Abstract

Classroom Action Research (CAR) is a reflective and systematic approach undertaken by teachers to improve the quality of learning in their own classrooms. This article comprehensively discusses all stages of CAR, from the introduction to the concept, history and development, characteristics and basic principles, problem identification, action planning, implementation and observation, reflection and data analysis, report preparation, and the implications and challenges of its implementation. CAR positions teachers as active researchers capable of designing solutions based on classroom context and learning theory. Through a literature review from various sources, such as Arikunto (2010), Purwanto (2023), Sinaga (2024), and Usman et al. (2019), this article emphasizes that CAR is not merely an administrative obligation, but rather a professional process that empowers teachers and students. In-depth reflection and valid data analysis are at the heart of the CAR cycle, enabling continuous improvement. The implications of CAR include improving teacher competency, active student participation, strengthening a research-based school culture, and contributing to educational policy. This article also identifies various challenges in implementing CAR, such as time constraints, methodological understanding, and structural support. Recommendations include ongoing training, institutional support, and the integration of CAR into teacher professional development systems. With the right approach, CAR can be a catalyst for sustainable and meaningful educational transformation.

Abstract

The research was conducted at the Experimental Field of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Islam Sumatera Utara, Jln. Karya Wisata, Gedung Johor, Medan Johor District, Medan City, North Sumatra Province, at an altitude of approximately 25 metres above sea level, with flat topography. This research was conducted from January to March 2025. S. frugiferda is an important pest on corn plants that can cause losses with an attack intensity of up to 80%. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect of refugia plants and corn varieties on S. frugiferda attacks and the number of pest predators. This study used a split-plot design with two treatment factors, namely refugia plants Turnera subulata (B1), Tagetes erecta (B2), No Refugia (B0), and treatments of Pertiwi variety (V1) and Advanta Madu 59 variety (V2). The results showed that the Turnera subulata refugia plant and the Advanta Madu 59 variety produced lower S. frugiferda pest attacks and higher numbers of pest predators, although this was not statistically significant.

Abstract

This research is entitled Deforestation Control: A Study of Forest Areas in Subulussalam City, Aceh. The main problem in this research is the increasing deforestation that has an impact on ecosystem damage, reduced biodiversity, and threats to the sustainability of community life. Subulussalam City was chosen as the research location because it is the area with the second highest deforestation rate in Aceh, especially in the Leuser Ecosystem (KEL) area. Theoretically, this research is based on the perspective of public administration, public management, and command and control theory which emphasizes the importance of regulation, supervision, and law enforcement in natural resource management. The research method uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation of informants from the DLHK, NGOs, business actors, and local communities. The results of the study indicate that the mechanism for controlling deforestation in Subulussalam City is carried out through the prohibition of illegal logging, restrictions on logging permits, routine patrols, and the use of technology such as satellite imagery and smart patrols. Obstacles found include limited human resources, infrastructure, weak coordination between agencies, and minimal community participation. Furthermore, economic pressures on communities and the practice of land conversion to plantations have exacerbated the rate of deforestation. The conclusion of this study is that deforestation control in Subulussalam City is underway, but its effectiveness remains limited. Institutional strengthening, increased technology-based monitoring, consistent law enforcement, and community empowerment are needed to maintain sustainable forest conservation.

Abstract

Achieving the ambitious economic growth targets mandated in the Bandung Regency's Regional Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMD) requires a solid investment planning foundation. This study aims to examine the investment needs required to drive the acceleration of regional economic growth until 2030. Using a quantitative approach through Incremental Capital-Output Ratio (ICOR) analysis based on historical GRDP and GFCF data, this research measures the level of investment efficiency and projects the required capital amount. The analysis results indicate that Bandung Regency has a reasonably good level of investment efficiency. However, to achieve the established economic growth targets, a significant increase in investment volume beyond historical realization is necessary. This finding implies that the regional development strategy must focus on two main pillars: not only attracting large volumes of investment but also maintaining and enhancing investment efficiency (keeping the ICOR low) through improvements in the business climate, human capital quality, and directing investment towards high-value-added sectors.
