Abstract

This study aims to examines the optimization of institutional performance at the Halal Center of IAIN Kediri through the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) focusing on four core Key Performance Indicators (KPIs): halal certification services, education and outreach, research and development, and management and governance. Using a qualitative case study approach, data were gathered through interviews, observations, and document analysis to capture an in-depth understanding of organizational processes before and after TQM implementation. The results show that TQM significantly improves the speed and accuracy of halal certification services, increases the number and competency of halal product assistants, and expands community education initiatives on halal awareness. Additionally, the approach stimulates research activities related to the halal ecosystem and strengthens institutional governance through better facilities, increased staff capacity, and the establishment of a more structured operational system. These findings empirically confirm that TQM principles—customer focus, continuous improvement, teamwork, and evidence-based decision-making—are highly relevant for halal certification institutions within higher education settings. The study contributes to the growing literature on quality management in the halal sector and highlights the importance of institutional commitment and cross-unit coordination for successful TQM implementation. Future initiatives should prioritize digitalization, auditor capacity-building, and the refinement of measurable performance standards to ensure long-term sustainability and competitiveness of halal institutions in Indonesia..

Abstract

This study aims to analyze bullying in the school environment as a violation of children's rights based on Law Number 35 of 2014 concerning Child Protection and to examine the forms of legal protection provided by schools to victims of bullying at MIS Bina Bangsa. This research is empirical legal research using a juridical-empirical approach, which examines the implementation of legal norms in real conditions. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation studies, and analyzed qualitatively. The results show that bullying at MIS Bina Bangsa occurs in verbal, physical, cyberbullying, and psychological forms, which constitute violations of Article 59, Article 76C, and Article 76D of Law Number 35 of 2014. Legal protection efforts implemented by the school include teacher supervision, character education, anti-bullying socialization, and coordination with parents. However, these efforts have not been optimally implemented due to the absence of standardized operating procedures (SOPs) for handling bullying cases. Practically, this study implies the need for schools to formulate clear anti-bullying SOPs, strengthen teachers’ capacity in identifying and handling bullying cases, enhance collaboration with parents, and integrate child protection principles into school policies. These findings are expected to contribute to strengthening child protection mechanisms in primary educational institutions.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the concept of israf (extravagance) and consumption balance as stated in Surah Al-A’raf verse 31 through a comparative interpretation of classical and contemporary exegeses, and to integrate these insights with Islamic economic principles. This research employs a library-based qualitative method by examining Qur’anic texts, tafsir literature, and recent academic studies related to Islamic consumption ethics. The findings indicate that the verse highlights three essential principles: the command to adorn oneself properly when attending the mosque, the permissibility of eating and drinking within reasonable limits, and the firm prohibition of extravagance due to its harmful effects on individuals and society. The study also shows that the principle of balanced consumption (moderation) forms a foundational value in Islamic economics, supporting the objectives of Shariah in preserving life, wealth, and intellect. Furthermore, the study underscores the relevance of Qur’anic guidance on moderation in addressing modern challenges such as consumerism, wastefulness, and environmental degradation. It concludes that the Qur’anic teachings on consumption provide a comprehensive ethical and economic framework for achieving well-being and sustainability.

Abstract

The objectives of this research include: (1) Analyzing the efforts of PAI (Islamic Education) teachers in shaping Spiritual Quotient (SQ) of students at SMK PGRI 1 Kediri; and (2) Analyzing the supporting and inhibiting factors for PAI teachers' efforts shaping the students' SQ at SMK PGRI 1 Kediri. The research method uses descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The research subjects consisted of PAI teachers, the school principal, and students. The results of this study indicate that (1) PAI teachers have an important role shaping the Spiritual Quotient (SQ) of students at SMK PGRI 1 Kediri. These efforts are carried out through the habituation of religious activities, role modeling, and direct guidance. (2) Supporting factors include religious school culture and consistent religious programs, while obstacles arise from the low awareness of some students, environmental influences, time constraints, and lack of parental support. In conclusion, PAI teachers strive to shape SQ through the integration of spiritual values in practical daily activities, such as congregational prayers, reading the Qur'an, and giving alms. The teacher's role as role model, guide, and motivator is crucial in bridging the gap between theoretical understanding and real-world practice. A conducive school environment, such as a religious school culture and consistent programs, is a valuable asset in supporting the formation of SQ. The success of SQ formation greatly depends on the ability of PAI teachers to adapt, innovate, and collaborate with the entire school ecosystem including parents to overcome these obstacles. The findings of this research have direct implications for educational practices in vocational schools such as SMK PGRI 1 Kediri. PAI teachers can implement efforts such as daily worship habits and personal counseling to enhance students' SQ, which not only strengthens spiritual discipline but also helps students cope with academic and social pressures. This research contributes to expanding the SQ literature with an Islam-contextual perspective in the digital era, offering novelty through practical applications in SMKs and analysis of modern obstacles. This encourages further research to validate the SQ model in various school contexts, thereby enabling religious education to more effectively shape a spiritual and adaptive generation

Abstract

This research aims to: 1) analyze the implementation of teacher strategies in the transformation of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning, 2) evaluate the output of these strategies, and 3) assess the implications of these teacher strategies within the context of the Kurikulum Merdeka (Independent Curriculum). The study employs a qualitative approach with the researcher as the primary instrument, conducting observations, interviews, and documentation directly at the research sites to obtain in-depth and comprehensive data. The subjects are PAI learning practices under the Kurikulum Merdeka at the vocational high school (SMK) level in Kediri City. Key informants include school principals, PAI subject group teachers, and facilitators or mentors involved in the teacher strategies for PAI learning transformation. Data analysis involves data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The research was conducted at SMK PGRI 2 and SMK AL-HUDA in Kediri City. The research findings indicate that: 1) Teacher strategies for teaching PAI within the Kurikulum Merdeka at SMK PGRI 2 and SMK AL-HUDA are innovative, flexible, and student-focused. Both schools position teachers as facilitators and emphasize the importance of collaboration, with SMK PGRI 2 focusing on Higher Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) and technology, while SMK AL-HUDA utilizes the jigsaw method and group work. 2) The PAI teacher strategies at both schools successfully build religious character and enhance students' understanding of religion. SMK PGRI 2 integrates religious activities like Dhuha prayers and collaborates with the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School in project-based learning tailored to students' backgrounds. SMK AL-HUDA emphasizes direct worship practices and the exemplary behavior of teachers in daily activities. 3) The transformation of PAI teacher strategies at SMK PGRI 2 and SMK AL-HUDA improves the quality of learning and religious character in line with the Kurikulum Merdeka. SMK PGRI 2 collaborates with the Lirboyo boarding school and uses the HOTS method to address time constraints and improve students' critical abilities, with teachers actively participating in training. SMK AL-HUDA leverages technology, such as videos of worship practices and religious extracurricular activities, to shape character and social skills. This research contributes to the field of Islamic religious education by providing empirical evidence on the effectiveness of teacher strategies within the Kurikulum Merdeka in an SMK context, specifically through a multi-site study. This study reinforces the understanding that the transformation of PAI learning not only improves academic competence but also prepares students to face socio-cultural challenges

Abstract

This study examines Al-Ghazali's thoughts on the concepts of production, profit, and maslahah in Islamic economic ethics and their relevance to modern production practices that tend to be profit-oriented and industrialized. This study uses a qualitative approach based on library research by examining Al-Ghazali's primary works such as Ihya' Ulumuddin, Al-Mustashfa, and Mizan al-Amal as well as secondary sources in the form of Islamic economic journals and literature. The results show that Al-Ghazali places maslahah as the main principle in production activities, while profit is considered legitimate as long as it does not cause injustice or social and environmental damage. This thinking is relevant to addressing contemporary production challenges, especially in terms of sustainable ethics, worker welfare, and moral responsibility. This study contributes by offering a maslahah-based ethical framework to assess and direct modern production practices to be more just and oriented towards the welfare of the community.

Abstract

This study examines the relevance of the principle of lā tufsidu fil ardḍ in the Qur'an to the development of green sukuk as a sustainable Islamic financial instrument. Using a maudhu'i tafsir approach and qualitative-descriptive analysis, this study finds that the prohibition of earth destruction and the mandate of the caliphate serve as the theological basis for green financial practices in Islam. Green sukuk has been proven to support the financing of environmentally friendly projects such as renewable energy, forest conservation, and public transportation and has the potential to be strengthened through the integration of digital technology. This study emphasizes the novelty of combining tafsir studies with modern financial analysis and shows that green sukuk is a concrete implementation of maqāṣid al-shari'ah in environmental protection

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a blockchain-based Smart Sukuk model to reduce gharar and increase transparency in Islamic financial instruments through a qualitative approach based on a literature study of published literature including reports from the Financial Services Authority (OJK), the Directorate General of Public Procurement (DJPPR), the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI), the Indonesian Financial Services Authority (IFSB), fatwas from the National Sharia Council (DSN-MUI), and academic publications on sukuk, blockchain, and smart contracts. Descriptive-analytical and interpretive analyses indicate that blockchain has the potential to increase transparency through immutable recording and real-time audits, while smart contracts have the potential to automate payments, project monitoring, and sharia compliance, thereby minimizing asymmetric information and moral hazard. This study provides theoretical implications in the form of a conceptual framework for gharar mitigation and practical implications for regulators and Islamic capital market players in developing smart sukuk. The limitation of this study lies in its non-empirical nature, so further research is needed to test the technical implementation in practice.
