Abstract

Chronic kidney desease is a gradual decline in kidney function over more than 3 months, characterized by a decrease in glomerular filtration rate and an increase in blood creatinine levels. One of the management strategies is hemodialysis, which can cause side effects such as fatigue. Fatigue can interfere with daily activities and is characterized by feelings of weakness, tiredness, lethargy, decreased concentration, emotional disturbances, and sleep disorders. One non-pharmacological therapy to address fatigue is foot massage and lemon aromatherapy, which can provide relaxation effects and influence endorphin hormones, thus reducing fatigue. Objective to determine the effect of the combination of foot massage and lemon aromatherapy on fatigue in patients with chronic kidney failure undergoing hemodialysis at Sultan Imanuddin Regional General Hospital, Pangkalan Bun. This study used a quasi-experimental design with a one-group pretest and posttest approach. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, with 30 respondents participating in the study. The treatment was administered for 10 minutes after the respondents underwent hemodialysis. The research instrument used was the FSS (Fatigue Severity Scale) questionnaire. Before receiving foot massage and lemon aromatherapy, all 30 respondents (100%) experienced fatigue. After the intervention, 27 respondents (90%) no longer experienced fatigue. Statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test revealed a p-value of 0.000, indicating that p-value < 0.05. The combination of foot massage and lemon aromatherapy has an effect on reducing fatigue in patients with chronic kidney desease undergoing hemodialysis at Sultan Imanuddin Regional General Hospital, Pangkalan Bun.

Abstract

Stunting or short stature is a condition of impaired growth and development in infants and toddlers caused by chronic malnutrition, resulting in the child being too short for their age. The prevalence in Kendal Regency has decreased, but it has not yet met the target. Objective to describe the maternal pregnancy history of children with stunting. This is a quantitative study using a retrospective approach. The population in this study consists of mothers with toddlers experiencing stunting, located in the stunting locus health centers in Kendal Regency, totaling 680 individuals. The sample was selected using a purposive technique with a cluster sampling approach, with a total sample size of 251 participants. The characteristics of the respondents show that the average age of the mothers is 28 years, with 115 mothers (45.8%) having a high school education. The majority of mothers are unemployed or housewives, totaling 110 (43.8%). Male toddlers account for 132 (52.6%) of the sample, and 132 (52.6%) of the mothers have toddlers classified as severely stunted. The maternal pregnancy history reveals that the majority, 233 (92.8%), are at risk due to factors such as pregnancy spacing, body stature, pregnancy planning, iron (Fe) supplement intake, nutritional intake, prenatal checkups, pregnancy-related hypertension, anemia during pregnancy, pregnancy contractions, and rest patterns.

Abstract

Anemia is a health problem that is often found in teenagers with a prevalence of 32%. Anemia in adolescents has a negative impact on growth, development, cognitive abilities and learning concentration, as well as increasing susceptibility to infectious diseases. The causes of anemia in teenagers include lack of intake of nutrients needed for the formation of hemoglobin, namely energy, protein, iron (Fe), and vitamin C. Dates are rich in calcium and iron. Consuming date milk regularly can help the body have enough iron, thereby reducing the risk of anemia. Objective to determine HB levels before and after giving date milk and to find out the difference in average HB levels in teenagers before and after giving date milk. This type of research uses a quasi experiment with a two group pre and post test with control design. The research subjects were 32 teenagers consisting of treatment and control groups. The treatment group was given date milk at a dose of 300 ml/day for 7 days, while the control group was not given it. Data analysis used the independent t-test. The average hemoglobin level in the treatment group increased by 0.72 g/dL, while in the control group there was a decrease in hemoglobin level by 2.78 g/dL with a ρ value of 0.000 < alpha 0.05 so there was a significant difference between the average hemoglobin level before and after giving date milk. Consuming 300 ml of date milk/day for 7 days can increase hemoglobin levels in adolescents.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels due to the body's inability to produce or use insulin effectively. This disease is one of the top ten causes of death worldwide, and its prevalence continues to rise. Adherence to treatment is crucial for controlling blood sugar levels and preventing serious complications. The aim of this study is to examine the correlation between knowledge and medication adherence in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients at the Sukadana Health Center, East Lampung Regency. This study uses a cross-sectional design with 84 respondents selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire consisting of two parts: knowledge about diabetes and adherence to treatment. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test and Odds Ratio (OR) calculation. The research results indicate a significant relationship between knowledge about diabetes and medication adherence (p=0.017). Among Type 2 DM patients, 5.5% had high knowledge and high adherence, while 7.4% had low knowledge and low adherence. An Odds Ratio (OR) of 0.010 indicates that respondents with high knowledge were more likely to adhere to treatment compared to those with low knowledge. Therefore, there is a significant relationship between the knowledge of type 2 DM patients and adherence to treatment, with a low level of correlation.
