Abstract

In recent years, the discovery of Beta-Secretase 1 (BACE1) enzyme inhibitors for more effective Alzheimer’s therapy has become a major focus, making in silico research to identify new inhibitors with minimal side effects increasingly essential. Ligand-Based Virtual Screening (LBVS) using Quantitative Structure–Activity Relationship (QSAR) methods offers a fast and cost-effective alternative to experimental assays. In this study, we propose a Conv1D-LSTM-based QSAR model as a novel approach for classifying BACE1 enzyme inhibitors, where Conv1D is employed for encoding molecular data and LSTM is used to classify compounds as active or inactive. The model is complemented by drug-likeness analysis based on Lipinski's Rule of Five to evaluate the therapeutic potential of candidate molecules. The dataset used includes 711 molecular structures, consisting of 278 active and 433 inactive compounds. Experimental results demonstrate that our model achieves a classification accuracy of 79.13%, with a sensitivity of 73.02%, specificity of 83.08%, and a Matthews Correlation Coefficient (MCC) of 56.38%.

Abstract

Motor vehicle tax serves as a significant source of local revenue, facilitating local development and the maintenance of public infrastructure. In Central Mamuju Regency, taxpayer compliance remains notably low, with over 26,000 vehicles reported as being in arrears in 2023. This research investigates the impact of tax officer service quality, tax literacy, and intrinsic motivation on taxpayer compliance, considering tax sanctions as a moderating variable. This study utilises Attribution Theory and the Theory of Planned Behaviour, focussing on the internal and external factors influencing compliance behaviour. A total of 100 respondents were selected via the Slovin formula, and the data were analysed using multiple linear regression and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) with SPSS version 26. The findings indicated that tax officer services and intrinsic motivation significantly influenced compliance, whereas tax literacy did not demonstrate a significant effect. Additionally, tax sanctions enhance the impact of tax officer services and intrinsic motivation on compliance; however, they do not influence the relationship between tax literacy and compliance. This study emphasises the necessity of integrating quality public services with initiatives aimed at enhancing taxpayers' intrinsic motivation, alongside the equitable enforcement of tax sanctions.

Abstract

Social media offers many benefits in people's lives including ease of communication, ease of getting information from social media and ease of sending and receiving messages in the form of documents or videos and photos via social media. However, people often receive negative impacts from social media, one of which is receiving hoax information. This study aims to analyze the relationship between exposure to hoax content and the level of social media literacy towards Generation Z in responding to online news. This type of research uses a positivistic quantitative method by distributing questionnaires to 400 respondents to the Z generation community in the city of Bandung. The author uses the Audience Reception theory by Stuart Hall which explains how messages are conveyed by the media produced by encoding and received by decoding by the audience. The results of the study showed that there was a significant relationship between exposure to hoax content and critical attitudes of generation Z. The higher the exposure to hoax content, the lower the critical attitude shown by respondents. In the sense that the more often someone is exposed to false information without being able to verify its truth, the more vulnerable they are to receiving information passively and uncritically.

Abstract

Ramadhan-based micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSME) grow rapidly in major cities as seasonal economic activities, yet their potential as culinary tourism attractions remains underexplored. This study aims to explore the potential of Ramadhan MSME in Batam City and propose development strategies within the framework of sustainable tourism. A mixed method approach was used, involving 195 tourist respondents through questionnaires and 30 vendors selected purposively for interviews. Data were gathered through field observation, documentation, and analyzed using descriptive and thematic techniques. Findings show that MSME activities peaked in the first three weeks of Ramadhan, with popular products including snacks and full meals. Most vendors were micro-enterprises managed independently, earning daily turnovers of IDR 500,000–1,000,000. Tourists valued service and the Ramadhan atmosphere as key attractions, although cleanliness and facilities need improvement. Pasar Mega Legenda was the most visited site. Recommended strategies include product innovation, integration into tourism packages, digital branding, and ongoing training. This study highlights that Ramadhan MSME have strong potential to become part of Batam’s inclusive, creative, and sustainable tourism ecosystem.

Abstract

As fraud becomes increasingly intricate, organizations must devise robust prevention strategies. By establishing effective measures against fraud, organizations can safeguard themselves from fraudulent activities and enhance their credibility and reputation. This research seeks to uncover the collaborative effect of internal audits and whistleblowing systems in curbing fraud within organizational settings. The study employs a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach, analysing various research on the roles of internal audits and whistleblowing in identifying and preventing fraud. The analysis included ten pertinent articles from 2019 to 2024, concentrating on the efficacy of these oversight mechanisms. Findings indicate that internal audits are crucial for internal control and risk assessment, while whistleblowing systems offer a channel for reporting misconduct that formal systems might overlook. By combining these two elements, a complementary approach is created that can enhance the efficiency of fraud prevention. This research suggests bolstering the internal audit function and establishing reliable whistleblowing systems as essential strategies for upholding organizational integrity and transparency. Future research needs to be strengthened by combining external audits of the whistleblowing system in fraud prevention to obtain more in-depth results.

Abstract

This study critically examines Indonesia’s feminist foreign policy approach in addressing trafficking in persons (TIP), particularly affecting women and children, during the leadership of Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi (2020–2023). Drawing on feminist international relations theory and foreign policy analysis (FPA), the paper explores how Indonesia operationalized gender-sensitive diplomacy through both internal and external mechanisms. Internally, key drivers included Marsudi’s leadership, bureaucratic reforms, civil society engagement, and national legislation aligned with human rights commitments. These factors enabled the mainstreaming of feminist values such as intersectionality, trauma-informed victim support, and survivor-centered approaches into foreign policy practices. Externally, Indonesia navigated the normative constraints of ASEAN’s non-interference principle while promoting the ASEAN Convention Against Trafficking in Persons (ACTIP) through silent diplomacy and norm entrepreneurship. The study highlights Indonesia’s strategic use of soft law, coalition-building, and cross-sectoral partnerships to advance gender-justice frameworks within regional and global diplomatic arenas. It further demonstrates how feminist diplomacy in a Global South context may deviate from overt ideological declarations, favoring pragmatic and culturally resonant approaches. Through qualitative document analysis and case-based inquiry, this paper reveals the potential of feminist foreign policy to influence international anti-trafficking norms without undermining regional cohesion. Indonesia’s experience offers an alternative model of feminist diplomacy characterized by quiet persistence, inclusive engagement, and context-specific implementation. The findings contribute to broader debates on how non-Western states can localize and institutionalize feminist foreign policy principles within constrained geopolitical settings.

Abstract

The beauty industry has experienced significant and rapid growth in recent years. However, this growth has not been reflected in Sociolla's revenue, which has shown fluctuations and a downward trend. In its annual report, Sociolla stated that it has implemented an omnichannel system to enhance customer experience. Surprisingly, this system has become the least utilized shopping channel among its consumers. Previous studies have also presented mixed results regarding the implementation of omnichannel strategies and customer management. This phenomenon has gained increasing attention from both academics and industry practitioners due to the growing challenges in delivering effective customer service. This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of omnichannel system usage and customer experience on customer loyalty through customer satisfaction at Sociolla Sun Plaza Medan. The research adopts an associative approach with quantitative data. The population consists of Sociolla customers at Sun Plaza Medan, whose total number is unknown. 210 respondents were selected using purposive sampling, with criteria including having made at least three purchases at Sociolla Sun Plaza Medan and having used multiple shopping channels. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with SmartPLS version 4.0. The results indicate that the use of the omnichannel system has a positive but insignificant effect on both customer satisfaction and loyalty. In contrast, customer experience has a positive and significant effect on both satisfaction and loyalty. Regarding indirect relationships, customer satisfaction does not mediate the effect of omnichannel system usage on customer loyalty. However, customer satisfaction does mediate the relationship between customer experience and loyalty at Sociolla.

Abstract

The fishermen's settlement area in Muara Angke, North Jakarta, faces serious challenges due to tidal flooding, poor infrastructure, and a clean water crisis. The Republic of Indonesia Defense University (Unhan RI) initiated a pilot project for area arrangement using stilt houses and floating houses as adaptive solutions. This article examines a multidisciplinary approach involving physical development, clean water and sanitation systems, as well as strengthening the community's social capacity. The methodology includes field observation, community participation, and technical infrastructure analysis. The results show that the application of modular technology, desalination systems, and waste treatment can improve quality of life and environmental resilience. This model has the potential to be replicated in other coastal areas in Indonesia, strengthening community resilience and territorial defense through a community-based civil defense approach, while also supporting geostrategic strategies and national policies for coastal area management.

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of renewable energy consumption, industrialization, urbanization, trade openness, and economic growth on carbon emissions in nine ASEAN countries namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Brunei over the period 1994 to 2023. Using panel data regression methods with Fixed Effect Model (FEM) and Common Effect Model (CEM) based on Chow and Hausman tests, the results show that renewable energy consumption has a statistically significant negative effect on carbon emissions. In contrast, industrialization, trade openness, and economic growth exert positive influences. Urbanization presents varied effects depending on the country's development level and institutional quality. These findings provide empirical evidence supporting the role of renewable energy in emissions reduction, while also highlighting the environmental risks associated with rapid industrial and economic expansion in the absence of sustainable policies. Policymakers are advised to design integrated energy, industrial, and trade policies that align with regional low-carbon development goals and to strengthen cooperation under the ASEAN Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) framework. Keywords: Carbon emissions; Industrialization; Renewable energy; Trade Openness; Urbanization
