Abstract

Red dragon fruit peel (Hylocereus polyrhizus) is an agricultural waste that contains quite high natural anthocyanin pigments. The purpose of this study was to determine how the effect of solvent, temperature and pH on the total content and stability of anthocyanins from liquid extract of red dragon fruit peel. Extraction of anthocyanins from red dragon fruit peel using maceration method with solvent distilled water, distilled water: acetic acid 10% (1:6), and distilled water: citric acid 10% (1:6) and testing was carried out in the form of anthocyanin stability tests at pH 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and temperatures 0°C, 10°C, 20°C, 30°C, 40°C, 50°C. The results obtained showed that the use of distilled water:citric acid 10% (1:6) as a solvent resulted in the highest total anthocyanin content with 18.034 mg/200 mg and the results of the anthocyanin stability test showed that it was stable at pH 1, 2, 3 and at temperatures of 10°C, 20°C, 30°C.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder and characterized by hyperglycemia and disorders of the metabolism of carbohydrates, fats, proteins. The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of Diabetes mellitus patients, the pattern of treatment carried out, and appropriate anti diabetic in terms of cost and effectiveness aspects at Abdul Wahab Sjahranie Regional Hospital Samarinda. The study was conducted retrospectively on medical record records. The results of 115 patients showed that most Diabetes mellitus sufferers were suffered by man with an age range of 56-65 years. The most common use of anti-diabetic in Diabetes mellitus patients is bolus insulin and combination of bolus and basal insulin. Anti-diabetic with minimal cost or the most minimal cost are the cost of using bolus insulin at a cost of Rp 8.865.248,-. The antidiabetics combination of basal and bolus is more effective reducing blood sugar levels while 174,86 mg/dL with an average cost effectiveness ratio (ACER) value of Rp 57.199,22,-.

Abstract

Fragrant pandan and lemon contain linalool compounds as much as 6% in fragrant pandan and as much as 20-50% are found in lemons, linalool compounds are very useful for stabilizing nerves so that they can have a calming effect. This study aims to determine the characteristics, description of the respondent's blood pressure before and after being given aromatherapy, and the effect of giving pandanus and lemon aromatherapy on the blood pressure of hypertension respondents who live in the Sempaja Timur Village. The research method used is a quasi-experimental method with a one group pretest and posttest design with a total of 20 respondents. The research procedure uses initial and final measurements. The results showed that the characteristics of the highest hypertension respondents were female as many as 15 respondents( 75%), 10 respondents aged 60 years (50%), work as a housewife as many as 13 respondents (65%), and the antihypertensive drug consumed was amlodipine as much as 20 respondents ( 100%). The results of this study found that there was an effect of giving aromatherapy pandanus and lemon on systolic blood pressure before being given aromatherapy with an average of 162.6 mmHg and after being given aromatherapy an average of 156.4 mmHg while diastolic blood pressure before giving aromatherapy was on average by 99.6 mmHg and after being given aromatherapy an average of 94.4 mmHg. The results of the descriptive study of giving fragrant pandan and lemon aromatherapy are in line with the results of statistical analysis using the Wilcoxon test method and the paired sample t-test with a p value (0,000) <0.05. hypertension significantly.

Abstract

Traditionally, gelinggang leaves are widely used for treatment of various skin diseases. The potential of gelinggang leaves as a medicinal plant is expected due to the presence of secondary metabolite compounds that have activities, one of which can inhibit the growth of fungi and bacteria. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of gelinggang leaf extract against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria. The study began with extraction process of gelinggang leaves, phytochemical screening tests and testing of antibacterial activity from gelinggang leaf extracts carried out by the agar diffusion method using a well. Gelinggang leaf samples were macerated with 96% ethanol solvent and then tested for antibacterial activity in concentrations of 5%, 10%, and 15%. The results of the phytochemical screening test indicated that the gelinggang leaf extract was positive for flavonoids, saponins, phenolics, and terpenoids. On antibacterial activity test of the ethanolic extract of gelinggang leaves, it revealed that there was an inhibition activity for both Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli bacteria with the best activity at a concentration of 15%.

Abstract

The Jayapura city is one of the endemic areas of malaria in the province of Papua. The use of antimalarial medicine in hospitals has adjusted to a pattern of successful therapy in previous years. The study aims to know the pattern of antimalarial use in malarial patients at the jayapura hospital installation in January - December 2020. The method of research used is a non-experimental study with a descriptive design from the retrospective data that sources the data of the treatment records of malaria patients. Studies show that the age of 17-25 became the most common age to develop malaria by 38 patients (38%). The male group became dominant compared with the female population of 60 (60%). Students are the primary target of malaria with 38 patients (38%). Tropical malaria is the most common of 62 patients (62%). Combination of primaquine + artesunate therapy reaches (66%). For precise indications and precise intervals of time entering into the precision of the treatment of malaria with accuracy (100%) while for right the medicine has a percentage (92%) and the right dosage has a percentage (99%) so it can be maximized in the future.

Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a degenerative disease in the form of metabolic disorders characterized by increased blood glucose levels and impaired insulin metabolism. Yakon leaves and tea leaves contain phenolic compounds which have ?-glucosidase inhibiting activity. The aims of this study was to determine the inhibitory activity of the ?-glucosidase enzyme from tea leaf and yakon leaf extracts and the combination of the two plants. Extraction of the active compounds contained in tea leaves and yakon leaves was carried out by graded maceration method using n-hexane, ethyl acetate, 96% ethanol and water as solvents (using the decoction method). Phytochemical analysis of 96% ethanol extract of tea leaves and yakon leaves contained alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, triterpenoids/steroids and phenols. The results of testing the inhibitory activity of the -glucosidase enzyme showed that the IC50 values ??for 96% ethanol extract of tea leaves and yakon leaves were 22.31 and 19.70 ppm, respectively. Combination of 96% ethanol extract of tea leaves and yakon leaves in a ratio of 1:1; 1:3; 3:1 obtained IC50 of 64.73 ppm respectively; 7.34 ppm, and 11.03 ppm.

Abstract

Vaccination is an effective prevention of disease transmission and an obligation to ensure the availability of vaccines, especially during this COVID-19 pandemic where the availability of vaccines has an Emergency Use Approvel (EUA) permit so that further research is needed on the effects. This study aims to see the effect of using the COVID-19 vaccine on people in East Sebatik. The research design used was a prospective non-experimental method with data collection techniques, namely purposive sampling. The subjects of this study were 100 people who were vaccinated against COVID-19 stage 1 and stage 2 in East Sebatik, especially those carried out by the East Sebatik Health Center. The result of this research is that the majority of respondents based on gender characteristics are women as many as 68 respondents (68%). The majority of respondents based on age characteristics are in the adult age group (26-45 years) as many as 54 respondents (54%). The majority of respondents based on the characteristics of the history of the disease were non-complicated as many as 67 respondents (67%). COVID-19 vaccine is currently restricted to age ? 18 years. The majority respondents based on side effect after the COVID-19 vaccine dose 1 was pain in the area of the injection site, which was 39 respondents (39%). And the majority of respondents based on side effect after COVID-19 vaccine dose 2 were 17 respondents (17%).

Abstract

Self-medication is the process of self-medication by a person without using a prescription from a doctor. Self-medication is one of the many efforts made by the community in overcoming minor illnesses. One of the factors that can influence self-medication behavior is knowledge about self-medication. This study was conducted to determine the level of knowledge and behavior of self-medication in students at Mulawarman University. This type of research is an observational research qualitatively and quantitatively using an online questionnaire. Respondents obtained as many as 929 respondents. The results of the research on the characteristics of respondents obtained the highest percentage of age 21 years (36.7%), class of 2017 (46.8%), and female gender (77.5%). The results showed that 43.4% of respondents had good self-medication knowledge and 60% of respondents had good self-medication behavior. The results of statistical tests using the Spearman Rank method show that there is a significant relationship between the level of knowledge and self-medication behavior. The significance value (p) obtained is 0.000, with a correlation coefficient of 0.270 in the health faculty student group and 0.212 in the non-health faculty student group which shows the close relationship between the two variables is weak.

Abstract

Indonesia is a country with abundant natural wealth and almost all types of plants can grow in the territory of this country. One of them is oil palm leaf (Elaeis guineenis Jacq.) containing terpenoid compounds, steroids, alkaloids, flavonoids, glycosides, tannins and saponins and also this plant among the community has benefits that can be used for the treatment of skin infections. Purpose of this study was to determine the yield obtained as well as the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract of oil palm leaves. Oil palm leaves were extracted using 96% ethanol as solvents and using the maceration method. Testing the antioxidant activity of the ethanol extract of oil palm leaves was carried out using the DPPH method (2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl), where the absorbance was measured at max 515 nm using a UV-vis spectrophotometer. The results showed that the yield of oil palm leaf ethanol extract obtained as much as 5.44 % and obtained that the ethanolic extract of oil palm leaves had antioxidant activity against DPPH radicals with an IC50 value of 133.58 ppm. It could be concluded that the ethanolic extract of oil palm leaves (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) had antioxidant activity in the moderate category because the IC50 value was between 100- 150 ppm.

Abstract

Suruhan leaves empirically been used as medicine, because has an antioxidant activity that can counteract free radicals that cause various diseases. This study aimed to determine the antioxidant activity of instant powder drinks. This research method was carried out by filtering extract, test the characteristics and antioxidant activity of extracts, formulation and evaluation of instant powder drink used the foam mat drying method, and test the antioxidant activity of the preparations used the 1,1-Diphenyl-2picryl Hydrazyl (DPPH) method. The results showed that the extract of Suruhan Leaf contained alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, saponins, and polyphenols. The extract has a very strong IC50 of 8.8 ppm. The research used the 20% concentration of extract to be formulated as the instant powder drink. The results of the evaluation of physical properties showed that the formulation has green color, in powder form, odorless, pH 5,84, humidity 6,84%, ash content 0,49%, flow rate 3,98 g/s, angle of repose 25,22?, compressibility 26,07%, and dissolving time 68 seconds. Only some of the physical properties of powder have met the requirements of a good powder. IC50 of instant powdered drink preparation is 387,265 ppm, indicating that the preparations antioxidant activity is in the very weak category.
