Abstract

This research analyzes Becky Kennedy's use of hedges and boosters in the TED Talk "The Single Most Important Parenting Strategy." The aim is to describe the types of hedges and boosters used by Kennedy and determine the most frequently occurring categories. A qualitative descriptive method was used with data collection through visual perception of the talk show. The steps of data collection included: 1) searching for and downloading the TED Talk and its transcript, 2) watching the talk show repeatedly, 3) converting the Word document into Txt format, and 3) importing the transcript into AntConc.exe. The analysis technique used was content analysis using the following steps: 1) examining the text containing the words hedges and boosters, 2) classifying the types of hedges and boosters, 3) presenting the data in tables, 4) analyzing using Hyland's (1998) theory, 5) drawing conclusions. The results showed that Kennedy tended to use words in the modal verb category in hedges and boosters and indicated the dominance of Kennedy's use of modal verbs in strengthening or doubting his arguments in the speech.

Abstract

The role of Pancasila education in shaping the ethics of the younger generation of students is becoming increasingly crucial to ensure that the nation's noble values are maintained and applied in everyday life. This study aims to determine the role of Pancasila education in shaping the younger generation. This research method specifically adopts a qualitative approach with a focus on analytical description. Data collection is carried out by collecting from various literature sources such as scientific journals, articles, books, and related expert works. Data analysis is carried out qualitatively consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of data analysis show that civic education is essentially a conscious and planned effort to educate the nation's life for citizens by cultivating the nation's identity and morals as a basis for the implementation of the rights and obligations of defending the state for the survival of life and glory and the nation and state as well as the development of good citizen attitudes. Pancasila education as character education is one part of instilling character in students because in Pancasila education there is main character education and basic character education. Pancasila education in the Indonesian education curriculum is not only a symbol but also as an initial shield in facing the threat of the decline of the nation's noble values

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze competency development strategies for educational Human Resources (HR) to improve the quality of education in Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach through literature study. Data collection is carried out through various literature, namely scientific articles on Google Scholar and reference books. Data analysis is carried out qualitatively consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results showed that the development of educational human resources can be done through on-the-job and off-the-job training strategies and focus on four main teacher competencies: pedagogic, personality, social, and professional competencies. The implications of this research are the need for regular evaluation of Pre-service Teacher Professional Education programs, the implementation of integrated training strategies, adaptation to the VUCA era, and a focus on teacher competency development. This recommendation is expected to make a positive contribution in efforts to improve the quality of education in Indonesia

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the phenomenon that often arises related to the increasing use of abreviation in electronic communication in the UPI Office Management Education student environment, starting from how abreviation is used and how much student knowledge about abreviation itself. The method used is a qualitative research approach method where each student has diverse views on the use of abreviation, this research data is collected through interviews which are then analyzed according to theory. The results of this study show that office management education students use abreviation in electronic communication, thus facilitating effective communication. The use of this abreviation can lead to misunderstandings in interpreting the meaning of the word conveyed to the recipient of the message. By using the right abreviation, office management education students can minimize the mismeaning and purpose of abreviation. It can be concluded from this study that office management education students are proven to use abreviation still often in electronic communication for the reason of facilitating information and speeding up the communication process

Abstract

The key to educational success lies in the role of the teacher. The presence of teachers who have good qualifications and professionalism is crucial to achieve this goal. One of the important steps to becoming a professional teacher is to complete a Bachelor of Education program. But not all students who take education study programs have an interest in becoming teachers. This is due to a bad perception of the teaching profession. This study aims to determine the emergence of negative perceptions of students majoring in education about the teaching profession. The type of research used in this study is descriptive qualitative, data collection techniques through interviews with seven students selected using purposive sampling, and meeting research criteria. The results showed that the selection of accounting education majors was influenced by various factors, including fear of not passing the selection to enter the dream study program, as well as extrinsic motivation, namely from teachers. The role of teachers in influencing students' choice of majors and careers is crucial. However, negative stigma against the teaching profession, especially related to low salaries, may make some participants hesitant to choose the teaching profession. However, some participants still open the opportunity to become a teacher as a last resort, especially if there is no other option to go to

Abstract

This research aims to explore and develop effective strategies to enhance intergroup behavior in the school environment. A quantitative approach was employed in this study using a survey research design and data collection techniques through direct observation. The population of this study consisted of primary school students in a specific area, with a randomly selected sample. The results of the study indicate that factors such as interpersonal perception, self-concept, and student social interactions significantly influence intergroup cooperation in schools. The implications of these findings for the development of more inclusive and collaborative educational practices are also discussed. Recommendations are made to strengthen intergroup cooperation through regular training programs and collaborative activities held in schools

Abstract

Human Resource Management (HRM) plays a key role in achieving organizational success. This research aims to delve deeper into the role of HR in the context of modern organizations. The research method used is qualitative analysis of various data sources that include related literature, internal organizational data, and interviews with HR practitioners. Data analysis is carried out qualitatively consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Research findings show that HR has an important role in employee recruitment and selection, employee development to improve their performance and skills, performance management with evaluations and incentives that encourage productivity, as well as conflict handling and creating a healthy work environment. An effective HR strategy is proven to improve employee performance, achieve organizational goals, and strengthen company competitiveness. The practical implication of the study is that investing in good human resource management can result in a positive impact on organizational growth, employee productivity, and corporate sustainability in the long run

Abstract

This study explores the role of group behavior in improving the quality of interpersonal relationships in MAN 1 Tanah Datar, focusing on the context of learning English lessons during the pandemic. This study used a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research methods used include data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation studies, followed by comprehensive data analysis using the VosViewer method to analyze the relationship of publications with historical and institutional; author and institutional relations; and dissemination of PAI knowledge. The results showed that the transition to online learning during the pandemic has affected the effectiveness of teachers' observations of children's character and moral values in English lessons. Leadership in the context of Islamic education is also an important factor in directing group behavior towards efforts to improve the quality of interpersonal relationships. Group dynamics and character education also contribute significantly in strengthening the quality of interpersonal relationships in MAN 1 Tanah Datar. With these findings in mind, the study provides valuable insights for the development of educational strategies that are more effective in improving the quality of interpersonal relationships in English learning environments.

Abstract

Pancasila Education as an Effort to Strengthen the Character of Indonesia's Young Generation Pancasila education is a compulsory subject at all levels of education in Indonesia. Today's younger generation has lost moral values and character. This study aims to determine the role of Pancasila education as an effort to strengthen the character of the younger generation. This research uses a qualitative approach through the literature review method. Data collection is carried out through secondary data sourced from scientific articles. Data analysis is carried out qualitatively consisting of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusions. The results of data analysis show that the younger generation needs to be repositioned in behaving by leaving the hedonic culture and outside culture that is not in accordance with the values of Pancasila. In addition, they must also actively ground Pancasila in community life. The active role of the younger generation, including students, in maintaining and implementing the values of Pancasila is key in carving out the future of the nation. Students as the frontline in struggle, renewal, and nation building are expected to be able to take advantage of the opportunity to forge themselves and learn to become individuals who have the character of nationalism, creativity, and the spirit of service to the community, nation, and state

Abstract

The digital era has fundamentally transformed the paradigm of education. Nowadays, students not only interact with learning materials but also with various digital platforms that offer access to unlimited resources and information. This research aims to analyze the role of social support in enhancing motivation and psychological well-being of students from the perspective of Education in the digital era. The research method employed in this study is a literature review with a qualitative approach and descriptive analysis. Data for this study were gathered from Google Scholar spanning from 2013 to 2024 through a focus on the keywords social aspects, motivation, psychological well-being of students, education, and the digital era. The results of the study indicate that social support is a crucial factor influencing the motivation and psychological well-being of students in the context of education in the digital era. Despite the continuous evolution of technology, genuine human relationships and emotional support remain key pillars in shaping positive learning experiences. Social support emanates from various sources, including peers, family, faculty, and academic communities. The expansion of technology usage enables the preservation of social connections, although it is important to note that the quality of interactions in the virtual world may not always be equivalent to face-to-face interactions.
