Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in enhancing geography learning outcomes among students at SMA Negeri 1 Tombulu, using a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental design (One Group Pretest-Posttest). The sample was selected through purposive sampling from the population of class XI Social Studies. Data collection employed triangulated instruments: motivation questionnaires, grade documentation, and participatory observation. Descriptive analysis revealed a significant increase in mean scores from pretest (56.66) to posttest (80), with 83.33% of participants (5 students) achieving the Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) in the final phase, compared to none initially. These findings underscore the pivotal role of PBL in optimizing conceptual assimilation of global-local flora and fauna distribution through inquiry-based learning and collaborative group mechanisms. Pedagogically, the study recommends integrating PBL as an alternative strategy within geography curricula to strengthen cognitive and analytical skills.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the geographical study of the Tilangnga' Natural Tourism Object in Tana Toraja Regency using a quantitative descriptive approach and SWOT analysis. Data was collected over three months through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, with variables covering physical and non-physical geography. The results indicate that physical aspects include paved road access (strength), a location close to the city center (opportunity), and cool temperatures due to surrounding vegetation. Non-physical aspects include local traditions related to ancient eels (strength), scattered trash (threat), and limited facilities and parking space (weakness). Based on the weighting of ALI (1.2) and ALE (1.6), the tourism object is in quadrant 1, indicating potential to leverage strengths to seize opportunities. The recommended priority strategy is aggressive (growth-oriented strategy), such as optimizing facilities, waste management, and promoting local uniqueness. This research emphasizes the importance of integrating physical and socio-cultural geographical aspects in sustainable tourism development.

Abstract

The problem of land conversion for industrial areas is a phenomenon that occurs in many cities, including East Serang. This phenomenon is a reference in the importance of calculating carrying capacity, settlement capacity and projecting settlement land needs until 2045. The research is located in part of the East Serang area in the settlement spatial pattern, with the research objective: a) analyzing land capacity, b) analyzing the carrying capacity and settlement capacity, and c) determining the distribution of locations that have high carrying capacity and settlement capacity. The approach of this research is quantitative with technical analysis: a) processing through mapping software, b) determination of land capability scale, and c) calculation of carrying capacity and settlement capacity. The results of the research show that: a) the ability class of the East Serang area in the settlement spatial pattern is divided into two, namely medium and high development ability, b) carrying capacity and settlement capacity in the research areas can still be developed into research locations, and c) areas that have high carrying capacity and settlement capacity, namely Kopo and Pamarayan sub district.

Abstract

Contextual companion textbooks are needed in geography learning with a spatial perspective as a tool for expressing material so that it can stimulate student’s understanding of spatial concepts. This research aims to analyzed the needs of companion textbooks development reviewed from teachers, students, and curriculum. This type of research is quantitative and descriptive research with questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies as data collection techniques. The research subjects are students in XII grade at SMA Negeri 3 Palembang, SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang, and SMA NU Palembang. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that students have good interest in reading books and good spatial perspective. However, these characteristics are not supported by the main textbooks that have not been compiled with a spatial perspective so that the books have not been able to stimulate student’s understanding of spatial concepts. Based on the needs analysis conducted, it can be concluded that it is necessary to develop companion textbooks with a spatial perspective so that they can stimulate students' understanding of spatial concepts.
