Abstract

This study aims to analyze the implementation of character education through local wisdom-based habituation at TK Pertiwi Puro Pakualaman, Yogyakarta. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study involved the school principal, teachers, and students as primary subjects. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, then analyzed interactively through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that character value habituation is not merely a routine activity but a synthesis of daily behavioral ethics and Javanese philosophical values. The internalization of politeness, discipline, and responsibility is achieved through the systematic integration of local wisdom, such as the use of the Javanese Krama language, Karawitan art, and the teachings. These results suggest that utilizing local cultural instruments is effective in transforming normative behavior into deep-rooted character habituation in early childhood. The novelty of this research lies in the utilization of teachings as a specific foundation for character education, distinguishing it from general educational models. While effectively implemented, its success is still hindered by a lack of synchronization between school and home parenting patterns. The implication is that successful local wisdom-based character education requires a systemic synergy between school cultural values and parental involvement to ensure the sustainability of these values in the modern era.

Abstract

Early childhood education faces the challenge of inconsistent values between home and school in character development based on Religious and Moral Values. This study aims to describe the design of a parenting program, the implementation of collaboration between teachers and parents, and its impact on children’s character development at Saymara Kindergarten. The study employs a qualitative approach using an intrinsic case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, non-participant observation, and document analysis, and were then analyzed using an interactive model. The results indicate that a modularly designed NAM-based parenting program can strengthen the alignment of values between home and school, increase parental involvement, and foster children’s character development in the areas of social etiquette, regular religious practices, and independence. Implementation challenges were addressed through the use of digital communication and a personalized approach. This study concludes that structured NAM-based collaboration between teachers and parents is effective in supporting the sustainable character development of young children.

Abstract

Friendship in early childhood is a crucial aspect of personality formation as well as moral and social development. From an Islamic perspective, friendship is not merely viewed as a social relationship, but also as a means of instilling positive values such as honesty, empathy, compassion, and mutual respect. This article aims to examine the values of adab (ethical conduct) in early childhood friendship based on the teachings of the Qur’an and Hadith through a literature review approach. The findings indicate that the Qur’an and Hadith provide clear guidance on the importance of choosing good companions, maintaining fairness in social interactions, advising one another in goodness, and avoiding friendships that may lead to negative behavior. These values serve as a foundation for shaping children’s social character from an early age. Understanding the concept of friendship ethics in Islam is expected to assist educators and parents in fostering attitudes of respect, cooperation, and relationships grounded in faith and noble character. Thus, friendship in early childhood is not only a social experience but also an essential part of moral development aligned with the values of the Qur’an and Hadith.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of parental digital literacy in early childhood parenting in the technology era through systematic literature review, focusing on family psychology in Indonesia from 2019-2025. The PRISMA-guided method screened 97 articles from Google Scholar, Connected Paper, and Scispace using Braun & Clarke thematic analysis with 0.92 interrater reliability. Findings reveal parental digital literacy encompassing technological knowledge, risk awareness, and content supervision dominates adaptive parenting, reducing negative exposure by up to 70%, and supports children's cognitive-emotional development via hybrid conventional-digital approaches rooted in Islam. Key challenges include urban-rural digital divide and socio economic gaps, while benefits strengthen family bonds and resilience against technological disruptions.

Abstract

Inclusive education at the early childhood education (PAUD) level requires systematic screening and early assessment to identify children’s developmental needs from an early age. This study aims to analyze the implementation of early screening and assessment for young children at TK ABA Karangkajen, Yogyakarta, within the context of inclusive education services. The research employed a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation conducted in November 2025. The findings indicate three main results: (1) the institutional commitment to inclusive policies is strong; (2) early assessment practices are still limited by human resources and assessment instruments; and (3) parental involvement and follow‑up evaluation mechanisms have not yet been implemented in a structured and sustainable manner. Standardization of screening instruments, provision of supporting assessment facilities, and improved collaboration with parents are strategic steps to enhance the quality of early screening and assessment implementation in inclusive PAUD services.

Abstract

This study aims to examine teachers’ understanding of diagnostic, formative, and summative evaluation in early childhood education and its relationship with classroom assessment practices. The study is motivated by the gap between the ideal concept of learning evaluation and its implementation in early childhood education settings, which remains insufficiently integrated. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive design, conducted at RA Al Aziziyah Kismantoro and TK Kemala Bhayangkari 61 Pulung during the first semester of the 2025/2026 academic year. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom observations, and document analysis, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that teachers’ understanding of the three types of evaluation is uneven and demonstrates distinct characteristics. Diagnostic evaluation is conducted implicitly without systematic documentation, formative evaluation is implemented regularly but not optimally utilized for instructional improvement, while summative evaluation tends to focus on narrative reporting with limitations in objectivity. This study contributes to clarifying the gap between conceptual understanding and practical implementation of learning evaluation in early childhood education, while emphasizing the importance of systematically integrating diagnostic, formative, and summative evaluations. The implications highlight the need for strengthening teachers’ capacity, developing practical evaluation documentation systems, and providing institutional policy support to improve the quality of assessment practices in early childhood education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of implementing a structured play model based on the walking line activity in reducing learning distractions among children aged 3–4 years at KB Dewi Masyithoh I. The research employed a descriptive qualitative approach, with data collected through observations, teacher interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing The results show that the regular implementation of the walking line activity can reduce learning distraction behaviors among children aged 3–4 years. The decrease was observed in several indicators, including reduced running behavior inside the classroom, reduced talking outside the context of learning activities, and increased responsiveness of children to teacher instructions during the learning process. In addition, children demonstrated better ability to maintain focus and complete learning activities until the end. Therefore, the structured play model based on the walking line activity can be an effective learning strategy to help reduce learning distractions in early childhood when implemented consistently in classroom activities.

Abstract

Gross This study explores the limitations in gross motor stimulation variety, the influencing factors, and contextual alternative solutions across four early childhood education (ECE) institutions in Gresik Regency. Employing a qualitative multi-site case study approach, data were collected from 264 informants through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, documentation, and STPPA-based developmental assessments. Findings reveal that gross motor stimulation remains confined to walking and running, leaving balance, coordination, agility, and movement control understimulated. Contributing factors are multidimensional: internally, educators perceive gross motor activities as secondary and lack pedagogical training for structured physical activity design; externally, limited movement spaces and geographical conditions further constrain practice. Anticipatory strategies integrating six developmental domains and school-parent collaboration have been implemented, yet remain reactive. Three contextually proven solutions were identified: creative theme-based play to engage multidimensional movement; traditional games (jump rope, engklek) as culturally rich media proven to enhance agility and coordination; and Carpet Maze media that specifically stimulates static and dynamic balance in constrained spaces. As the first multi-site exploratory study at the district level, this research provides an empirical mapping of the gap between theory and gross motor stimulation practice, establishing a scientific foundation for developing more varied, contextual, and holistically child-oriented stimulation programs.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the impact of an environment without internet access on the emotional development of early childhood children who are accustomed to using digital devices. The focus of this research is children aged 4–6 years with a relatively high intensity of gadget use who are subsequently exposed to an environment with limited internet access. This study employs a qualitative approach using a library research design. Data were obtained through a review of various relevant literature sources, including books, scholarly journal articles, and previous studies related to early childhood emotional development, gadget use, and the impact of digital environments on children’s psychology. Data collection was conducted through documentation techniques, while data analysis utilized content analysis methods, involving data reduction, classification, interpretation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that, in the initial stage, children exhibit negative emotional responses such as frustration, boredom, and tantrums due to reduced access to digital media. However, over time, children demonstrate positive developmental changes, including increased social interaction, greater engagement in creative play activities, and improved emotional regulation. This study concludes that an environment without internet access can have a positive impact on children’s emotional development, particularly when supported by parental guidance and the provision of constructive alternative activities. Therefore, a balance between digital technology use and social interaction is essential in early childhood parenting.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and describe the integration of play-based Arabic language learning in developing early childhood linguistic competence. Early childhood education represents a critical period for language acquisition, where appropriate stimulation significantly influences children’s future language abilities. However, Arabic language instruction in early childhood settings often relies on conventional methods, such as rote memorization, which are less aligned with children’s developmental characteristics. Therefore, this study proposes a play-based learning approach as a more effective and child-centered alternative. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design conducted at Raudhatul Athfal Ibrahimy Sukorejo. The participants included teachers, the school principal, and children aged 5–6 years. Data were collected through participatory observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that play-based Arabic language learning is implemented through various activities such as songs, role-playing, storytelling, and the use of visual learning media. This approach creates a meaningful, interactive, and enjoyable learning environment that enhances children’s engagement. Furthermore, the results indicate that play-based learning contributes significantly to the development of linguistic competence, including phonological, morphological, syntactic, semantic, and pragmatic aspects. Children not only acquire vocabulary but also demonstrate the ability to use Arabic in simple communicative contexts. In conclusion, play-based Arabic language learning serves as an effective and holistic pedagogical model for early childhood education. It provides both theoretical and practical contributions to improving language teaching practices that are developmentally appropriate and contextually relevant.
