Abstract

This article presents a comprehensive exploration of the concept of pesantren dynamization in Islamic education from the visionary perspective of Abdurrahman Wahid, affectionately known as Gus Dur. It delves deeply into Wahid’s profound insights and visionary ideas regarding how pesantren, the traditional Islamic boarding schools, can adapt and thrive in the ever-evolving landscape of contemporary society. Wahid’s philosophy revolves around the notion that pesantren should not merely serve as centers of religious instruction but should transform into dynamic engines of positive societal change. Wahid underscores the imperative for pesantren to undergo a paradigm shift in their curriculum, teaching methodologies, and their societal engagement. . Ultimately, this article showcases how Abdurrahman Wahid’s forward-thinking perspective envisions pesantren as dynamic hubs of education and social betterment. His philosophy encourages these institutions to retain their cherished traditions while embracing contemporary values, with the ultimate goal of transforming them into ideal educational centers that not only enrich their students’ lives but also contribute to the broader advancement of society.

Abstract

This study aims to identify and understand moral issues among students and find effective solutions to improve their moral and ethical quality. The method used is descriptive qualitative, combining literature research. Data were collected through questionnaires and direct observation of students. The research findings show that morals significantly influence students' social and academic relationships on campus. The majority of respondents stated that good morals, such as respecting others' opinions, being honest, and being helpful, help build harmonious relationships with friends and lecturers. However, there are differences in the application of morals based on cultural or religious backgrounds. Challenges faced include situations where kindness is not reciprocated or emotions must be controlled. Nevertheless, respondents showed a commitment to consistently implementing positive moral values with support from peers and self-reflection. The role of family and the surrounding environment is recognized as important in shaping student morals. Programs and activities on campus, such as ethics seminars, social activities, and student organizations, help increase moral awareness. To enhance the application of morals, it is suggested to integrate moral education into the curriculum, organize seminars and workshops, and provide positive examples through lecturers and campus staff.

Abstract

This article examines public service management in higher education through A Systematic Literature Review (SLR), aiming to identify key aspects, challenges, and strategies in managing public services within universities. The study uses the SLR methodology to systematically gather, evaluate, and synthesize existing research on the topic. A thorough search of academic databases identified studies on service delivery efficiency, student-centered services, leadership, governance, and the integration of technology in university management. The results highlight ongoing challenges such as resource allocation, demographic shifts, and technological adaptation. However, strategies like Total Quality Management (TQM), public-private partnerships, and digital transformation emerge as crucial in enhancing service management. This review’s novelty lies in its comprehensive approach, offering a synthesis of contemporary research on public service management in higher education, and presenting a detailed overview of current models and best practices. The findings of this study offer valuable insights into how institutions can optimize service delivery, improve governance, and better meet the evolving needs of students and stakeholders. By examining these strategies and challenges, this article provides a foundation for further research and practical applications aimed at improving public service management within higher education institutions.

Abstract

This study explores the shift in identity and pedagogical authority of Islam at Wahid Hasyim Islamic Boarding School in Yogyakarta. This shift reflects the pesantren's adaptation to global challenges by integrating modern scientific knowledge into its tradition of education rooted in Islamic values. The study examines how Islamic knowledge and pedagogy are constructed in the pesantren and how the shift in identity and pedagogical authority impacts the formation of students' religious identity. Utilizing observation, interviews, and documentation methods, the research highlights the integration of Salafi and Kulliyah curricula, innovations in teaching methods, and adaptation of human resources. The findings indicate that this shift creates a contextual and relevant model of Islamic education, where tradition-based pedagogy, particularly memorization, not only serves as a medium for knowledge transmission but also as a tool for shaping students' religious identity holistically, linking spiritual values with modern challenges.

Abstract

Islamic Religious Education (PAI) continues to be the focus of interesting studies, as it becomes a compulsory subject at all levels of education, becoming the basis for harmonizing the intellectual, moral, and skill aspects of students in the school environment. This study aims to explore the relevance of the interdisciplinary approach in the context of learning Islamic Religious Education in elementary schools. A descriptive qualitative approach with a literature study method was used as a research approach, with the search for library data mainly focused on concepts about the interdisciplinary approach, Islamic Education learning, and similar relevant concepts. Data analysis used a content analysis model. The results of this study show that interdisciplinary at Islamic Learning or PAI learning is an integral part of the integrated learning approach. At the elementary level, the integrated approach is realized in integrative thematic learning, where several subjects combine their competencies into a specific theme network. The relevance of this approach is further proven by the continuation of the concept in the latest curriculum, the Merdeka Curriculum, which does not eliminate the thematic approach but instead enriches it by accepting other relevant approaches
