Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of financial management in long-term investment decision-making through a literature review of various related studies. The main focus of this study is the impact of risk, the application of the time value of money, investment diversification, agency problems, and investment project feasibility evaluation techniques such as Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR). The literature review findings demonstrate that high risk influences investment decisions owing to the unpredictability of future cash flows, necessitating risk mitigation strategies like portfolio diversification and the utilization of derivative instruments. Applying the concept of the time value of money (TVM) is crucial in investment evaluation to facilitate more rational and profitable decisions, considering inflation and discount rates. Diversification of investments has demonstrated efficacy in mitigating volatility and enhancing long-term investment outcomes. Agency problems, which arise from conflicts of interest between owners and managers, also affect the quality of investment decisions, which can be overcome by designing incentives that align with the company's long-term goals. Evaluating the feasibility of investment projects using NPV and IRR helps ensure that the investments can add significant value to the company. This research provides important insights into how good financial management can support more effective and sustainable investment decision-making

Abstract

This study examines the democratization of intelligence oversight in Indonesia, emphasizing the need for robust accountability frameworks within its intelligence sector. While established democracies employ comprehensive oversight structures that include legislative, judicial, and independent bodies, Indonesia's current framework remains underdeveloped, constrained by historical, political, and institutional factors. The study explores Indonesia's oversight mechanisms compared to models from mature democracies such as those in Denmark, the United States, and Germany, where parliamentary committees, independent agencies, and judicial reviews collectively ensure transparency and mitigate abuse of power. Findings reveal that Indonesia's primary oversight challenges stem from limited legislative authority, insufficient judicial engagement, and a need for more independent oversight bodies. Additionally, limited public participation, including civil society and media, further hinders transparency. To enhance democratic intelligence oversight, this paper suggests reforms, including establishing specialized oversight committees, independent review agencies, and judicial oversight protocols. Such measures are essential for protecting civil liberties, fostering public trust, and ensuring intelligence accountability within Indonesia's evolving democratic landscape. This research contributes to the global discourse on intelligence reform, highlighting strategies for emerging democracies to strengthen intelligence governance in response to modern security challenges

Abstract

This investigation aims to investigate the integration of sharia principles into the financial management of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Polman, West Sulawesi Island. In-depth interviews with MSME actors and regional Sharia financing institutions comprise the qualitative methodology employed in this investigation. This study found that applying sharia principles, such as the use of mudharabah and musyarakah-based financing, positively impacts business sustainability and development. Sharia principles help MSME actors manage resources fairly and transparently and avoid detrimental usury practices. However, the primary challenge is MSME actors' need to understand sharia principles and limited access to appropriate sharia financing institutions. These limitations prevent optimal implementation and reduce the potential benefits. Therefore, this study suggests the importance of increasing understanding through training and socialization regarding sharia principles, strengthening institutions, and accessing sharia financing institutions. Enhanced accessibility and comprehension of Sharia financing are anticipated to foster the growth of more sustainable MSMEs and promote an inclusive local economy

Abstract

This study aims to identify challenges in implementing character education at SMP DDI Polman, West Sulawesi. Character education in this school is expected to shape students with excellent and responsible behavior. Nevertheless, it encounters a variety of challenges during its execution. This investigation implements a qualitative descriptive methodology. Data were gathered through documentation analysis, direct observation, and in-depth interviews. The study results indicate that one of the main obstacles is the limited time available in the learning schedule. Character education is often considered an additional, low priority because the main focus is more on the academic achievement being tested. In addition, the lack of understanding and commitment from all related parties, including teachers, principals, and students, also affects the effectiveness of the implementation of character education. Consequently, it is imperative to incorporate character education into all school activities consistently. This study implies that creating a quality generation is contingent upon enhancing collective awareness of the urgency of character education and improving time management

Abstract

In vitro, biotechnology has proven to be a reliable source for producing secondary metabolites. Isoflavones are secondary plant metabolites that have antioxidant and estrogenic properties in the body. Tissue culture technology, which allows the production of plantlets or calluses in small containers, can address challenges in plant metabolite production. To enhance the efficiency of callus production, variations in sources and amount of planting material should be tested in a single planting container. The Bengkoang plant / Jicama (Pachyrhizus erosus) naturally produces isoflavones. This study investigates the impact of variations in sources and amount of planting material on the production of isoflavones in Bengkoang callus using in vitro tissue culture techniques. The research was conducted at the Tissue Culture Laboratory, employing a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) factorial method. Factor I involved the explant source: C1: young leaves; C2: Callus. Factor II involved the number of explants per container: T1: 1; T2: 2; T3: 3. The results show an interaction between source variations and the amount of planting material in anthocyanin production, successfully extracted from the Callus. Planting 3 explants in a container with subculture material from Callus produced the highest 0.16% isoflavones compared to other treatments
