Abstract

This research aims to describe the form and function of expressive speech acts in Watch videos on Facebook social media. This type of research is qualitative research. Data collection in this research uses listening and note-taking techniques. The results revealed that the form of speech acts on Watch videos on Facebook are literal direct speech acts, literal indirect speech acts, non-literal direct speech acts and non-literal indirect speech acts. The functions of expressive speech acts used in Watch videos on Facebook social media are criticising, blaming, praising, thanking, apologising, congratulating, and condoling. The use of various expressive speech act functions in Watch videos on Facebook is used to express the speaker's feelings. The function of criticising, blaming is intended as a form of dislike for something. The function of praising, thanking, congratulating and expressing condolences is intended as a form of good response from the speaker to what is seen, heard or felt. While the function of apologising is intended as a sense of regret of the speaker for what he did, the function of apologising speech is mostly spoken by women and men as a form of regret for the mistakes made.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the ability of speech before using independent learning model, the ability after using independent learning model, and the effect of using independent learning model on students' speech ability. The method used in this research is quantitative method, the research design used is One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The population in this study was Class IX students of SMP Negeri 15 Bulukumba, totaling 37 students. The sampling used was using purposive sampling technique. The sample in this study amounted to 19 students. The data collection technique in this study was speech task. The collected data were analyzed with descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of data analysis show that the use of independent learning models can affect students' speech skills. The results of hypothesis testing showed that the sig value. 0.038 <0.05 so that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, namely there is an effect of the use of independent learning models on students' speech skills.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the forms and variations of humor language in Opera Van Java and to analyze the variations of humor language in the show. This research uses a qualitative descriptive method. The data for this study consists of dialogues between the actors containing utterances that include humorous elements, spoken in Opera Van Java. The techniques used in this study include observation, documentation, as well as the listening and note-taking technique. The data analysis involves data presentation, data reduction, and then drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that the forms of humor in Opera Van Java are: one-liner humor, two-line humor, dialogue humor, topic sentence humor, malapropism humor, and wordplay humor. Meanwhile, the variations of humor language in Opera Van Java include personal humor, social humor, physical humor, and graphic humor.

Abstract

This study aims to describe: (1) the use of declarative speech acts in hate speech cases on Twitter social media. (2) describe the use of interrogative speech acts in cases of hate speech on Twitter social media. (3) describe the use of imperative speech acts in cases of hate speech on social media Twitter. This study uses a type of qualitative research with descriptive analysis. This study describes the use of declarative, interrogative, imperative speech acts in cases of hate speech on Twitter social media. Data collection techniques are carried out by capturing all the data and information needed by observing and capturing data, making the results of the analysis. This study uses research instruments, namely: the researcher acts as the main instrument and supporting instruments in the form of gadgets, laptops, and stationery. The results of the study reveal that in @dinadianne's uploads there are comments on the use of declarative speech acts in hate speech in this study in the form of words, phrases and sentences. The use of interrogative speech acts in the form of sentences. The use of imperative speech acts in the form of sentences.

Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the forms of euphemism in the COVID-19 news articles of Harian Fajar Makassar; and (2) describe the functions of euphemism in the COVID-19 news articles of Harian Fajar Makassar. The data for this research consists of excerpts from news texts in the form of words, phrases, clauses, and sentences containing euphemisms in the COVID-19 news articles of Harian Fajar Makassar. The data collection techniques used are the listening technique, the note-taking technique, and the documentation technique. Data analysis is carried out by analyzing the data, presenting the data, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show that (1) the forms of euphemism found in the COVID-19 news articles of Harian Fajar Makassar include abbreviations, loanwords, foreign terms, periphrasis, and metaphors. (2) The functions of euphemism found in the COVID-19 news articles of Harian Fajar Makassar include functions of politeness and comfort, functions of meaning concealment, the religious term function "Complying with Religious Procedures", and the function of avoiding bad outcomes.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the representation of women in social media memes through the lens of Simone de Beauvoir’s existentialist feminism. In the digital context, memes function not only as entertainment but also as a medium for disseminating ideology also gender stereotypes that often disadvantage women. This study employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The material objects are memes circulating on social media, while the formal object is Beauvoir's feminist concept that positions women as autonomous subjects rather than "the Other." The analysis focuses on visual and textual elements within memes to uncover the forms of gender stereotypes being reproduced. The findings reveal that women are frequently represented in subordinate roles, tied to domestic responsibilities, and judged based on unfair patriarchal standards. These representations reinforce male dominance and constrain women's freedom as independent subjects. The results highlight the need for critical awareness in consuming and producing digital content, as well as the importance of deconstructing gender stereotypes within digital popular culture.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mendiskripsikan tentang sistem kode dalam Sinrilinak Kappalak Tallumbatua menggunakan teori semiotika Roland Barthes. Dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik baca, dan teknik catat. Hasil penelitian ini adalah menemukan beberapa kode dalam Sinrilik Kappalak Tallumbatua yaitu, kode hermeneutik merupakan kode teka-teki. Terdapat dalam kode Hermeneutik mengenai "akan tetapi ada sesuatu yang tidak aku miliki dan selalu kucari-cari. Oleh karena itu engkau hubungi semua bate salapang gowa". Kode proaretik menemukan yaitu “Setelah mendengar perintah tersebut, ia pun berdiri dan kemu- dian minta diri kepada Karaeng Tunisombaya dan langsung turun ke tangga istana. Berjalanlah ia hingga menyeberangi muara sungai Tallo, kemudian melintasi Parangloe, kampung Untia, dan akhirnya tiba di kampung Lempangang”. Kode Gnonik yang terdapat pada Sinrilikna Kappalak Tallumbatua, “Niak tong pole sagantuju tau rungka ri dallekanna, siagang sagantuju pagaduk sangnging tau rungka ngaseng”. Terdapat pula delapan orang pemberani di hadapannya, dan delapan orang pagaduk yang semuanya terdiri atas pemuda remaja”. Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini ialah untuk menganalisis gaya bahasa dalam novel Tentang Kita karya Wiwik Waluyo, Langkah-langkah penelitian yang dilakukan adalah mengindentifikasi data dengan membaca novel Tentang Kita, Penelitian ini mengkaji jenis-jenis gaya bahasa apa saja yang terdapat dalam novel tersebut. Hasil analisis gaya bahasa novel Tentang Kita karya Wiwik Waluyo diantaranya gaya Bahasa yang berfokus pada penggunaan diksi, majas, dan struktur naratif yang membentuk makna dan suasana dalam karya tersebut. Dalam analisis ini, teori-teori sastra seperti teori gaya bahasa (stylistics), diksi, majas, ekspresionisme, digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi bagaimana elemen-elemen bahasa membangun perasaan, konflik, dan karakter dalam cerita. Melalui pemilihan diksi yang tepat, penggunaan metafora dan simile, serta penataan narasi yang penuh intensitas emosional, novel ini mengajak pembaca untuk merenung lebih dalam tentang hubungan antar manusia dan pencarian makna dalam hidup. Dengan demikian, gaya bahasa dalam novel Tentang Kita tidak hanya berfungsi sebagai sarana untuk menyampaikan cerita, tetapi juga sebagai alat ekspresif untuk menggali dimensi emosional dan filosofis yang kompleks dalam kehidupan manusia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the form of speech acts and implicit meaning in the comments of @memeunivrse account users that contain social criticism content. The approach used is qualitative with descriptive-analytical method. Data were obtained through observation and documentation of comments on several @memeunivrse account uploads. The analysis technique used refers to the theory of pragmatics, especially speech acts and implicatures developed by Austin and Searle. The results of the analysis show that netizen comments contain hidden meanings in the form of social criticism of various phenomena such as moral crisis, weak public services, and degradation of cultural values. Comments are delivered in the form of expressive, assertive, and subtle insinuations. This finding shows that social media has become an important medium for people to convey criticism indirectly through clever and meaningful linguistic strategies.

Abstract

Dalam masyarakat Bugis, ritus Mappacci memiliki kedudukan penting sebagai bagian tak terpisahkan dari rangkaian prosesi pernikahan. Mappacci tidak hanya dimaknai sebagai seremoni adat, melainkan juga sebagai simbol spiritualitas, ikatan sosial, dan internalisasi nilai-nilai moral dalam kehidupan masyarakat Bugis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengeksplorasi nilai-nilai budaya yang terkandung dalam ritus Mappacci pada tradisi pernikahan masyarakat Bugis. Dengan pendekatan kualitatif melalui observasi partisipatif dan wawancara mendalam, ditemukan bahwa Mappacci bukan sekadar praktik adat menjelang pernikahan, melainkan ekspresi simbolik yang merepresentasikan nilai-nilai sosial, spiritual, dan moral. Prosesi ini mencakup tahapan persiapan, pelaksanaan, serta pemberian doa dan restu, yang diwarnai dengan simbol-simbol bermakna seperti daun pacar, air suci, sirih-pinang, dan doa adat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Mappacci mengandung nilai kesucian, kebersamaan, penghormatan terhadap leluhur, tanggung jawab sosial dan spiritual dalam membentuk ikatan pernikahan. Di tengah arus modernisasi, ritus ini mengalami penyesuaian teknis, namun nilai-nilai inti tetap dipertahankan. Masyarakat Bugis juga aktif melakukan pelestarian dan revitalisasi tradisi melalui pendidikan budaya dan media digital sampai saat ini.
