Abstract

This research dissects “The Truman Show” using metaphor, simile, and personification to expose concealed symbolism. The study employs a qualitative method, scrutinizing the film’s script based on X.J. Kennedy’s theory. Data is gathered through film observation and noting the usage of these literary devices. The film primarily uses personification (41.2%), followed by metaphor (35.3%) and simile (23.5%). These devices stimulate viewers to question reality and the media’s impact. They underscore the significance of privacy in genuine life experiences. The film serves as a warning, revealing how turning real life into entertainment can dehumanize individuals and reminding us of the value of privacy as a crucial part of a genuine life experience. The study follows a systematic process, including outlining the topic, creating the thesis layout, gathering information from the film and online research, and analyzing the symbols and meanings in the thesis. The research provides insights into human experiences and the impact of media on our perception of reality. Keywords: The Truman Show, Concealed Symbolism, Metaphors, Similes, and Personifications

Abstract

Islamic religious counselors generally engage in oral preaching. However, the needs of the community are not limited to intellectual and spiritual aspects alone, thus requiring a developmental strategy in the form of actions or initiatives. This research discusses the strategies employed by Islamic religious counselors in empowering the community of Kampung Dakwah in the Punggur District of Central Lampung Regency. The study aims to analyze the strategies of Islamic religious counselors, identify challenges, and examine the outcomes achieved through the implementation of the strategies used by Islamic religious counselors in empowering the community in Kampung Dakwah. This research is qualitative in nature and employs observation, interviews, and documentation as methods of data collection. The data sources are divided into two categories: primary data sources and secondary data sources, which will be analyzed using data triangulation and conclusion drawing methods. The findings of this research indicate that: (1) The strategies employed by Islamic Religious Counselors in community empowerment in Kampung Dakwah are carried out through stages of awareness raising, transformation of intellectual improvement, and strategy evaluation. (2) The challenges faced include the limited capability of religious counselors in the field of economic empowerment. (3) The outcomes achieved include the reduction of social issues, improved economic conditions for productive-aged poor families, and a decrease in illiteracy rates in reading the Quran in Kampung Dakwah. Abstract

Educators are a very important factor in education. Because educators are the key in the classroom because they are tasked with leading and directing students' learning activities. Imam Al-Ghazali has sharp opinions, depth and wisdom of thinking and far-reaching views regarding teaching issues and other problems related to it. From the books he wrote, namely the Ihya' Ulumiddin and Minhajul Muta'allim books, we can see the importance of the concepts given by Imam Al-Ghazali in discussing the concept of an educator, which includes definition, position, professionalism/competence and the characteristics of an educator. which is then linked to its relevance in contemporary Islamic education. Because contemporary Islamic education is an activity carried out in a planned and systematic manner to develop students' potential based on the rules of the Islamic religion today. Taking this into account, this research is a library research by examining various literature related to the concept of educators and teacher competence from Imam Al-Ghazali's perspective and its relevance in contemporary Islamic education. By using content analysis techniques in processing primary and secondary data which became the reference for this research, several educational competencies and educational concepts from Imam Al-Ghazali's perspective were found. These competencies are in the form of pedagogical competence, personality competence, social competence and professional competence. Abstract

This paper explains the concept of educational democracy in the perspective of Islamic educational philosophy. Although democracy and Islamic education may seem contradictory at first glance, an in-depth study reveals the fundamental compatibility between the two. In Islam, education is seen as a basic right of every individual, similar to the basic principles of democracy that emphasize freedom and human rights. In this context, educational democracy is not only about access, but also about how education is delivered and how education-related decision-making processes are carried out. Islamic educational philosophy emphasizes the importance of justice, equality and recognition of diversity, principles that are in line with democratic ideas. This article suggests that by integrating democratic principles into the Islamic education system, a more inclusive, participatory and just approach to education can be achieved. Thus, educational democracy in the perspective of Islamic philosophy of education represents a paradigm that values diversity, participation, and justice in education. Abstract

This paper explains that multicultural education emphasizes the importance of respecting and understanding cultural diversity in education. In the context of Islamic education philosophy, multicultural education has a deep relevance and is in line with the basic principles of Islam that emphasize equality, justice, and equality among all humans regardless of race, ethnicity, or cultural background. Islam encourages its people to know and understand each other, in accordance with Allah's words in the Qur'an letter Al-Hujurat verse 13 which mentions the importance of knowing each other. Therefore, multicultural education in the Islamic perspective is not only a necessity in a plural society, but also part of the practice and demands of religion. The multicultural approach in Islamic education helps enrich students' understanding of diversity and teaches them to be tolerant and respectful of differences. Through this education, it is hoped that a harmonious, peaceful and respectful society can be realized in the midst of cultural and religious diversity Keywords: Multicultural Education, Islamic Education Philosophy, Education

Abstract

This study aims to see an overview of students' mathematical problem-solving skills in elementary school. This study uses a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects in this study amounted to 25 grade 5 students in one of the elementary schools in Bandung with details of 10 male and 15 female students. The data collection technique used is a mathematical problem-solving test instrument based on Polya theory on fractional concept material. The data analysis carried out was to calculate descriptive statistics using Microsoft excel and SPSS version 24 to see an overview of mathematical problem-solving skills, categorization of problem-solving scores based on high, medium, and low, and the achievement of students' mathematical problem-solving indicators. From these data, it is then analyzed in depth and linked with relevant theories. The results of this study showed that based on the categorization of student scores, 4 students were in the high category, 15 students were in the medium category, and 6 students were in the low category. The indicator that has a high percentage of students mastered is understanding the problem at 73%, and the lowest indicator at re-checking is 44%. This research can contribute to efforts to create meaningful learning in mathematics by involving complex thinking skills including mathematical problem-solving skills. Abstract

Viruses are the cause of diseases that affect the human body and can lead to pandemics and epidemics in various countries. No new content has been added beyond the original text. Viruses are the cause of diseases that affect the human body and can lead to pandemics and epidemics in various countries. The language used is clear, objective, and value-neutral, with a formal register and precise word choice. The text adheres to conventional structure and format, with consistent citation and footnote style. The text is free from grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and punctuation errors. The purpose of this research is to determine the SIS model for the spread of viral diseases, such as Covid-19 and bird flu, and their resolution behavior. The model is formed by creating a flow diagram of the disease spread using the SIS (Susceptible, Infected, Susceptible) model. The sentences and paragraphs create a logical flow of information with causal connections between statements. The study revealed two equilibrium points: the disease-free equilibrium point and the endemic equilibrium point. To analyze the stability of the disease-free equilibrium point, linearization around the equilibrium point was used. The disease-free equilibrium point is asymptotically stable if the basic reproduction number is less than one, indicating that the disease will disappear after a certain period of time. Numerical simulations were conducted to analyze the behavior of the disease model. Keywords: Education Models, Mathematics Models, SIS (Susceptible, Infected, Susceptible)

Abstract

In the era of independent learning, there was a low interest in and understanding of Natural Sciences (IPA) subjects among students. The project-based learning model emerged as an alternative to overcoming these constraints. So researchers want to know the impact of project-based learning in primary schools. The method used is pre-experimental quantitative, with the design as follows: taking samples, pretest, providing guidance, post-test after guidance, looking for the average value of the pretest and post-test, and T test results. The research was conducted at Surakarta Basic School with a 30th grade student. Types of bound variables are the values and understanding of students in the V class of Natural Sciences (IPA) and project-based free learning variables. Collecting techniques with post-test and post-test as well as data analysis with pairs of T tests. Research finds that project-based learning models have an influence on elementary school students in the fifth grade in natural science subjects (IPA). Based on the analysis, results show that t hitung > t table (2.977 > 1.6991) means there are significant differences, so the project-based learning model has an influence on value and understanding.
