Abstract

Abstract Palembang is famous for not only songket clothes but also specific food such as pempek and mie celor (stemmed noodles). Many Small Micro Medium Enterprises (SMMEs) need coaching in order to succeed in their busines. They do not have sufficient financing sources and strategies to grow and face fierce business competition. One of necessary assistances is helping them improve their packaging and develop persuasive advertisements through social media promotion. The two SMMEs, Pempek Cek Eha and Mie Celor Ujuk Imam 26, are located in Kecamatan Ilir Barat I Palembang. This community service activity was carried out to help fostered the SMMEs to survive in their current situation through product packaging and online advertisement development. Good product packaging can be used for online advertising activities, which are expected to increase sales during the pandemic. Their previous packaging seemed to be careless and unattractive. Their promotions and sales were managed conventionally through direct face to face and limited online transactions, as well as from personal information, so that the orders had not been maximized. The educative program was conducted through counselling and couching the SMMEs. Data from pretest and posttest showed positive effects of the program. Keywords: promotion, advertisement, persuasive, packaging, culinary.

Abstract

The problems faced by two private schools that have almost the same characteristics, namely SDK Girisonta and SDK Genuk, are implementing distance learning and limited face-to-face learning during the COVID-19 pandemic and preparing AKM (minimum competency assessment) including literacy and numeracy skills. The solution to overcome these problems is blended learning training and mentoring centered on literacy and numeracy skills. The method of implementing the Participatory Action and Learning System method includes awareness, capacity building, mentoring and institutionalization. Teachers' knowledge of blended learning, literacy and numeracy reaches 78 in the good category so they are ready to plan and implement. Learning tools with blended learning and focusing on literacy and numeracy, teachers design and implement them in the classroom during distance learning. Reflection on the results of implementation assistance shows that it is very successful in blended learning (92%), successful in focusing on literacy (81%) and less successful in focusing on numeracy (47%). The suggestion from this community service activity is that the success of blended learning is influenced by the readiness of schools, teachers, parents and students, so good communication and awareness of all parties are needed. Through a variety of electronic learning resources and online games that focus on literacy and numeracy, students accompanied by teachers and parents can learn optimally to develop their potential.

Abstract

Pasaman District is in West Pasaman Regency, along the coast of West Sumatra at 000°05' NL – 00°03′ SL and 99°38′ – 100° 58′ EL which is adjacent to the Mentawai subduction so that this area is vulnerable to earthquakes, as happened in 2009 which caused 9108 houses to be damaged. Extensive number of damaged houses was caused by the low strength of non-engineered building. Under the threat of Mega-Earthquake from the Mentawai fault, the low capacity of community houses against earthquake forces can be a threat to the community. This Community Partnership Program (PKM) offers a solution to reduce the risk of damage to houses in Pasaman District through training in the strengthening techniques using polypropylene fiber mortar. Based on observations in the field, generally people's houses in Pasaman District have walls made of red brick. Taking into account the technical ease of implementation, affordability of costs, availability of local materials, transfer of knowledge and the application of retrofitting techniques owned by the Department of Civil Engineering, Padang State University, the reinforcement technique for brick walls with Polypropylene Fiber Mortar Plaster will be used. The training was able to increase the community's understanding of house strengthening by up to 85%, which was previously 45.4%.

Abstract

The Walasoji Shredded Fish (AIW) Business Community was located in Rappang Village, Panca Rijang District, Sidenreng Rappang Regency, South Sulawesi, started its activities in 2012. The partner community is a home industry, initially having around eight members, but now there are only three people. In the shredded production process, partners still use traditional tools, partners cannot determine the exact profit, the packaging of shredded products is still simple without a brand, without a health department permit number, and without a halal certificate from MUI. The problems faced by partners are: how to improve the quality and production capacity, how to know the profit for sure, how to increase the market share of shredded walasoji fish. Based on the problems above, the solution is to improve production methods and processes using machines, provide training and counseling on management, as well as a simple accounting bookkeeping system, assist in branding and packaging equipment, assist in obtaining permits from the health department, and MUI halal certificates. Through this PKM, it is hoped that the capacity and quality of AIW produced by partners will increase, and can be marketed through markets, shops, supermarkets and supermarkets. The methods that will be applied are assistance with production equipment, and packaging, training and counseling on management, and a simple accounting system, assisting in obtaining permits from the health department, and MUI halal certificates. The output targets to be achieved in this activity are scientific publications in national journals or proceedings of national seminars, and published in print or online mass media. With the publication, it is targeted that AIW, which is only known in Rappang, can be widely known, both regionally and nationally after this PKM is implemented.

Abstract

Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) has long been known to have a lot of potential as herbal medicine for various diseases. Various studies have been conducted to find the best method for producing VCO. The use of heating techniques and the addition of various chemicals in the manufacture of VCO can have an impact on changing the quality of the VCO produced. Therefore, in this activity, training was carried out on the manufacture of herbal medicinal preparations based on VCO without heating and additional chemicals. The method uses a fermentation technique with coconut milk as raw material. The training was given on Saturday-Sunday, 18-19 September 2021 at the PKK Group RT 06 RW 05 Banjaran Pucung Village, Cilangkap, Tapos, Depok City. Making VCO using 20 coconuts, not peeled, squeezed with a squeezing machine. During the squeezing process, 2 liters of coconut water are added. The juice of 10 liters of thick coconut milk is used as an ingredient for making VCO. Coconut milk is then fermented by adding 1 liter of coconut water, tightly closed, and allowed to stand for 24 hours. VCO oil obtained through the filtering process can be used as a basic ingredient for herbal medicines directly or used as a solvent to add other herbal extracts. This training is expected to increase the knowledge and skills of housewives. The manufacture of herbal medicines based on VCO can be developed into a small household-level business that can be a source of additional income for the family.

Abstract

Catfish is one of the favorite foods of some Acehnese people, including for lhokseumawe region, and surrounding areas. This is what makes the community interested in cultivating catfish, in addition to the selling price is quite expensive as well as the demand for catfish that increases every year. To meet the increasing demand catfish breeders need the right feed to increase the growth rate of fish. This feed is a problem for farmers in the Lhokseumawe region because of the high price. The industry knows around Lhokseumawe quite a lot but industrial waste knows not to be utilized properly. Tofu waste in the form of tofu pulp can be used as catfish animal feed. The purpose of this devotional activity is to provide education and training to the community and catfish farmers in order to utilize industrial waste tofu as an alternative feed so as to solve the problem of too high feed prices. This devotional activity is carried out by providing counseling and technical guidance to the community so that it can make feed independently. Feed results showed the feed was able to float for 30-50 seconds and the fish showed interest in the feed. The cost aspect is known that the use of feed from tofu waste can reduce the cost of feed up to 50% with the calculation of the cost of the manufacturer's feed is Rp 18,000 / kg and feed from tofu pulp has a selling value of Rp 9,000, so the savings that occur are quite significant.
