Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model in improving students’ conceptual understanding and learning outcomes in Islamic Religious Education (PAI). Using a systematic literature review approach, this research examines findings from empirical studies published between 2019 and 2024 sourced from Google Scholar, DOAJ, and nationally indexed journals. The review reveals that PBL significantly enhances students’ understanding of Islamic concepts by engaging them in authentic, contextual problems that require analytical thinking, argumentation, and reflective inquiry. Students demonstrate deeper comprehension when exposed to real-life cases related to Islamic teachings, enabling them to interpret and apply religious concepts within practical contexts. The model also contributes to improved cognitive achievement, as evidenced by increased post-test scores and strengthened higher-order thinking skills. Furthermore, PBL fosters students’ motivation and engagement through collaborative group activities, meaningful discussions, and student-centered learning dynamics. Several supporting factors such as authentic problem design, teacher facilitation, structured group work, and reflective practice are identified as essential elements in ensuring the successful implementation of PBL. Overall, this study concludes that PBL is an effective pedagogical model for advancing both conceptual understanding and learning outcomes in PAI, making it suitable for 21st-century Islamic education demands.

Abstract

Social engagement in rural communities continues to face challenges in building solidarity, cooperation, and active citizen participation. This study aims to analyze the role of volleyball tournaments as a medium for strengthening community social cohesion within community service activities in Sialang Sakti Village. The research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design, utilizing participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation techniques. The findings indicate that volleyball tournaments are able to enhance social interaction, strengthen togetherness, and instill values of cooperation, discipline, sportsmanship, and social responsibility. However, several limitations were identified, including variations in participation levels among different age groups and the lack of program sustainability. These findings confirm that community sports function not only as recreational activities but also as important instruments for building social networks and internalizing collective values. Active community participation through such activities can serve as strategic social capital for sustainable village development. Therefore, the development of a more structured and sustainable sports-based community service model is necessary to strengthen long-term social impacts and ensure equitable involvement of all community groups.

Abstract

The rapid development of digital technology has significantly transformed learning environments and created new challenges for students in maintaining academic resilience. Alongside increased access to information, students are also exposed to digital distractions, academic pressure, and reduced learning control, making learning resilience a critical competence in the digital era. Within this context, Family Learning Climate and Self-Related Skills, including self-regulation, self-efficacy, and emotional management, are assumed to play a central role in supporting students’ ability to adapt and persist in learning. This study aims to examine the influence of Family Learning Climate and Self-Related Skills on students’ learning resilience in a non-urban educational context in Indonesia. A quantitative research design was employed involving 160 students of SMA 1 Langgudu in the 2025/2026 academic year, selected from a population of 480 students using stratified random sampling. Data was collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression analysis. Instrument validity was ensured through expert judgment, and reliability testing produced Cronbach’s alpha values exceeding 0.80, indicating high internal consistency. The results indicate that the regression model is statistically significant (p < 0.001), confirming that Family Learning Climate and Self-Related Skills simultaneously influence learning resilience. Family Learning Climate contributes positively and significantly to learning resilience (β = 0.284, p = 0.001), while Self-Related Skills emerge as the stronger predictor (β = 0.316, p < 0.001). Furthermore, the model explains 19.2% of the variance in students’ learning resilience. These findings suggest that learning resilience is shaped by a synergy between family support as an external factor and intrapersonal capacity as an internal factor. The study highlights the need for educational policies and practices that strengthen parental involvement and intrapersonal skill development to foster resilient learners in the digital era.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of government spending in the education and health sectors, the labor force participation rate (TPAK), and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) on poverty in Indonesia during the period 2010–2014. Poverty is a complex socioeconomic problem arising from individuals’ inability to meet basic needs, which in turn limits access to essential services such as education and health. In this study, poverty is treated as the dependent variable, while government expenditure on education and health, TPAK, and GRDP serve as the independent variables. The contribution of this study lies in providing empirical evidence on the relative importance of social sector spending and economic factors in reducing poverty at the regional level in Indonesia. The findings are expected to enrich the existing literature on poverty alleviation and serve as a reference for policymakers in designing more effective and targeted poverty reduction strategies

Abstract

Education (PAI) teacher who experiences a profound methodological and ideological transformation from fundamentalism to pluralism in the context of aqeedah teaching. The transformation is examined through the framework of diametral methodology, a narrative research approach that situates opposing ideological poles as a dialectical space for understanding how epistemic, spiritual, and pedagogical changes unfold across time. By reading the teacher’s life history through this diametral lens, the study seeks to reveal the dynamic processes that shape pedagogical orientation, identity formation, and instructional decisionmaking in Islamic education. The data for this study are fictional yet academically grounded, constructed through a triangulation of literature on religious moderation, critical pedagogy, transformative learning theory, and the sociocultural experiences of Islamic education teachers in Indonesia. This approach enables the narrative to remain analytically rigorous while presenting a realistic and contextually rich portrayal of a teacher’s ideological journey. The findings illustrate that the teacher’s shift toward pluralism does not emerge abruptly; instead, it develops gradually through a series of existentialreflective crises, interfaith dialogues, exposure to diverse theological discourses, and increasing engagement with contemporary educational paradigms that emphasize inclusivity and human dignity.

Abstract

The transition to college is a very challenging phase for new students, especially for students in boarding schools where academic and social demands occur simultaneously. This study aims to obtain an overview of the adjustment process of new students, identify the most challenging dimensions of adjustment, and determine the factors that support new students' adjustment efforts. The study was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method on four first-year students at Semarang X Boarding School (MWM, BJP, NA, and BS). Data were obtained through in-depth interviews and observations, then the data were analyzed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA). The results of the study indicate that the four participants were able to adjust well. The adjustments that were perceived as the most challenging were academic adjustment. Support from parents, friends, and caregivers, involvement in campus activities, and time management skills were supporting factors for the success of the students' adjustment process. The results of this study strengthen previous studies on the importance of social support and the role of institutions in the adjustment process of new students and provide recommendations for the development of new student orientation programs in boarding schools.

Abstract

This study examines the concept of local-wisdom Qur’anic exegesis as an interpretive approach that integrates the Qur’anic message with the language, values, and cultural symbols of Nusantara communities. Using a qualitative library-research method, this study traces the development of local-wisdom tafsir from the interpretive practices of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, the spread of Islam across various regions, to its consolidation in the Nusantara through dakwah and local-language manuscripts. The findings show that this approach facilitates public understanding, strengthens the cultural identity of Islam Nusantara, and serves as an effective medium for religious communication. Nevertheless, it also presents limitations, including the potential dominance of cultural elements over the text and the need for interpreters to possess competence in both cultural knowledge and Qur’anic sciences. This study affirms that local-wisdom tafsir is an essential approach for contextualizing the Qur’an in multicultural societies.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the development strategies of a self-reliant village through the Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and to review their alignment with Islamic economic principles in Tepian Langsat Village, Bengalon District, East Kutai Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques include interviews, observation, and documentation. The results show that BUMDes Tepian Bina Bersama operates business units such as microfinance, basic goods distribution, and social programs that directly impact community welfare and increase the Village Original Income (PADesa). The development strategies are carried out in a participatory, transparent, and locally based manner, involving both the village government and the local community. From the perspective of Islamic economics, these strategies reflect principles of justice, consultation (shūrā), transparency, and public benefit (maṣlaḥah). However, several challenges remain, including limited understanding of Islamic commercial law (muʿāmalah) among managers, the absence of fully sharia-compliant financing models, and a lack of sharia-based managerial training. Improvement efforts are being made through human resource development, transparent reporting, and continuous community engagement.

Abstract

In the context of education in Indonesia, the quality of learning is largely determined by the effectiveness of instructional leadership implemented by school leaders, especially principals. Instructional leadership plays an important role in guiding teachers to improve the quality of teaching, learning planning, and student learning outcomes. Unfortunately, many teachers in Indonesia still face challenges in terms of academic supervision, development of pedagogical competence, and lack of collaborative culture supported by strong leadership management. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct an in-depth study on how the instructional leadership model can be managed strategically in the context of Indonesian education. This study aims to analyze the role and strategies of instructional leadership management in supporting teacher performance in Indonesia. Specifically, this study explores best practices, implementation barriers, and the contribution of instructional leadership to teacher professional development and improving the quality of learning. The method used is qualitative research based on literature review, by reviewing various scientific articles, education policy reports, and relevant academic publications from the last 5 years. The analysis was conducted thematically to identify patterns, approaches, and strategic implications of instructional leadership practices in Indonesian schools. The results of the study show that the success of instructional leadership is greatly influenced by the principal's ability to build a learning vision, provide professional support to teachers, and create a conducive school climate. In addition, teacher involvement in decision-making and ongoing training has been shown to increase learning effectiveness. Instructional leadership is an important pillar in education management in Indonesia. Strengthening the principal's managerial function, collaboration of teaching teams, and support for education policies are essential to ensure that instructional leadership can contribute to improving teacher quality and student learning outcomes sustainably.
