Abstract

Banjarwaringin Village in Salopa District, Tasikmalaya Regency has potential for goat farming as community farming. The study aims to examine the effect off Indigofera as a diet of sheep on body weight gain in Salopa District, Tasikmalaya. The method used was a completely randomized design method with 6 male goats as samples which were divided into 3 treatment groups and 2 replications. The design of the applied study that will be carried out is P0 with control, P1 with 1% Indigofera and P2 with 2% Indigofera. Business analysis using business analysis B/C ratio, R/C ratio, production BEP and price BEP. Sampling of body weight and the same age. The variables observed included PBHH of goats. F test with the SPSS version 15 analysis tool. The results showed that there was a significant difference in ADG P0 61.00 ± 2.828 (a), P1 101.00 ± 1.414 (c), P2 76.00 ± 5.567 (b). The results of the business analysis showed an increase in farmer's income of IDR 258,359 in the treatment with Indigofera, and the value of the R/C ratio was 1.09.

Abstract

Gembili tuber is one of the local foods of the Papuan people and has the potential to be developed into derivative products. Gembili tubers need to be made into flour before being processed further. Drying in the flouring process is a crucial stage because it determines the quality of the gembili flour produced. The drying temperature of gembili chips that is less than optimal will result in low flour quality. The purpose of this study was to obtain the optimal temperature and drying time for gembili chips. The method used in this research is the experimental method. Gembili chips were dried at 60oC, 70oC, and 80oC. Each drying temperature was 6, 8, and 10 hours with three replications. Gembili chips were milled using a blender at 1800 rpm. Drying is done mechanically using an electric oven. Sifting using tyler size 70 mesh. Testing the quality of gembili flour fineness modulus, yield, whiteness degree, and water content. Study results, namely the temperature and drying time of gembili chips affect the quality of gembili flour produced. The best gembili flour based on the perangkingan method was obtained from variations in the drying treatment at 60oC with a drying time of 10 hours for gembili chips. The characteristics of gembili flour in the best treatment were as follows: water content of 1,29%, whiteness degree of 87,10%, fineness modulus of 0,35, and yield of 20,20%.

Abstract

Availability of meat and egg among rural communities comes from native chickens. However, the productivity of native chickens is still relatively low. The aim of this research was to determine the effect of in ovo feed of glutamine on hatchability and hatching weight of native chicken egg. As many 300 fertile eggs used, which were injected with glutamine at day 7 of incubation period. The research was arranged as a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) of 5 treatments, 3 replications. As for the treatments consisted of P0 (negative control); P1 (injected 0,5 ml 0,9% NaCl); P2 (injected 0,5 ml 0,5% glutamine in 0,9% NaCl); P3 (injected 0,5 ml 1,0% glutamine in 0,9% NaCl); P4 (injected 0,5 ml 1,5% glutamine in 0,9% NaCl). The results indicated that hatchability of the eggs fed in ovo by 0,9% NaCl (P1) and 0,5% glutamine (P2) were higher compared to the control and the other treatments. Thus, in ovo feed of glutamine on the 7thday of incubation resulted in higher hatchability with the injection of NaCl without glutamine and the hatching weight tended to bee higher at the level of 1,5%.

Abstract

Exfoliating the stem bark and giving PGR is an alternative to increasing the success of bougainvillea cuttings. The aim of the study was to determine the success rate and growth rate of bougainvillea cuttings by exfoliating the bark and administering various PGRs. The research was conducted from March to July 2020 at the Trilogy University Experimental Garden, South Jakarta. This study used a Split-Plot Randomized Block Design with two factors, namely peeling factor (peeling and without peeling) and providing various ZPT (control, Rootone F 10 g L-1, shallot extract 200 g L-1, bean sprout extract 200 g L -1, and young coconut water). The results showed that the combination of stem bark peeling and shallot juice soaking was able to increase the proportion of pink bougainvillea (Bougainvillea spectabilis Willd.) cuttings growing by up to 87% compared to Rootone F immersion. Peeling treatment without providing various sources of PGR and treatment without peeling by soaking in shallot juice gave the fastest shoot emergence time, namely 10 HST. The stem peeling treatment was able to increase the number of shoots and the number of leaves on bougainvillea cuttings. Providing various kinds of PGRs (with a single treatment) can increase the number of leaves, number of shoots and shoot length on bougainvillea cuttings.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to evaluate synthetic antibacterial agent replacement with natural antibacterial agent on the inhibition of the growth of Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. This study used a meta-analysis technique to record 128 data which collected from Google Scholar with substitution, natural material, antibacterial, and mastitis as keywords. The meta-analysis technique begins with collecting data from several scientific publications that contain data according to the specified parameter requirements and analyzed using LaunchOpenMEE. The effect of substitution of synthetic antibacterials with natural antibacterials was significant non replaceable (P<0,05) on the inhibition of mastitis cause bacteria. The conclusion from the results of this meta-analysis is that the replacement of synthetic antibacterials with natural antibacterials has not been able to optimally inhibit the ability of the bacteria that cause mastitis.

Abstract

Kasgot fertilizer is one of the potentials that the community can utilize to become organic fertilizer. On the other hand, milkfish is one of the strategic commodities to fulfill protein that is favored by the people of Indonesia, especially Makassar. However, milkfish washing water waste is usually thrown away, causing environmental pollution. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the fulfillment of nutrients in mustard microgreens through the application of cassava fertilizer and milkfish washing water and to determine the level of knowledge, attitudes, and skills of farmers towards the fulfillment of nutrients in mustard microgreens through the provision of cassava fertilizer and milkfish washing water. This study method used a factorial randomized block design (RAK) consisting of 2 factors with 12 treatments and 4 replications. The first factor consists of K0 = soil (100%), K1 = kasgot 10%, K2 = kasgot 30%, K3 = kasgot 50%. The second factor consisted of B0 = Control, B1 = milkfish washing water 50 mL/L, B2 = milkfish washing water 100 mL/L. Application of 10% kasgot fertilizer was effective on plant fresh weight with a value of 0,926 g, adding root volume to 0,80 mL, chlorophyll with a value of 6,342 and leaf area with a value of 11,72 cm2. The results of this study concluded that the application of kasgot fertilizer by 10% had a real effect on increasing the production of pakchoi microgreens.

Abstract

The main objective of this study was to investigate the impact of adding crab (Portunus pelagicus) shell flour and lime (Citrus ×aurantiifolia) acidifier in broiler feed on their performance and body resistance. The study followed a completely randomized design (CRD) with a total of 80 broiler chickens, divided into 5 treatments with 4 replications. Each replication consisted of 4 broiler chickens. The treatments included: P0 = feed with 19% protein, P1 = feed with 20% protein, P2 = feed with 19% protein + 2% blue swimming crab shell flour, P3 = feed with 19% protein + 1,2% lime acidifier, P4 = feed with 19% protein + 2% blue swimming crab shell flour + 1,2% lime acidifier. The study focused on observing feed consumption, body weight gain, Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), and lymphoid weight. The results revealed that the addition of crab shell flour and lime acidifier in the broiler feed did not improved performance and body resistance but doesn’t have negative influence.

Abstract

High yielding corn breeding program is an alternative to meet national needs. Characterization is one of the essential stages in a corn breeding program. This research aims to evaluate agronomic characters and yield potential of the parent lines to be used as a basis for the hybrid variety development program. This research was conducted from May to October 2023 at the Koto Tingga Experimental Station, Padang, West Sumatra Province. There are 5 promising corn lines used in this study with a one-factor completely randomized block design with 3 replications, therefore there were15 experimental units. The results shows that lines significantly affected on all characters except the number of cobs per plant and yield potential. The Mz1 line had the highest yield potential (3,7 tons ha-1), followed by the Mz5 line (3,4 tons ha-1). These two lines have relatively medium plant height (221,6–246,3 cm), early harvest maturity (94,2–99,9 DAP), and medium to high 100–grain weight (28,4–37,9 g). These two lines have the potential to be further developed as crossing parental.

Abstract

Closed-house broiler chickens are one of the applications of technological developments in the livestock industry by providing an environment that is in accordance with what chickens need. Mini-closed houses are built so that small and medium farmers can raise broiler chickens in the closed houses at a minimum cost. The application of information system technology 4.0 (based on IoT) in mini-closed house enclosures enables farms to become smart farms (Smart Mini Closed House/Smart Pro). The purpose of this study was to compare the production performance of broiler chickens kept in a closed house without IoT and a closed house using IoT (Smart Pro). The IoT system is used to control temperature, humidity, and air quality in real time. Observations were made for eight periods, from August 2022 to March 2023. The observed data were analyzed descriptively. The results showed that broiler chickens reared on Smart Pro had a lower average feed consumption with a higher final weight, so the feed conversion value tended to be lower. There is no difference in the percentage of depletion or performance index between the two observations. The application of IoT technology in broiler rearing shows a tendency for an increase in production performance (final weight and feed conversion). However, it is necessary to adapt the use of new technology for human resources in controlling the IoT system so that it can be utilized optimally.

Abstract

Sustainable agricultural policies encourage agricultural innovations such as the use of bio saccharides as elicitors in plants. Biosaka contains chemical compounds that trigger a positive response in plants. Shallots are a superior commodity whose cultivation practices often do not pay attention to the negative impacts on the environment. Using biosaka as an alternative can support more environmentally friendly shallot farming. This research aims to identify the effect of using a biosaka elicitor on the growth and production of shallots. The research was carried out from July to September in Kab. Subang, West Java with an altitude of 10 m above sea level. The biosaka elicitor treatment was carried out using 3 treatment formulas, namely A: formula 1 (babadotan, kitolod, anting-anting, maman lanang, and pasang bumi), B: formula 2 (jelantir, sembung, patikan kebo, meniran, and sembung rambat), C: formula 3 (babadotan, anting-anting, sembung, jelantir and meniran), D: control (without elicitor), treatment was repeated 6 times. The results of the research show that all weed-based bio saccharide elicitor formulations can increase plant height, number of leaves, and weight of onion bulbs. Selection of appropriate elicitors with appropriate cultivation techniques can produce optimization plant product.
