Abstract

Muna weaving is a form of local wisdom in Muna Regency that has become the primary source of livelihood for the community. The purpose of this study is to determine the value chain and the actors involved in the value chain of Muna weaving. This study was conducted in four villages that serve as weaving centers in Muna Regency, namely Masalili Village, Madodo Village, Mabholu Village, and Liangkobori Village. Value chain analysis was used to identify the production process of Muna weaving, from the provision of raw materials to the final product reaching the hands of consumers. The results of the study show that the value chain of Muna weaving in Masalili Village differs from that of the other three villages due to variations in the use of raw materials and the distribution of weaving craftsmen as actors in the value chain. The entire production process is carried out in these four villages, and woven products are then distributed to consumers through three channels: purchasing through weaving entrepreneurs, purchasing directly from weaving craftsmen, or through distributors. Muna weaving is now being distributed and promoted abroad, demonstrating its great potential for further development.

Abstract

This paper examines fertility in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta, with a focus on socio-demographic and economic factors. Sleman, a region of strategic significance within the Special Region of Yogyakarta, exhibits unique demographic characteristics that warrant further analysis, particularly in relation to fertility rates. The study highlights the impact of factors such as age at first marriage, ideal number of children, live births, education, employment, contraceptive use, and reasons for not using family planning. Utilizing secondary data from the 2023 Family Survey and Update conducted by BKKBN, the study finds that most residents prefer smaller families, with two children considered ideal. This paper also emphasizes the crucial role of access to healthcare services in shaping fertility patterns. The findings provide valuable insights into local demographic dynamics and offer guidance for policy development aimed at managing population growth and promoting sustainable development.

Abstract

The concept of a waterfront city in urban development is still limited to political ideas without considering the physical aspects of the area. This article aims to explore spatial data in Kupang City, East Nusa Tenggara, based on geographic information systems. Weighting and scoring with parameters of residential area, accessibility, spatial layout, activity centre, water body, topography and industrial area in 5 sub-districts in Kupang City. The results of the analysis show that the class of very suitable Developed as a waterfront city area is Kelapa Lima sub-district and Alak sub-district (798.76 Ha); this shows that only some beaches can be optimised into a waterfront city.

Abstract

This study aimed to develop a contraceptive education pocket book for the fishing community of Pitusingguh. The research employed a developmental approach, involving needs analysis, expert validation, and limited trials. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, focus group discussions, and questionnaires, and then analyzed using descriptive and content analysis techniques. The results showed that the developed pocket book effectively addressed the unique needs of the coastal community, with expert validation scores averaging above 4 out of 5 for accuracy, content relevance, and visual appeal. Limited trials with 15 coastal women revealed high levels of comprehension and information relevance (average scores of 4 and 4.5 out of 5, respectively). The study found that incorporating cultural sensitivity, integrating community-based health services, and implementing behavior change communication strategies were crucial in creating an acceptable and relevant educational tool. The pocket book shows potential for improving knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding contraceptive use among the Pitusingguh fishing community, although further content adjustments are recommended to accommodate various education levels.

Abstract

Urbanization has caused Pamekasan Sub-district to experience obstacles in meeting the minimum requirement of Green Open Space area in accordance with the established regulations. This research aims to determine the priority location of Green Open Space by integrating multi parameters (NDVI, THI, and Population Density) with the help of Geographic Information System so that Green Open Space development planning can run effectively. The results of the analysis are then compared with the RDTR of Pamekasan Urban Area to ensure appropriate planning implementation. The results of the three analyses state that there are 62% of areas that are highly prioritized for green space development. The results of the comparison of the RTH priority map according to Humaidah with the spatial pattern map of the Pamekasan Urban RDTR show a 76% conformity and there are still 24% that are not suitable, including the types of RTH for cemeteries, sub-district parks, and urban forests.

Abstract

Resources have a crucial role in maintaining the sustainability of human life and the surrounding ecosystem. Malang Regency, one of the regions with the largest number of beef cattle in Indonesia, has great potential to support the growth of the livestock sector with 234,481 beef cattle and is ranked fifth nationally. Optimal support, especially land carrying capacity, is the key to maximizing the potential of the livestock sector. The establishment of a livestock area in Tumpang District is a strategic step to increase production capacity and availability of animal feed. This research uses a Mixed Methods method with a spatial approach, involving data analysis such as unsupervised classification, evaluation of natural forage potential, and calculation of the Forage Carrying Capacity Index (IDD). The findings show that all villages in Tumpang District have an IDD above 2 so they are categorized as safe. With several potential villages such as Pulungdowo, Duwet Krajan, and Bejor. With these findings, strategic steps can be taken to utilize this potential sustainably to increase the contribution of the livestock sector in Malang Regency.

Abstract

The increasing population and decreasing amount of land in Pati Regency make it important to evaluate the suitability of agricultural land to meet the increasing demand for food. This study aims to determine the suitability class of agricultural land and its limiting factors in Pati Regency. This study is descriptive and uses the technical method of spatial overlay analysis. The data used are secondary data from agencies, namely related to rainfall data for months 1-4 (mm), temperature (%), soil drainage, texture, soil depth (cm), clay CEC (cmol), soil pH, slope (%), erosion hazard, and salinity. The data obtained is then scored according in the Technical Evaluation of Agricultural Land. The results of this study show that irrigated rice fields are spread across 20 sub-districts, and include three land suitability classes, namely; S1 (very suitable) of 35,776.48 Ha; S2 (quite suitable) of 727.96 Ha; and S3 (marginally suitable) of 12.8 Ha. Meanwhile, rainfed rice fields are spread across 17 sub-districts and have different suitability classes, namely: S1 (very suitable) of 7,466.99 Ha; S2 (quite suitable) of 15,807.90 Ha; and S3 (marginally suitable) of 97.75 Ha. In addition, agricultural wall factors were also found, namely slope gradient, soil drainage, and soil pH.

Abstract

Contextual companion textbooks are needed in geography learning with a spatial perspective as a tool for expressing material so that it can stimulate student’s understanding of spatial concepts. This research aims to analyzed the needs of companion textbooks development reviewed from teachers, students, and curriculum. This type of research is quantitative and descriptive research with questionnaires, interviews, and literature studies as data collection techniques. The research subjects are students in XII grade at SMA Negeri 3 Palembang, SMA Srijaya Negara Palembang, and SMA NU Palembang. The data obtained were analyzed using quantitative descriptive analysis techniques. The results of this study indicate that students have good interest in reading books and good spatial perspective. However, these characteristics are not supported by the main textbooks that have not been compiled with a spatial perspective so that the books have not been able to stimulate student’s understanding of spatial concepts. Based on the needs analysis conducted, it can be concluded that it is necessary to develop companion textbooks with a spatial perspective so that they can stimulate students' understanding of spatial concepts.
