Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies offer transformative opportunities in educational settings, particularly for teachers who are preparing interactive learning materials for early childhood education (ECE). However, challenges persist in their implementation, such as limited teacher knowledge, infrastructure barriers, and ethical concerns. This study aims to enhance teachers' knowledge at TKIT Mekar Insani, Yogyakarta, by providing training through mini workshops and supporting resources, such as refurbished computers. The program involved 25 teachers and included pre- and post-training evaluations. Results indicate a significant increase in teachers' ability to use AI-based tools, demonstrated by the production of engaging learning materials and improved confidence in integrating technology into their pedagogy. This initiative highlights the importance of bridging technology gaps in educational institutions and fostering continuous professional development.

Abstract

The low level of financial literacy in Indonesia, with a rate of only 38.03%, is a challenge in managing family finances, especially among homemakers. Homemakers who are members of the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) have great potential to be empowered. Still, most do not yet understand stock investment as an alternative for long-term financial management. This program is designed to improve the financial literacy of PKK mothers through stock investment education to help them manage family finances more effectively and sustainably. The solution implemented involves community-based education with a participatory approach. The implementation method includes interactive training, stock investment simulations using a digital platform, and real-world practice assistance. This program is implemented for three months in three stages: basic education, simulation, and direct application. The results showed a significant increase in participant understanding, from 20% who understood the basic concept of stock investment before training to 85% after training. As many as 70% of participants started real investments with small funds. In addition, this program forms stock study groups, increases self-confidence, and creates an investment culture in the community. This program provides innovative solutions to empower local communities and improve family welfare through better financial literacy.

Abstract

The potential of plastic waste in Singaparna District, Tasikmalaya Regency, based on field observations, can reach up to 10 tons per month, with its utilization not yet optimal. The plastic waste collected at the Tasikmalaya Waste Bank (BST) typically consists of intact plastic bottles and cups. In addition to being used for handicrafts, the BST group sells it directly to plastic recycling factories at a price of IDR 8,000 per kg. According to their calculations, this price does not cover the operational costs of BST. Meanwhile, the price of plastic that has been shredded into granules can reach up to IDR 14,000 per kg. The Agricultural Tools and Machines Laboratory of the Department of Agricultural Engineering and Industrial Management at Padjadjaran University has developed a plastic shredding machine capable of reducing plastic to the smallest size with a sieve diameter of 14 mm, with a machine capacity of 30 kg/hour, which is expected to assist in addressing issues faced by the partners. The goal of this PKM (Community Service Program) activity is to assist the BST Tasikmalaya group in utilizing plastic waste, either as raw material for handicrafts or to be sold directly in the form of plastic granules. The implementation method for this activity includes the application of appropriate technology, specifically a plastic shredding machine in Singaparna District, Tasikmalaya Regency, which covers the production of the shredding machine, the application of the machine, socialization through lectures on utilizing plastic as a recyclable product to address waste problems, guidance and training on operating the plastic shredding machine, and maintenance procedures for the machine.

Abstract

Postpartum blues, also known as baby blues, is a common emotional condition experienced by mothers after childbirth. If not properly addressed, it can significantly affect the mother's mental health and overall family well-being. Limited awareness of postpartum blues, particularly in Nambo Village, Kendari City, has driven the implementation of this community service initiative. The objective was to improve pregnant women’s understanding of the symptoms, causes, as well as strategies to manage and prevent postpartum blues. The activity was conducted on Saturday, November 2, 2024, at the Nambo Village Hall, involving a team of lecturers from the Faculty of Medicine, Halu Oleo University. The methods used included interactive counseling, group discussions, simulations, and the distribution of educational materials. A total of 25 pregnant women participated in the program. Evaluation was carried out using pre-test and post-test assessments to measure the increase in participants' knowledge. Results indicated an 85% improvement in participants' understanding after the counseling session. This initiative successfully raised awareness and enhanced the understanding of pregnant women about postpartum blues, while also encouraging openness in discussing mental health issues. The intervention demonstrated that community-based education can serve as a strategic approach to improving maternal and family health quality. Moving forward, follow-up programs are needed to strengthen and sustain the positive impacts achieved through this activity.

Abstract

Aging is a natural process experienced by all living beings, including humans. As people age, they often experience a decline in cognitive and physiological functions. This decline increases the risk of degenerative diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer, which can significantly impact the quality of life and productivity of the elderly. The concept of the Seven Dimensions of Resilient Elderly serves as a framework to enhance the quality of life and promote more productive living for the elderly. By implementing the Seven Dimensions of Resilient Elderly, the quality of life for older adults can be significantly enhanced, enabling them to lead more productive lives. The objective of this community service initiative is to mentor the volunteers of the Elderly Family Development Group, known as "Bina Keluarga Lansia Mawar (BKL Mawar)” in Lamper Krajan as they prepare to participate in the city-wide competition in Semarang. However, the program faced challenges, including the volunteers' limited understanding of the Seven Dimensions of Resilient Elderly and low levels of community participation in activities organized by BKL Mawar RW 02. The mentoring activities were conducted between April and May 2024, beginning with an analysis of existing issues and discussions to identify priority activities. Subsequent mentoring sessions focused on the practical implementation of the Seven Dimensions of Resilient Elderly within BKL Mawar's programs. The program's outcomes demonstrated significant improvements in the volunteers' understanding of the Seven Dimensions of Resilient Elderly and their application in activities. This enhanced understanding contributed to improving the quality of life for the elderly in RW 02 Lamper Krajan, Lamper Lor, South Semarang, and increased the group's overall preparedness for the competition.

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) play a critical role in bolstering Indonesia’s economy. Efficient business management in these business typically encompasses four main areas: Human Resources, Operations, Marketing, and Finance. In Bantul, the SMEs within the Kusuka Ubiku community face significant challenges in effective marketing due to limited resources and expertise in copywriting. To address this, our program offers assistance in implementing generative AI technology to enhance copywriting skills. The initiative is structured in three phases: 1) Problem Identification, where the specific marketing hurdles are assessed; 2)  Assistance in Developing a Copywriting, which involves practical sessions on using generative AI tools; and 3) Evaluation and Feedback, to measure improvements in marketing outreach and effectiveness. The outcome of this assistance is a set of SMEs equipped with advanced copywriting tools and techniques, enabling them to produce market-relevant copywriting, expand their reach, and enhance brand recognition. The initiative not only aims to provide technical skills but also seeks to foster innovation, ultimately contributing to the sustainable growth of local businesses. Through this program, we anticipate a transformative impact on the marketing capabilities of SMEs in the region.
