Abstract

Amidst the ongoing reforms in Ukraine's educational sector, prioritizing students' health and improving their physical prowess has become imperative. This study explores the feasibility and effectiveness of integrating diverse forms of traditional basketball into high school physical education lessons to enhance the work capacity of students. The research cohort comprised 29 male 11th-grade students. The assessment of physical work capacity focused on the Harvard Step Test (HST), utilizing its metrics to measure students' development. Univariate analysis was employed for data analysis. Results indicated a satisfactory level of physical fitness among students, slightly below the established norm. These findings emphasize the need to incorporate various basketball derivatives, including streetball, korfball, netball, rezball, ringball, slamball, and cestoball, into the general secondary education physical education curriculum. The comprehensive adoption of these variations not only improves high school students' functional capabilities and enhances their enthusiasm for physical activities but also deepens their understanding of the objectives of physical culture, contributing to the broader objectives of the educational sphere. Future research should focus on defining a set of informative indicators and developing comprehensive means of enhancing motor skills and proficiency in basketball. This approach is expected to boost high school students' work capacity and foster increased interest in basketball and its derivatives. Abstract

The relationship between playing experience and skill analysis ability among pre-service physical education teachers is understudied. This study examined the relationship between playing experience, general and game-specific, and skill analysis ability among pre-service physical education teachers in Singapore. Pre-service physical education teachers completed surveys of their playing experience and skill analysis ability prior to the start of their physical education teacher education programs. Spearman's rank-order correlations were run to determine the relationships between playing experience, general and game-specific, and skill analysis ability among pre-service physical education teachers. The results showed that the pre-service physical education teachers lacked playing experience in general and were not able to analyze any of the skills commonly taught in schools. Also, there was no correlations between playing experience and skill analysis ability, e.g., a pre-service physical education teacher with playing experience in a game/sport is unable to analyze the skills used in that game/sport, and they are also unable to analyze skills not used in that game/ sport.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to examine the effectiveness of the Tactical Games learning model combined with the Teaching by Invitation technique in boosting both learning motivation and physical activity among elementary school students. This quasi-experimental study included three groups: the first group utilized the Tactical Games model integrated with the Teaching by Invitation technique, the second group applied solely the Tactical Games learning model, and the third group, serving as the control, followed the conventional learning model. Participants were fifth-grade students from three different schools in Tasikmalaya, Indonesia. To measure outcomes, three research instruments were employed: the Electronic Rubric for Motivation in Physical Education (eRMoPE) to assess learning motivation, the Polar GPS RC3, and the Polar Heart Rate Sensor H3 to evaluate the category of students' physical activity. Findings indicated that while all three approaches effectively enhanced learning motivation and physical activity, the combination of the Tactical Games model with the Teaching by Invitation technique yielded superior improvements. This integrative method grants students the autonomy to select skills they wish to learn and master, aligning with their abilities and understanding of game tactics adapted to specific game situations and environments. This freedom fosters a more engaging and personalized learning experience, ultimately enhancing both motivation and physical activity levels among students. The study highlights the potential benefits of blending tactical learning strategies with motivational techniques, suggesting a valuable approach for educators aiming to improve physical education outcomes in elementary schools
