Abstract

Character education has become a crucial aspect of Indonesia's national education system, particularly in shaping a generation that excels not only academically but also possesses strong morality and social responsibility. In line with the Merdeka Curriculum, learning is not only focused on knowledge transfer but also on shaping students' character through the internalization of moral values. Physical Education, Sports, and Health (PESH) plays a strategic role in strengthening character because it offers students opportunities to develop values such as self-confidence, sportsmanship, honesty, discipline, teamwork, self-control, leadership, and democratic attitudes through physical activities. This study aims to explore how PESH can be designed with an intentionally structuring approach to more effectively internalize these moral values. The research involved 72 students, divided into experimental and control groups, each consisting of 36 participants. The study used a quasi-experimental design, where the experimental group received a character-based PESH learning intervention. Data collection techniques included questionnaires and observation, while data analysis was conducted using a t-test to compare the program's effectiveness between the two groups. The results of the study showed that PESH learning with a focus on moral character had a significant impact on students' personality development compared to the control group. In conclusion, the integration of moral values in PESH should be consistently applied, as it effectively shapes students with strong character and responsibility, in line with the goals of national education

Abstract

The disparity in student abilities presents a significant challenge in football education at junior high schools, resulting in unequal outcomes and low mastery of technical, cognitive, and Affective. This study addresses the need for tailored teaching approaches by implementing the Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) method, which groups students based on skill levels to provide inclusive and effective learning. The research aimed to evaluate TaRL’s effectiveness in enhancing psychomotor, cognitive, and affective abilities and increasing the number of students meeting the cut score. The participants were 34 eighth-grade students from SMP Negeri 19 Bandung. A Classroom Action Research (CAR) design was applied, consisting of two cycles: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The intervention included skill-specific learning tailored to different ability levels. Data collection used skill-based tests (dribbling, passing, shooting, juggling), written cognitive assessments (rules and tactics), and behavioral observations (teamwork, motivation, discipline). Data were analyzed descriptively to measure progress between cycles. Results showed a significant improvement, with the percentage of students meeting KKM increasing from 0% to 88%. The study concludes that TaRL effectively bridges skill gaps, improves learning outcomes, and motivates students. Future research should explore its scalability in other sports and its integration with technology to enhance engagement and accessibility. Abstract

The importance of understanding biomechanics in sports, particularly in running activities, significantly contributes to improving athletes' techniques and performance. This study aims to analyze the 1000-meter running motion of athletes from the Sportyjoy Club in Cimahi City through a sports biomechanics review. The study employs a descriptive analytical method with a one-shot case study design. Kinematic data were obtained from video recordings analyzed using Kinovea software (version 2023.2.1). The study sample comprised 10 middle-distance athletes aged 11–14 years selected through purposive sampling. The results showed that the athletes' average running speed was 3.88 ± 0.68 m/s, with a maximum speed of 5.00 m/s and a minimum speed of 2.87 m/s. The average stance phase duration was 0.21 ± 0.05 seconds, while the swing phase lasted an average of 0.32 ± 0.09 seconds. Biomechanical parameters such as arm flexion angle (57.25 ± 9.69⁰) and knee height (0.45 ± 0.06 m) were also analyzed to evaluate running efficiency. Based on physical fitness assessments, 2 athletes were categorized as very good, 4 as good, 1 as fairly good, and 3 as poor. This study demonstrates that running efficiency is influenced by the stance and swing phases, arm flexion angles, and knee height. Therefore, coaches and athletes can use these findings to improve running techniques, enhance performance, and reduce injury risk through a biomechanical approach
