Abstract

This study explores the health benefits of goat milk as referenced in Hadith, using Kedai Durian Village in the Deli Tua District as a case study. Employing a qualitative research design, data were collected through in-depth interviews with members of the local community and a comprehensive literature review of Hadith texts pertaining to goat milk. The findings indicate that goat milk contributes positively to human health by enhancing immune function, supporting digestive health, and promoting nutritional balance. Furthermore, residents of Kedai Durian Village who regularly consume goat milk demonstrated a growing awareness of the importance of aligning dietary practices with Islamic teachings. Notably, improvements in health outcomes were observed, with cases of dengue fever (DBD), tuberculosis (TB), gastric ulcers, and high fever reportedly responding positively to the routine intake of goat milk. Based on these findings, the study recommends the broader promotion of goat milk consumption as a means to support public health in accordance with Islamic dietary principles.

Abstract

This study examines the prohibition of same-clan marriage among the Mandailing community in Simangambat Village, North Padang Lawas. Traditionally, marrying within the same clan is forbidden, as clans are believed to share bloodlines, making such unions taboo and akin to incest. This custom aims to maintain social harmony but lacks a basis in Islamic law. Islam prohibits marriage only between mahram (close blood relatives), and same-clan marriages are not explicitly forbidden if the individuals are not mahram. Using qualitative methods, including interviews and observations with community and religious leaders, the study found that while many still uphold the tradition, awareness is growing that it conflicts with Islamic teachings. Some religious leaders emphasize prioritizing Islamic law over local customs. The research concludes that the prohibition is cultural rather than religious and that increasing awareness is leading the community to reconsider the tradition, emphasizing the need to align local customs with Islamic principles in marriage decisions.

Abstract

This article examines the role of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the architect of a multicultural nation through a study of the Medina Charter and hadiths on equality and tolerance, as well as a reflection of these values in the context of Indonesian nationality. The Medina Charter, formulated by the Prophet, demonstrates an inclusive political approach, recognizing ethnic and religious diversity, and establishing a social governance based on equality and justice. Similarly, the Prophet's hadiths emphasize universal values such as human equality, protection of minorities, and respect for the rights of non-Muslim citizens. In the context of Indonesia as a pluralistic nation, the principles contained in the Medina Charter and the Prophet's hadiths are highly relevant. Reflection on these values can inspire strengthening national spirit, interfaith tolerance, and building a peaceful multicultural society. This research uses a qualitative-descriptive approach with textual analysis and a literature review of historical documents and classical Islamic sources. In conclusion, the values established by the Prophet Muhammad SAW through the Medina Charter and social hadiths can be used as a normative model in strengthening Indonesia's diversity and upholding the principles of justice and unity.

Abstract

This study aims to examine Wahbah az-Zuhaili's interpretation in Tafsir Al-Wajiz on QS. Ath-Thāriq:1-3 and integrate it with the perspective of modern astronomy. The phenomenon of "knocking stars" in the verse is analysed as a cosmic symbol that has empirical relevance to celestial objects such as pulsars and neutron stars. This research approach is qualitative with descriptive-analytical and interpretative-hermeneutical methods, and uses a phenomenological and narrative study framework. Data were collected through library research and documentation of religious (tafsir) and scientific (astronomy) texts. The main findings of the study show that Ath-Thāriq and an-najmu ats-tsāqib semantically and symbolically have convergence of meaning with the cosmic radiation characteristics of pulsars. The integration between tafsir and astronomy shows that the Qur'ān provides space for scientific interpretation without ignoring spiritual and contextual values. This research contributes to strengthening the thematic-kauniyah interpretation paradigm and opens up the possibility of interdisciplinary collaboration between interpretation scholars and scientists. The implications of the findings include the development of an integrative tafsir methodology in Islamic higher education and encouraging the active involvement of Muslims in the dialogue between science and revelation. Future research is suggested to utilise digital linguistic technology and corpus approach in semantic analysis of the Qur'an.

Abstract

This study examines the ritual practice of reciting Surah al-Wāqi‘ah and Rātib al-Ḥaddād at the LSQ Ar-Rohmah Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta through the lens of the Living Qur’an approach and Peter L. Berger’s sociology of knowledge. The research aims to uncover the processes of transmission and transformation of these two ritual texts in shaping the religious habitus of student pesantren communities, while also exploring how the rituals are meaningfully interpreted by their practitioners. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and analyzed using the Miles & Huberman interactive model. The findings indicate that the recitation of Surah al-Wāqi‘ah is perceived as a means of cultivating work ethics and economic optimism (ḥifẓ al-māl), while Rātib al-Ḥaddād is regarded as a spiritual tool for purification of the heart (tazkiyah al-nafs). Both practices have been institutionalized into the pesantren’s daily routine and are collectively received by the students, both cognitively and affectively. Furthermore, from a sociological perspective, these practices are not merely devotional acts, but also socially constructed meanings that integrate spirituality, symbolism, and Islamic pedagogy. This study demonstrates that Qur’anic and liturgical texts are enlivened within social spaces through the internalization of values transmitted by religious authorities and shared communal practice.

Abstract

This study examines the principles and optimization patterns of Project-Based Learning (PjBL) derived from the story of Dzulqarnain in Surah Al-Kahf [18]: 94–98 and explores its relevance to the concept of Islamic education. The primary focus is on how Qur’anic values embedded in this narrative serve as the foundation for developing the PjBL concept within Islamic education. To conduct a comprehensive examination of the verses, this research employs a literature study method with a thematic exegesis approach, utilizing primary data sources from classical and contemporary Qur’anic commentaries, including Tafsir Al-Mishbah, Tafsir Ibn Kathir, Tafsir Fathul Qadir, Tafsir As-Sa’di, and Tafsir Al-Tabari, as well as secondary data from relevant scholarly books and journal articles. The findings reveal a significant alignment between the educational concepts and values in the Qur’an and the principles and optimization patterns of PjBL. These include real-world action and practice, contextual learning, consultation (shura), cooperation and collaboration, creativity and problem-solving, responsibility, visionary and adaptive thinking, independence, and holistic learning. Moreover, the verses emphasize the integration of tawhid values into the learning process, thereby positioning PjBL as relevant to the aims of Islamic education.

Abstract

Humans are created with diverse dispositions, but understanding this diversity often leads to stereotypes or unconstructive comparisons. This study analyzes Aisyah Dahlan's classification of human dispositions and compares it with modern psychological perspectives and Qur'anic values. Using a qualitative method based on literature study and digital content observation, this study identifies four types of dispositions: Sanguinis (cheerful), Choleric (organizing), Phlegmatic (peaceful), and Melancholic (thinker), which are linked to the verse QS. Ash-Shams: 8-9 about the potential for human wickedness and piety. The main findings reveal that Aisyah Dahlan's approach provides a distinctive integration of classical psychology (Hippocrates' temperament model), neuroscience (frontal lobe function), and Islamic spirituality, addressing a gap in the secularized Western psychology model. This study contributes to providing a conceptual framework that is religiously and scientifically relevant in understanding and positively directing human dispositions. The results of this study are expected to be helpful in the practice of character education, parenting, family development, and the self-healing process.

Abstract

Murājaʻah is one of the essential principles in maintaining Quran memorization, emphasized in numerous Prophetic traditions. The background to this study arises from the phenomenon of weakening memory of Quran memorizers after memorization due to a lack of consistent murājaʻah. This study aims to analyze thematic hadiths on murājaʻah, explore its urgency as a moral and spiritual obligation, and examine its correlation with modern theories of memory psychology. This study uses a qualitative-descriptive method with thematic analysis techniques on relevant hadiths. The results show that murājaʻah is a form of ongoing worship, a reflection of spiritual responsibility to revelation, and an indicator of closeness to God. Murājaʻah also plays a crucial role in maintaining the sanad (chain of transmission) and the authenticity of memorization, and distinguishes between memorizers and ordinary readers. Its correlation with the psychology of memory demonstrates that the principle of murājaʻah aligns with scientific methods for strengthening long-term memory. The main findings of this study underscore that murājaʻah is not only a religious need, but also a cognitive one that must be systematically managed in contemporary tahfiz education.

Abstract

This article discusses the misinterpretation of laduni knowledge in society, which often contradicts the teachings of the Qur’an, thereby potentially causing confusion, misguidance, and even polytheism. Using a qualitative method with a philosophical approach and library research to analyze the epistemological construction of esoteric knowledge from the perspective of three prominent Sufi figures: Al-Ghazali, Abdul Qadir Al-Jailani, and Najmuddin al-Kubro. The research findings indicate that all three figures agree that laduni knowledge is a divine gift granted to servants whose hearts and souls have been purified, not instant or magical knowledge. However, they have different methodological emphases. Al-Ghazali emphasizes three stages: seeking knowledge earnestly, riyadhah and muraqabah, and tafakkur. Al-Jailani focuses on three phases of self-purification: takhalli, tahalli, and tajalli. Meanwhile, Najmuddin al-Kubro divides the spiritual journey into three maqam: syariat, tarekat, and hakikat. This article concludes that deviations occur when laduni knowledge is separated from the proper epistemological framework and rigorous spiritual process. To prevent misuse, a comprehensive understanding based on the Qur’an and guidance from competent scholars is necessary. The key formula for attaining laduni knowledge is to cultivate love for Allah through devotion (khidmat) to the spiritual guide (mursyid) and seeking his approval.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the quality of the chain of narrators (isnad) in Sahih Muslim by conducting an isnad critique on the hadith about the ten natural dispositions (fitrah) of human beings. The research method used in this paper is library research, which involves utilizing books as sources for data collection, as well as applying the method of takhrij al-hadith to trace the hadith. The findings and discussion in this study reveal that one narrator in Muslim’s transmission chain was identified as having memory issues. However, the narrator's weak memory does not affect their integrity in transmitting the hadith. Based on the research conducted, the author concludes that the isnad of the hadith narrated by Muslim regarding the ten natural dispositions of human beings is classified as ḥasan li gairihi (good due to corroborating evidence). This study recommends that academics further develop isnad critique research on narrations in Sahih Muslim.
