Abstract

In the era of globalization and increasingly fierce business competition, companies are faced with the challenge of retaining qualified employees. Competent and experienced employees are valuable assets for organizations because they contribute significantly to the achievement of company goals. Therefore, employee retention is an important strategic issue to be considered by company management. Compensation is one of the main factors that influence employees' decision to stay with a company. According to several studies, fair and competitive compensation can increase employee satisfaction, which in turn has a positive impact on employee retention. Good compensation includes not only basic salary, but also incentives, bonuses, allowances, and other facilities that can improve employee welfare. Thus, effective compensation management is crucial in the effort to retain employees. Career development is another very important aspect in influencing employee retention. Employees tend to feel more satisfied and committed to companies that provide clear and structured career development opportunities. Training programs, further education, mentoring, and transparent career paths can help employees feel valued and motivated to continue growing within the organization. Research shows that employees who see career development prospects where they work tend to have higher loyalty to the company. A strong and positive organizational culture also plays an important role in employee retention. A culture that is supportive, inclusive and in line with employees' personal values can increase their sense of attachment to the company. Organizational culture includes values, norms, and behaviors that are accepted and shared by all members of the organization. When employees feel that the organizational culture matches their personal values, they tend to be more at home and motivated to stay with the company. The objectives of this study are: to find out whether compensation, career development and organizational culture affect employee retention both partially and simultaneously. Then the stages in this research methodology are to test the validity and reliability of the research instrument, after passing these tests, the classical assumption test will then be carried out and then use multiple linear regression tests where the data will be processed using minitab statistical software / SPSS. The implication of this research is that the company will later find out what variables can affect employee retention, especially in the variables of compensation, career development, and organizational culture.

Abstract

This study examines the competencies of teacher activists in Pacitan District, focusing on their roles and collaborations with the local government to enhance educational development. Teacher activists, often representing key stakeholders in the educational ecosystem, play a pivotal role in shaping policies, implementing educational reforms, and fostering a collaborative spirit with government agencies. The study investigates the skill sets, knowledge, and personal attributes that define effective teacher activists, particularly in the context of local educational governance in Pacitan District. Data were collected through a combination of qualitative interviews, questionnaires, and field observations involving teacher activists, local government officials, and school administrators. The analysis considers competencies such as leadership, communication, policy advocacy, and community engagement, evaluating their impacts on policy implementation, curriculum development, and student outcomes. The results indicate that teacher activists in Pacitan District possess high levels of commitment and are well-versed in local educational policies, yet often lack formal training in public administration and policy advocacy. This skill gap limits their capacity to collaborate effectively with the local government in some instances, resulting in missed opportunities for educational improvements. The study also identifies key areas where teacher activists can enhance their competencies to better fulfill their roles. Notable among these are strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and understanding of government procedures, which are crucial for effective policy advocacy and execution. Strengthening these areas through targeted professional development programs could empower teacher activists to more effectively champion educational causes and influence policy-making at the district level. A significant outcome of this study is the recommendation for a structured, collaborative framework between teacher activists and the local government, with an emphasis on joint decision-making, regular training sessions, and shared objectives. Such a framework could enhance the efficacy of educational policies and ensure that teacher activists’ input is both valued and impactful within the broader educational development agenda of Pacitan District. The study concludes that the competencies of teacher activists significantly influence their ability to cooperate with the local government, impacting educational progress within the district. A mutual understanding of roles, coupled with ongoing professional development, is essential to maximize the potential contributions of teacher activists. This collaborative approach is crucial for driving sustainable educational reforms and fostering a supportive environment for student achievement across Pacitan District schools. Future research should explore the long-term effects of competency-based training on teacher activists' roles and the overall quality of education within similar regional settings, aiming to generalize these findings for broader applicability across Indonesia’s educational landscape.

Abstract

The role of parents and social support of peers can potentially cause an adolescent to have a high tendency of alcohol consumption behavior that causes indifferent behavior to the environment, loss of interest in the surrounding environment, irritability or anger, and lack of concern for the scope or social. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between parental role and peer social support with adolescent alcohol consumption behavior. This study uses quantitative research methods. The sampling technique used was non probability sampling with purposive sampling method. The number of participants was 173 respondents. The results showed that the pearson correlation value was 0.932 with sig. = 0,000 (? 0,05). This means that there is a highly significant relationship between parental role and peer social support with alcohol consumption behavior. The implication of this study is that there needs to be an intervention on parental role and peer social support in adolescents so that the level of alcohol consumption becomes low.

Abstract

This study aims to investigates the use of translanguaging by Indonesian students who are continuing their education in the United States. The research was motivated by the rampant use of translanguaging, especially through the use of social media such as YouTube. The study examines forms of translanguaging, including code-switching (CS), code-mixing, and multimodal communication, as well as the functions these serve in shaping audience engagement. Through a qualitative descriptive analysis of three videos, the research identifies that code-switching is the most prominent component, appearing in 82% of "Grad School Decision Reaction," 80% of "Welcome Orientation at Harvard," and 70% of "Last Week of the Semester at Harvard." Translation and interpretation (TI) are more prevalent in academic videos, particularly in "Last Week of the Semester at Harvard" (30%) and "Welcome Orientation at Harvard" (18%), while less frequent (18%) in "Grad School Decision Reaction." Speech functions such as referential (RF) and metalinguistic (MF) are the most prominent, with MF accounting for 64% of speech functions across all videos, emphasizing Zhafira’s reflection on language use. This study emphasizes the significance of translanguaging as a key strategy for effective communication and identity expression in digital media, offering insights into how creators like Zhafira engage with multilingual audiences in today’s globalized environment.

Abstract

This study explores the role of literacy and emotional intelligence as essential competencies in informal learning for Industry 5.0, emphasizing the need for adaptive skills to navigate technological advancements balanced with human values. Using a Systematic Literature Review (SLR) approach, the research analyzed publications from 2021 to 2024 in the Scopus database, focusing on studies that address literacy, emotional intelligence, informal learning, and critical competencies for Industry 5.0. Findings reveal that social-emotional skills, digital literacy, and future literacy are foundational for preparing individuals to thrive in complex work and social environments. Evidence suggests that early development of social-emotional learning (SEL) enhances cognitive and interpersonal skills, fostering resilience and adaptability. Informal learning through social activities, sports, and future-oriented reflections strengthens competencies in self-regulation, empathy, and critical thinking, which are essential in rapidly changing contexts. The study recommends integrating SEL into both formal and informal curricula, promoting digital and emotional literacy training, embedding future literacy, and enhancing community-based activities. These strategies can better equip individuals for the collaborative and adaptive demands of Industry 5.0, bridging the gap between technical expertise and human-centred skills.

Abstract

This research studies the effect of inflation, UMP, and GRDP on the trade balance of Java Island by considering the complexity of the relationship between these variables. The methodology used is multiple linear regression analysis with secondary data from the Central Bureau of Statistics and the Ministry of Trade for the period 2017-2023. The Common Effect Model (CEM) is used, and the results of the analysis show that the independent variables can explain 72.28% of the variation in the trade balance. The results show that inflation has a significant negative effect on the trade balance, where an increase in inflation can reduce the competitiveness of domestic products. UMP also has a significant and negative effect, where an increase in UMP may increase purchasing power but also production costs, potentially reducing competitiveness. In contrast, GRDP shows a significant positive effect, where economic growth can increase export volume despite the risk of increasing imports. This study recommends the need for effective economic policies to control inflation and adjust UMP to suit local economic conditions, in order to improve Indonesia's trade balance performance.

Abstract

This study examined the effectiveness of Predict-Explain-Enact-Observe–Reflect (PEEOR) instructional strategy on Woldia College of Teachers’ Education general science students’ conceptual understanding and motivation in motion and force topic. The pre-test posttest quasi-experimental design was used for the study. The sample constituted purposefully selected 107 general science summer, year II students of Woldia College of Teacher Education. Data was collected through conceptual understanding test and post motivation questionnaire. The conceptual understanding test is made up of 15 questions. Its KR-20 reliability value was 0.75. The Cronbach Alpha (?) reliability coefficient value of the scale was determined to be .84. Results obtained through the use of descriptive statistics and ANCOVA showed that PEEOR group (adjusted mean =6.787) was significantly different from traditional group (adjusted mean =5.134). POE group (adjusted mean =6.472) did not differ significantly from either PEEOR  or traditional group.  On other hand  with regard to the motivation of the student, there was a statistically significant difference at the p .05 level in post test motivational questionnaire (PMQ) scores for the three  groups F(2, 104) = 4.753, p=.011. Consequently, it was recommended that college physics teachers should adopt the Predict-Explain-Enact-Observe-Reflection instruction strategy while the college and department head of natural science should propagate the potentials inherent in the novel strategy among science teachers.
