Abstract

The shift from traditional to modern harvesting methods has significantly impacted the labor structure of rural farmers. Traditional harvesting technologies, which actively engaged women, contrast with modern mechanized harvesting techniques that exclude women from harvesting activities. This study aims to analyze the development of harvesting technologies in Cikeusik Village and examine the effects of modernization on women’s roles, social positions, and power relations within the agrarian structure of Cikeusik Village. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews, observations, and document analysis for data collection. The informants consisted of six female farmers, two combine harvester operators, and two community leaders, selected purposively using snowball sampling techniques. The findings reveal three distinct phases of harvesting technology in Cikeusik: traditional harvesting using ani-ani (pre-1970), the transition from ani-ani to sickles and threshing (1980–2017), and the use of combine harvesters (2017–present). The introduction of combine harvesters drastically reduced women’s participation in harvesting activities, shifting a previously female-dominated labor force to a task performed exclusively by a few male operators. Consequently, women lost a source of seasonal income and transitioned primarily into entrepreneurship or conventional domestic roles.

Abstract

This study examines strategies for strengthening the capacity of Indonesia’s civil servants (Aparatur Sipil Negara, ASN) through a case study of the Regional Civil Service Agency (BKD) of Banten Province, using Skidmore’s (1995) Staff Processing Model as an analytical framework. Employing a qualitative case study design, data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document analysis, and analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive method. Findings show that BKD Banten applies capacity development strategies across Skidmore’s seven core components: recruitment, selection, placement and orientation, formal training, continuing professional development, evaluation and performance appraisal, and promotion, transition, and retention. Beyond these, the study identifies complementary strategies, including the digitalization of personnel management (e.g., e-Kinerja and SIMPEG), the adoption of talent management systems, fostering a culture of lifelong learning, providing psychosocial support during career transitions, and implementing recognition and retention programs for innovative staff. The study concludes that ASN capacity development is not merely an administrative procedure but a dynamic, evolving ecosystem that integrates policy, technology, and organizational culture. These findings expand Skidmore’s model by incorporating digital governance and psychosocial insights, offering both theoretical contributions and practical recommendations for designing merit-based and sustainable civil service reforms.

Abstract

Acute Respiratory Infection (ARI) is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality among children, particularly in developing countries such as Indonesia. Children are considered a vulnerable group, thus requiring a good understanding of how to prevent ARI. This study aimed to identify the relationship between knowledge level and preventive behavior toward ARI among students at SDN 017 Sekejati, Bandung City. The study employed a cross-sectional design with a total of 191 students from grades III to VI as respondents. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test and Cramér’s V. The Chi-Square test revealed a significant relationship between knowledge and ARI prevention behavior (χ² = 17.560; p < 0.001), with a Cramér’s V value of 0.3676, indicating a strong association. The findings conclude that the higher the students’ knowledge, the better their preventive actions against ARI. Continuous educational interventions are needed to enhance the effectiveness of health promotion efforts in elementary schools.

Abstract

This study examines the factors influencing Generation Z's attitudes toward environmentally friendly products and their implications for green consumer behavior, with a focus on reducing plastic waste in West Java, Indonesia. Through a Systematic Literature Review, this study analyzes recent scientific publications to identify patterns of relationships between environmental awareness, environmental knowledge, product availability, environmental policies, attitudes toward environmentally friendly products, and green consumer behavior. The review findings indicate that environmental awareness and knowledge play a fundamental role in shaping positive attitudes toward eco-friendly products. Product availability and effective environmental policies are crucial in bridging the gap between attitudes and behavior. While positive attitudes are a strong predictor of green consumer behavior, there remains a gap between attitudes and actual behavior. Digital technology and social media hold significant potential in influencing the attitudes and behavior of Generation Z. Cultural factors and geographical context also play a significant role. Implementation challenges such as price, convenience, and product availability remain major barriers. In conclusion, a holistic approach is needed that combines increased awareness, the provision of environmentally friendly products, effective policies, and the utilization of digital technology. Further research is required to explore effective strategies in specific contexts and address the attitude-behavior gap.

Abstract

The results of this scoping review prove that the quality of nurses' working life in the Emergency Department (ED) is influenced by various emotional, psychological, and structural factors that interact with one another. The levels of burnout and compassion fatigue detected are quite high, indicating significant physical and emotional stress in the ED work environment. However, the presence of compassion satisfaction and effective coping strategies serves as a protective factor that reduces the negative impact of workplace stress. Organizational elements such as management support, availability of resources, and supportive working conditions also play a crucial role in enhancing nurses' well-being. These findings emphasize the importance of structured organizational intervention strategies, training in coping strategies, and strengthening a positive work culture to improve nurses' work life in the ED, which ultimately will have a positive impact on the quality of care and patient safety.

Abstract

The increasingly widespread phenomenon of online bullying among adolescents raises concerns about the social and emotional development of the younger generation. Although various interventions have been implemented, efforts to reduce this negative behavior often fail to address the root cause, which is related to adolescents' psychosocial aspects. One important dimension of social intelligence believed to play a significant role in reducing digital bullying is empathy, especially in the context of online interactions. This study used a qualitative approach, collecting data from various literature sources, previous study findings, and in-depth analysis of narratives relevant to the research focus. This study aims to explore how the empathy dimension of social intelligence can contribute to reducing cyberbullying among adolescents. The results show that strengthening empathy can be an important foundation in shaping adolescents' social awareness in the digital space. Empathy has been shown to reduce the urge to engage in verbal and non-verbal aggression online and increase an individual's willingness to act as a mediator or advocate for victims. Fostering empathy through character education, meaningful social interactions, and empathetic communication training is a strategic step in creating a healthier and safer digital space for adolescents.

Abstract

This study analyzes sustainable tourism development in Pangandaran Regency from a policy network perspective. Tourism is an important economic sector that contributes significantly to the local economy, but also presents challenges in environmental and social aspects. The growth of the tourism sector in Indonesia, especially after the pandemic, has shown a significant contribution to national GDP. However, this growth is also accompanied by challenges in various aspects such as economic, environmental, and socio-cultural. Existing regulations such as the Regulation of the Minister of Tourism and the West Java Regional Regulation have established a framework for sustainable tourism development, but still need evaluation and review, especially in Pangandaran Regency which is highly dependent on the tourism sector. This study uses a descriptive-qualitative approach to explore the roles of actors in the policy network, including the government, private sector, local communities, and non-governmental organizations. The results show that cross-sector collaboration in the policy network contributes to tourism through supportive regulations, empowerment, and environmentally-based community development strategies. However, there are still challenges in coordination and integration policies that need to be addressed to improve the effectiveness of sustainable tourism management.

Abstract

Hospitals must continuously evolve in response to dynamic environments and rapidly changing demands. Digital transformation plays a pivotal role in reducing costs, increasing speed and transparency, and enhancing productivity and efficiency; however, it simultaneously introduces substantial organizational risks. Frameworks and tools are therefore essential to support organizations in navigating such profound transitions. Digital maturity assessment constitutes a critical preliminary stage for any digital transformation initiative, enabling both public and private healthcare institutions to determine their level of digital maturity and establish a foundation for subsequent transformation efforts. This study aims to identify and describe the dimensions applied in digital maturity assessments within hospitals. The research employed a systematic literature review of peer-reviewed publications from 2020 to 2024, examining maturity models designed to evaluate hospital digital maturity. A total of 29 relevant articles were reviewed, synthesizing 27 distinct maturity models. The articles were subjected to inductive analysis, through which the dimensions of maturity models were extracted and synthesized into a comprehensive digital maturity framework. The findings revealed a digital maturity framework consisting of seven dimensions: strategy, information technology capabilities, interoperability, governance and management, patient-centered care, human resource skills and behaviors, and data analytics. Each of these seven dimensions can be assessed through 24 specific indicators. The study concludes that the proposed digital maturity framework can serve as an evaluative tool for assessing hospital digital maturity and identifying critical areas for improvement.
