected data using quantitative descriptive methods. Research instruments include direct interviews with teachers and students, as well as online questionnaires via Google Form. Students who are involved in learning with Geogebra show a higher level of participation and are more enthusiastic in learning geometric transformation material. Apart from that, they also achieved higher concept understanding test results than students who studied conventionally. This research provides an important contribution in supporting the use of technology in mathematics learning, especially in the context of geometric transformations, and provides recommendations for teachers and educational policy makers to expand the use of technology-based learning media in the learning process

Abstract

This research aims to describe students' ability to understand mathematical concepts for each indicator so that it is known which indicators students experience problems with. This research also aims to determine the level of ability of students based on ability level categories. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The instrument used in this research was a question/test of the ability to understand mathematical concepts, consisting of 4 validated questions. This research was carried out in class IX-11 of SMP Negeri 1 Kisaran which was carried out in the odd semester of the 2023/2024 academic year. Only 50% of students were able to fulfill the indicators of restating concepts, 77% of students were able to fulfill the indicators of classifying and grouping objects according to certain properties in accordance with their concepts, 56% of students who were able to fulfill the indicators were developing the concepts they already had, and 17% of students were able to meet the indicators of using and utilizing and choosing certain procedures or operations and applying them to problem solving. Furthermore, the research results showed that the level of understanding of mathematical concepts in the high category was 4 people or 13.33%, the level of understanding of mathematical concepts in the medium category was 22 people or 74.33%, and the level of understanding of mathematical concepts in the high category was 4 people or 13.33%. Researchers can conclude that students are still experiencing problems in the first and third indicators because 50% of students have not yet reached these indicators.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the level and analyze the mathematical learning motivation of class VII students at SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran. This research is descriptive qualitative research. The subjects of this research were class VII students at SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran. The sample in this research was 25 students of class VII of SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran. From the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that class VII students of SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran have three levels of motivation, namely 13 people (52%) with a high level of learning motivation, 10 people with a moderate level of motivation (40%), and 2 people with a low level of motivation ( 8%). Meanwhile, in the analysis of the aspects of the questionnaire given, the average percentage of students' mathematical learning motivation was 8 indicators of learning motivation and 15 statements. The average percentage of students' learning motivation was 73.25% with high criteria. This is shown from the 8 indicators provided and student statements, 6 of which are at high criteria, so it can be concluded that students' high curiosity and motivation in learning is proven by the students' efforts to dig up information themselves regarding the subject matter to be studied.

Abstract

Mathematical reasoning ability is a very important aspect in learning mathematics. This ability is a high-level ability that involves imagination and curiosity to think logically. Mathematical reasoning can be sharpened using the Problem Based Learning learning model, so this research was conducted to analyze the mathematical reasoning abilities of students at SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran using a qualitative descriptive approach. The subjects in this research were 32 students. The data used is written test results and observation results during the learning process which will then be analyzed using qualitative descriptive data analysis techniques including data reduction, data display and verification. The results of this research show that the mathematical reasoning ability of students in the high category is 8 people, 16 people are medium and 8 people are low, and the average value of the results of observations of mathematics learning activities in comparative material is 16.28125 with a percentage of 66.5%. which is included in the medium category. These results indicate that the reasoning abilities of students at SMP Negeri 5 Kisaran are in the medium category.
